Tremendous main event. Just tremendous.
-
Rob Hawthorn bumping Dermot off the climbing wall would be the angle of the year if it happened on 2015 Raw.
-
Lawler is just fantastic isn't he? What a pro wrestler.
-
How come Batista did the honours for Bryan at WrestleMania 30 and not Orton? It seems almost a no-brainer that they would have had Orton quit to blow off that story and then keep Batista strong for a singles challenge.
-
They put WM 21 out on VHS, with the women, sumo and Hogan stuff cut.
Â
Re. Montreal, the one thing I don't get is how and why the WWF let all that footage from the event get used in the Wrestling with Shadows film. Surely they would have jumped all over that, or was it a trade-off for breaking the creative control clause Bret had?

Raw Bowl Raw?

Should have dropped a Loser Leaves Town to Rockstar Spudgun.

"So I'm on my way back to New York this morning from a meeting in Los Angeles about a project I can't really talk about yet and who should call my cellphone but Disco - you know, Disco Inferno..."

Seems already that the whole 'Sting in WWE' project is heading to the same file occupied by 'Goldberg in WWE', 'nWo in WWE' and 'WCW in WWE'. :-(

My best friend from secondary school quit following wrestling cold turkey straight after that show. He'd been following it in minute detail for years. Says a lot about the content and moreover what it all meant. Though Austin vs Angle had good action.

I still think Rap Is Crap is brilliant. Hilarious how it babyfaced Hennig and the lads.

Pretty sure they simply chose to re-focus the angle solely on Austin and Rock. Not a bad call in hindsight! Debra being out there would have complicated the Vince angle at the end also. Wouldn't really have been as good if Austin won by hitting Rock with a baking tray over and over.Â

I can see they're invested in the characters and don't begrudge people liking them, it's been a long while since the catchphrase-based acts have been pushed heavily. I just don't get half of what they're on about. Maybe I am getting old.Â
-
Still don't get the 'Enzo and Cass' act. What's so good about it? They come out, say a load of total nonsense and then lose.

Top stuff!Â

If you arent watching Raw, you should. Its fucking class up to now. So good in fact, I'm listening to Jerry Flynn's WCW theme during the commercial break to keep the momentum going.

Undertaker/Lesnar III in The Block for the main.

A lot of the Attitude era stuff hasn't aged well, but this was an exciting watch when I stumbled over it a few days back.

I thought he was a dreadful heel for much of his run, but then a revelation as a babyface, especially in that series with Rusev. I'd like to see them give him more in this current role, for sure.

From Wiki: "A brass ring is a small grabbable ring that a dispenser presents to a carousel rider during the course of a ride. Usually there are a large number of iron rings and one brass one, or just a few. It takes some dexterity to grab a ring from the dispenser as the carousel rotates. The iron rings can be tossed at a target as an amusement. Typically, getting the brass ring gets the rider some sort of prize when presented to the operator. The prize often is a free repeat ride. The phrase to grab the brass ring is derived from this device".

I watched this last night and it was terrific. 1992's Bossman vs Barbarian?!

What do you define as "classic"? The WWF in the late 80s/early 90s wasn't about classic matches. It wasnt to pretty in the ring, but DiBiase and Andre's feud with the Mega Powers was as classic as anything from that era. As was the Jake the Snake feud, and the Virgil feud. It was all about the angles and big characters back then. Its what they were selling.
Â
I appreciate this, but I just find it interesting... I don't think he ever had that great in-ring outing. The cage match with IRS against the Steiners was probably closest.

I think this was my favourite one. Possibly my favourite era ever in wrestling, which helps! Amazing to think how much notable stuff happened in such a short time. September 22nd alone, more notable stuff than in a number of full years since!
