Speaking of Strong Style, can anyone remember exactly what happened at Frontiers of Honor with him. The rumor I heard was he sold the RoH tapes cheaper then they were, made enough money that night to almost pay for a house and got run out the building by the wrestlers.

He used to sell pirate versions of all the ROH shows, when Frontiers Of Honor was ran he was told not to sell his copies as official versions would be on sale from ROH themselves.  He completely ignored the warnings and continued to sell his knock off versions on the night, which obviously didn't go down too well!

i don't have i issue with having security and even security doing a good job I do take issue too being searched twice in a row and people being held up with long queues by them when doors open at 6pm and you can't get in the venue till after 7pm that is bad security at that stage not security to keep us all safe

Security is standard pal, go any large scale event in London and you'll experience this.  I can understand it may be a bit daunting for people who aren't used to going to events in London or not used to security checks for gigs at locations such as The 02, Wembley Arena or any West End Theatre.

As for the venue as a whole, York Hall is Rev Pro's prestige venue used for all the year's major shows and I've never really had much of a problem with views.  I usually go for the 4th-6th rows and in all my year's of shows there harking back to FWA days I've never had my evening ruined due to obscured views.

There's no way a line of obscure wrestlers from the 80s and early 90s would succeed at the levels Mattel needs to sell. They're aiming for all sorts of fans to buy them, rather than just the few hundred Hasbro completionists who want Jim Powers and Paul Roma.

Not completely true.  The two latest Mattel Elite series have featured Warlord, The Berzerker and Isacc Yankem!

I think the compromise is to do what they do with the Elite series, and throw a random throwback figure into each Retro series.  Pleases everyone that way.

Here is the forth series of the retro figures carded.  Also over at ringside collectibles Facebook page there are heaps of new images from the Mattel expo this week, retro figures of Nakamura, New Day, Jericho, Wolf pack Sting and loads more including a new take on the old hasbro ring.

Good to hear about series 3, ah well, I'm guessing the rumours regarding the others mentioned were only that, how long have they been on RSC for? and 4 figures to a series is a reality then (at least this one) Fair play.

They are indeed available in Smyths, however there is only one in my area and it's constantly rinsed. It's easy enough to order offline obviously but fuck that, half the joy of buying hasbros as a kid was walking in to John Menzies or Woolies, being gutted while looking at a shelf full of IRS only to find a slink had hidden a Sid behind the Polly Pickets.

Completely right, there is zero joy ordering these online.

Woolworths was always my favourite spot to pick up Hasbros.  I'll never forget being treated to Jake Roberts and Demolition Ax for my first ever Hasbros in Woolies.

I love the idea of doing the current roster in Hasbro form but I was really hoping that they would continue to plug the gaps of non existent Hasbro figures with several more from the attitude era.

The Entertainer have both Rock and Stone Cold hasbro-likes, £12 each and in stock.

8.99 each in Smyths.  Can't beats them for prices, always a heap load of elites reduced down to a fiver.  The Entertainer has always been pricey on wwe figures.

Him and Owens seem to be the chasers. £20+ each on eBay a piece which is shit. No one I know have seen them in the wild yet.

I've heard that Seth and Ambrose are in the pipe line for a future set (alongside Bret, HBK, Big Show and Flair) and other rumblings that Mattel aren't sure whether to stick with 6 figs a series (3 classic characters and 3 modern era) or reduce to 4. Personally, I'd prefer 4. All of which is pure rumour at the moment, so we'll see.

Series 3 is already avaliable for pre order over at ringside collectibles.  The series is Goldberg, Seth, Dean and AJ.

The retro figures are widely avaliable in Smyths stores and various over UK outlets and have been for some time.   You won't find Owens and Roman over here though as unfortunately they are exclusive to the states.   Again they can be ordered from Ringside Collectibles though.  For those who don't know Ringside Collectibles is the official reseller of wwe figures.

