  1. Had Arsenal and Bolton let me down, however, I checked livescore.com earlier to check the Cardiff score and stumbled across an advert for bet365 advertising Barnsley away at MK Dons at 12/5 so stumped some money on that. So not all bad

  2. I'm finally working my way through my American Vampire collection. Worked my way through 1-18 along with the Survival of the Fittest mini-series in the past week or so. Hoping to get through 19-34 and the Lord of Nightmares mini-series as quick also. Enjoying it very much. Skinner Sweet is such a good character.

Also finally worked my way through all the Death of the Family issues and tie-in's, so I'm looking forward to Issue 17's release. Should be a belter.

  3. Hmmmm.....my thoughts were "After a tonking off Chelsea and a good beating off of Tottenham, Villa should really be beating Wigan" 3-0 down at home to Wigan is ridiculously embarassing for Villa, and that's coming from a Bolton fan

  4. Happy! is awesome, shame its only a 4 issue series. Love Darick Robertson's art in it too, he's great. First issue of Bedlam was cool, though the second was a bit flat story wise. Didn't really kick on from the first. But the art is brilliant in that too, superb use of red. There's only been the 2 so far so its definitely one to keep an eye on.

Yeah, I've very much enjoyed Happy! and the latest issue is, for me, the best so far. As for Bedlam, i read a review of it and it sounded pretty awesome, so I started reading Issue 1, but never worked my way through it properly, but I did enjoy what I read of it, so have picked up issue 2, and will probably get 3 and 4 and read the whole series in 1 go.

My series of the year is Saga, if you could all stop what you're doing and go read that right now, that'd be great. I keep banging on about it to anyone who will listen. Or not listen.

I just noticed Issue 1 is free on Comixology, so I've grabbed that and will see what I think and whether to pick up anymore

  5. I was reading the Boys until it finished. Might pick up some of the Shadow stuff though.

On a different note, just picked up Avengers vs. X-Men. Good golly I enjoyed this book. I've read some X-Men stuff and thought Cyclops was becoming quite the prick throughout so it was great to see it all come to a head. I thought it was really well written and you felt for both sides and, I don't really think I can say more without giving something away, but I thought it was great

I'm hoping to start reading some X-Men soon, and have earmarked AvsX as a Christmas present to myself in April

  6. Anyone reading anything else other than the DC/Marvel stuff recently? I've been picking up Grant Morrison's Happy! which is good, along with the wrestling related, digital-only Swerve, Bedlam (which I've yet to read yet, despite owning issues 1 and 2 or 4) and the new MMA-related Joe Palooka, which I've also yet to read yet

  7. Wow nice one. That wil be a good resource. Is continuity super important in Batman? So far they seem refrential but self contained enough it doesnt seem like an issue. What would you say is must have if that is the case?

I'm not 100% sure really, I just like to know a full history of what I'm reading. I think with Batman it's easier to jump on too as long as you know some of the important stuff before hand. For example I've got a friend at work who claims to be a massive Batman fan, but only knows of Dick Grayson as Robin. He wouldn't be able to jump on to new comics now with Damian as the current Robin

I was trying to build the collection on this Batman Timeline but there's been some other stuff added to the list I made a while back, but that should have some information on some books to get if you're interested

    That Timeline

  8. I'm way into Batman at the moment. The down time in work has really given me the opportunity to check out the TPB's and Graphic Novels and I'm borderline obsessed.

    Currently I have,

    The Dark Knight Returns

    Knightfall vol 1 & 2

    A Death in the Family

    Gothic

    Arkham Asylum Living Hell

    Batman Year One

    Cacophony

    The Widening Gyre

    Batman & Robin Must Die!

    Broken City

    The Killing Joke

    R.I.P.

Half of which I've read over the last couple of weeks. So Bat-fans what I'm getting round to is any recommendations? I expect I'm going to order Hush and The Long Halloween soon but after that I'm buying a bit more randomly. I think I'm done with buying single issues though, TPBs are the way forward as much as it goes against my comic geek tradition instincts.

  9. Watched a couple of Animated films over the weekend:

Under the Red Hood - Blummin fantastic. I might be in the minority, but I enjoyed this more than The Dark Knight Returns pt1 which was the fist I saw in this recent run. Probably the best I have seen to be honest. I didn't know a great deal about The person under the hood (won't spoil it, just in case), but I just thought the whole thing was awesome from start to finish.

Dr Strange - Again, because of my limited comic knowledge, I don't remember having come across him as a character before, so didn't know the back story. Really enjoyed it, perhaps because it was all new. Some great animation, particularly the battles/magic.

Superman/Batman Public Enemies - OK, not the worse film I have seen this month. I thought too much was going on, with too many characters that I didn't know, that I felt I was getting a bit lost. I was too busy trying to figure out who was who, so lost focus a bit. Lex Luger's costime at the end was pretty good.

So that's these watched so far, next few up are Superman/Batman Apocalypse (I think that follows on from S/B Pub E), and the 2 Hulk vs that I was supposed to have watched already. Then on to the Justice League ones.

This is actually one of my personal favourite Animated Movies too. I downloaded it a couple of years ago randomly, and stuck it on one night and loved it. Really good film

  10. is this the Batman 13 that peeps were refering to?

    BM_Cv13_NYCC_VAR_cv1.jpg

Yes, that is Batman 13. Batman 14 should be out this coming Wednesday (I think) with the story carrying on.

Does anyone read anything old or do you all keep up to date with shit?

When I posted on the last page that I'm catching up with Green Lantern, I'm currently reading the really old stuff from the very early days of Green Lantern, trying to go through basically the entire history with a Green Lantern timeline I found online
