  1. We wont see what was in it and nor should we. I like the mystery behind that. Its like his name. I like the fact we don't know what he's truely frightened of.

I havn't seen the episode but know vaguely what happens. When he opened the door didn't the cloister bell sound, which is only sound during Universe / Time ending super threats?

Yep. Who knows what it could be, but I reckon it could be perhaps the evil side of the Doctor (ie the Dream Lord) taking over his body and mutilating his TARDIS...or something.

I've seen the episode. I thought his fear was a vague fear of the cloister bell, but obviously when he muttered "it would be you" its clear it something specific.

Maybe we will never know, but I think the fear of himself is a pretty good one. Its reminds me of the Water Of Mars episode where he almost "turns heel" right at the end, only to learn of the dire consequences.

The impressions I've got from past episodes is that the Doctor NEEDS a companion to balance him out, as otherwise the temptation to become a arrogant all powerful God figure is far too tempting.

  3. They didn't really further the 'regenerating child' mystery, they threw it away in a rather unsatisfying fashion.

There was lots of little bits of amazing, and potential amazing, but the overarching narrative seemed like a square peg in a round hole. The bit with 'Mels' was mental, and rushed and the 'miniaturisation' was a bit naff for my tastes. Despite being aesthetically Moffatt, there was a heavy touch of the RTD's about that episode.

That said, the last 15 minutes were fairly cool and Matt Smith is still just amazing...

I will agree with you that it was rushed, but at the same time I'm glad they didn't leave me hanging with a generic episode. Lets be honest, after a stellar first half, this return episode HAD to deliver something.

Mind you, did they give EVERYTHING away? Although it may appear so at this point in time, we won't REALLY know that until the end of the series and we look back on it as a whole. This may be the part of some brilliant story telling (or it might end up as shit. We shall see).

  4. Ace episode. I like how they took what I thought was going to be a throw away episode, and successfully further the regenerating child / River Song mystery. Lets see where they go with this. Good start to the second half.

  5. You're at least the third person to mention it.

I'm kinda surprised nobody's mentioned Azumanga Daioh yet. Anything animated by SHAFT is also gold; Pani Poni Dash, Negima, Hidamari Sketch, the Zetsubo Sensei series, Maria Holic, Bakemonogatari and Puella Magi Madoka Magica are all worth spending time on.

    Ah my mistake!

  6. Sounds like an interesting concept, some DC comics are good but my biggest problem in this time of recession is there big stories require you to buy 6 different books. I've said before I waited to buy the hardcover Blackest Night book and was well pissed when I read one chapter and there was a page saying 'Meanwhile, Sinestro anally raped Kilowog and other vital plot twists occurred not in this book'. If they produced more books like Identity Crisis which are quite self contained or with Marvel when they did Siege, have one book telling the whole story and then branch off with other versions of your favs, I would be more inclined to read more DC, but they don't.

Yeah that Sinestro anal raping scene was brutal. It's amazing what you can do with a giant yellow power ring these days. Poor Kilowog.

Oddly enough I've not read THE Blackest Night graphic novel yet, but have downloaded and read Green Lantern: Blackest Night. And just like you its bloody annoying only getting half the story.

In mine theres been a few key battles... and then the heros turn round and "oh hay... the battles been won... awesome".

Why they couldn't just have a 12 part core central series is beyond me.

  7. How do people feel with the news that DC are doing a total re-boot of everything. Every comic will be going back to Number 1. And the big re-entry into the DC Universe of Swamp Thing and John Constantine.

I love that John Constantine is back in the DC Universe.

I thought Swamp thing had already been reintroduced? Isn't he the White Lantern?

I think the most interesting thing about this relaunch, is as a part of it DC are releasing digital comics at the same time as they are released in print, and will be very interesting to see how this effects the overall business. In the long run it won't be good, but we will see.

As for the all the stories being relaunched, I think it can work. I know Marvel had some great success with the Ultimate range (i.e. resetting all the stories so new reader can just jump on board). After all the DC universe was getting utterley confusing and clusterfuckery with all the alternate universe characters running around.

I mean when you have multiple version of the Green Lantern and the Flash from different eras coexisting, and alternate universe versions of Superman all swanning around at the same time, its too much for someone to understand.

I think the big reset it needed. One Superman, one Green Lantern (or Green Lantern corp) etc will help massively.

Perhaps coming up with some new characters would be a better way to move comics forward? It seems insane to me that the industry has become so backward-looking.

They do regularly come up with new characters, but most of them don't succeed.

Have you seen the majority of the failed new characters walking around the DC universe? Outside of Batman, Superman, Wonder Women, Green Lantern, Flash, and at a pinch Aqua Man, you have the biggest list of failed Z list characters in the world.