  8. Hello,. Would somebody be able to tell me where I can get a mint Classic Ultimate Warrior Wrestling buddy from. I want it for my baby nephew. Am I right in believing that they were re-released not that long ago?

    This is what I'm after.

I've had a scan on Ebay. No real luck.

That warrior one you posted a pic of is from 1990! Don't think wwe released any classic buddies in their rebirth. I think they showed off a Warrior one at toy fare but don't believe it was ever actually released. There is an Ultimate Warrior Bleacher Creature though which is really cool.

  9. Statement on the finish from PCW

"The ending of yesterday's PCW show has polarised opinion. Here are the facts of what happened.

First, some background. For the past four years, Bubblegum and T-Bone have been aligned in PCW as members of the stable Team Single. They have fought side by side and been as close as brothers. On Saturday night in the Kris Travis Memorial Tournament quarter-final, Bubblegum defeated T-Bone in an excellent match which ended with the two men embracing in respect. But then the close of Sunday’s show saw T-Bone shockingly turn on his erstwhile friend and ally.

In Sunday’s main event, Bubblegum pinned Kenny Williams to win the tournament final in another tremendous match. After the match Bubblegum received a trophy and was congratulated by Kenny, as well as Joey Hayes, Martin Kirby, Danny Hope and T-Bone who all came down to the ring. He was presented with the tournament trophy and as the winner, gave a speech. Pip ‘Bubblegum’ Cartner spoke from the heart in his own words. His words were beautiful. They were full of praise for Kris Travis as a person and a professional, and his legacy in British wrestling, and echoed the sentiments of everybody involved in Preston City Wrestling in describing the esteem in which we held Kris.

After finishing his heartfelt speech, Bubblegum closed by saying that as the tournament winner, he was now entitled to a PCW Title shot, and sent out a verbal message to the reigning PCW Champion, the absent Iestyn Rees, that he intended to use that shot at the earliest available opportunity to become PCW Champion for the first time.

His music then played and Bubblegum received further congratulations from Danny, Kenny, Joey, Martin and T-Bone. But then, as fans started to leave because the show was over, T-Bone suddenly head butted Bubblegum. The music was cut and the atmosphere in the building changed from one of celebration to a cold and uneasy feeling of worry, shock and anger, as Bubblegum was helped to the back. This was the close of the show.

Since yesterday's events, some have expressed their displeasure at how the show ended. Others have tweeted and sent us messages saying how much they loved the show and the entire weekend, and have praised the ending itself. We would like to thank everybody for their feedback and particularly, the feedback of those who were in attendance at this weekend’s shows.

We had three intentions going into this weekend. We wanted to deliver a top class weekend of entertainment. We also wanted to honour our friend and colleague Kris Travis, in order to keep his memory and his name alive. And we also wanted to raise money for Cancer Research through sales of Kris Travis T-shirts and donations from our fans. We feel we achieved these aims and we sincerely hope that most people enjoyed themselves at our three shows this weekend. For those whose enjoyment was soured by the finish of Sunday’s show, it was certainly not our intention to offend.

We thank those in attendance this weekend who bought T-shirts and donated money to the charity. Donations will be match funded by PCW and we will release a final total in due course.

We would also like to thank our fantastic wrestling and backroom team at PCW who all delivered to an extremely high standard this weekend. We believe that this was one of our best ever PCW weekends, particularly Sunday’s show, and we are proud to have produced these events to honour our much-missed friend and colleague. He will never be forgotten by any of us."

  11. I'm sure I saw the other week that Doug Williams is doing a Collectormania event at Braehead, near Glasgow.

Remains to be seen if any other wrestlers will be added, but I'm sure an import wrestler would do a good turn (well to be precise ex WWE star, not Impact Wrestling midcarder).

Unfortunately showmasters don't put a hell of a lot of effort into the Glasgow leg so can't see them bringing anyone over for it specifically, best chance of an import would be for somebody already in the country.