Marvel have a bit more success, but considering how little money there tend to be in comics, its no wonder they rely on the old favorites.

  9. It's been established that river songs life will be played backwards in correlation to the doctors, I.e. Technically speaking we should see river song get younger with each passing appearance. The fact that song can now regenerate means that song can now be played by different actors over forthcoming seasons, and is a useful way of getting around the fact that alex Kingston will get older as her character is suppose to get younger.

My theory is that the baby / melody / song is set to become a future doctor who super baddie. E.g. From rivers point of view...

    - baby is kidnapped.

    - melody is brainwashed to hate the doctor and try and take him down.

    - melody / river learns the error of her ways and goes to jail

    - river and the doctor marry but there relationship is on off due to their time travelling antics

    - falls in love with the doctor

    - river dies saving the doctor

Maybe we will see two rivers / melodys floating around for a few seasons... One evil and one post rehabilitation.

  10. What a ace episode. I love how doctor who gives us little snippets that flesh out the history of the doctors past. Getting insight into how the doctor commandeered the trades, or vice versa, was interesting.

As for the "only water in the forest is the river", could this allude to the fact at that dr. River's (future) consciousness is currently trapped in the library (which was made from a cut down forest) from season 4? Or am I looking too deeply into it?

  11. Great episode but my head hurts. So many unanswered questions... So worried these questions won't be answered until much later into the series

  12. I finished Jericho’s second book last week, which on the whole I thought was good, but not as good as his first.

I then started reading Mick Foley: The hardcore diaries (which I found in Pundland) and I must say I am glad I only paid

  13. It won't happen, but a small part of me would like to see the Undertaker enter Money In The Bank, win it easily, and then spend the next year stalking the various world champions in spooky ways before cashing in.

Yes it would involve burying all the young up and comers, and his performance in MITB would be pretty poor most likely... but that's what the selfish mark in me would like to see.

I like the idea, however I think you could do that anyway without him actually winning Money in the Bank. He doesn't need it really, he's fucking Undertaker. If he wants to keep stalking the Champions for a few weeks, brilliant. Eventually he can target a particular champion, do one of his taunts and symbolise the start of a new title feud, and bob's your uncle. This way, you've still got your Money in the Bank guy to elevate in the meantime too.

    Yeah but...

    (a) I want to see Taker being made to walk around with a great big black case with his logo tackily emblazed upon it.

    (b) I want to see Taker destroy 7 midcarders in MITB, and then come online and watch the entire internet bitch about how selfish he is.

    Little things I know :)

  15. Considering the average Raw audience (notably different make-up to a ppv audience, especially RR or WM) how many people do you think will really get the enormity of a Sting appearance?

*EDIT; Also, if there is a generous portion of the audience expecting Sting then aren't they going to look stupid if its not, yet the fans start chanting 'WE WANT STING'. No one wins in that instance.

Thing is, not that long ago they presented the current demographics and it wasn't as child heavy as you think. In fact a large number of fans were considerably older.

Can't remember where it was from now and the source was never revealed, but I wouldn't be too surprised is Sting got a decent reaction.

  16. ... sat down and said 'No. Not now, I'm not finished yet'...

I'm wondering if there is something to do with the timeline going to be revealed. Oh, I don't bloody know.

it was the key to the tardis in his pocket telling him that it had regenerated and that it was ready to leave.

  17. God I miss when wrestling was this popular.

    http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance/searc...rld-title_sport

Listen to the noise, not the pop, the noise, hte reaction, the emption when not only Austin comes out but when Foley wins.

No matter how much money they make these days or arenas they fill, wwe now is nothing compared to this.

Such a awesome iconic moment... and looking at how INSANE the fans got when Austin's music hit and when Foley won was damn incredible.

If I was foley I'd had that moment displayed on a huge 60 inch monitor in my front room and played on a loop!

  18. Downloaded 'Da Blob' and 'Wario Land: The Shake' for the Wii last night. Not been much by way of really good titles over recent months just the usual genre of games that are ok with the boys round then the Wii goes into cold storage for another three weeks but these look really good. Friend says Wario Land is the best game on the Wii since Galaxy which can only be a good thing and Da Blob i was intrigued by the title more than anything else but having read some reviews it seems like the only thing it could be compared to is Jet Set Radio which can never be a bad thing. Fingers crossed they are good :)

    Downloaded it?
  19. The whole thing again? Fucksocks! I thought I was done! Thats the suprise? Thats evil Nintendo!Well guess i best get cracking See you in another 9 months!
