  1. Trying too hard to not look bothered by being nominated. Personally, I find you quite funny at times and in fairness you are probably just getting into the spirit but it does come across (to me at least) like you are forcing the point that you aren't bothered to the extent that it gives the impression that you are.

  2. I'm up for three awards this year as opposed to none last year. I won't win any like:(

The three you are up for are not ones you would want to be nominated for though are they.

I don't particularly mind, its not like i'm running away with the votes. In some cases perfectly ok posters are beating me so i'm not taking my entry into them that seriously.

Then why bleat on about it all the time?

  3. Mab, if only for the reason that he is completely oblivious as to why he is so shit. pro ev was a contender but he knows that he is a bell end where as Mab thinks he is a decent guy. The other reason for voting Mab is after last years fiasco, he said how he didn't care what the members thought of him but then tried to change his posting style to suit others and even said that's what he was doing.

At least he used to be his own mong but now he is the forum bitch. He has improved and sees that as some form of penance but he's gone from being terribly annoying to boring and repulsive. The fact that he sees this as improvement is reason alone to vote for him.

  4. I haven't followed much TV throughout the last few years. Last night I watched (and gave up on) 'Kiss the girls.'

But during the adverts, a promo video for a re-run of 'Dead set' aired.

How did I miss this? I am fascinated with the zombie/apocalyptic theme, and mixing Big Brother in to it! Well, before I exclaimed 'Fantastic!' I was wondering how main characters resembling BB contestants will be glue to hold the film together.

I checked out some clips on E4, and wow! The parody of Big Brother was hilarious! And the other scenes I saw got my interest peaked. Looks like a more serious 'Shaun of the dead,' with of course the notable running zombies.

So, for anyone who watched it, how was 'Dead set?'

I did try doing a search, but I always get the 'something went wrong' message when I do searched on the UKFF.

  5. On the doctor who forums its either Chiwetel Ejiofor or Paterson Joseph

I can see The Daily Mail doing a piece about foreign Doctors taking our jerrbs if it goes to a dark skinned gentleman.

  6. I hope it is Danny Dyer just imagine instead of fighting daleks he would be fighting hooliguns

I know in show business you can never say never, but fucking hell....

"These Cybermen are off their nut, vey are pwopah naughty, this could go off at any second".

  7. I'd like to say it was the usual over-hyped Kubrick mess

Which Kubrick films in particular are you referring to here? I'm not looking to string you up, I've only watched a couple of Kubrick films myself. I was just curious.

In particular it's A Clockwork Orange and 2001: A Space Oddessy. Full Metal Jacket is good during the training scenes, but ends up falling apart as a whole. I can barely remember Eyes Wide Shut but I think that was another one.

I quite like Spartacus and Dr. Strangelove though.

I watched A Clockwork Orange in my early teens, so can't really remember it. I remember thinking it was a bit weird. I will watch it again at some point.

Full Metal Jacket is one of my favourite films however. I always view it as 2 mini films, and admit the first part is the better/stronger part. But I still enjoy the whole film and think the second part is better than some war films.

I do think that maybe some of Kubrick's work will be more appreciated on multiple viewings, but I really can't bring myself to sit through A Clockwork Orange again. May give Full Metal Jacket another whirl though.

Full Metal Jacket and A Clockwork Orange work for me, Full Metal Jacket starts with totalitarian control and then switches to anarchy while the opposite is true of A Clockwork Orange.

I have to be honest though, I can accept the accusation that Kubrick films are boring and plodding but to suggest that they are nothing but totally controlled in their direction, I think that's what you meant by the 'Kubrick mess' term, is patently absurd.

  8. I agree in part about the comedy aspect, do you think that could be down to Nicholsons performances in films since The Shining, if you know what I mean? It's practically expected for Jack to go overboard these days but it wasn't at the time of The Shining?

I will admit to being biased though, Rod. Not only is The Shining one of my favourite films (I thought both the book and the mini series were terrible BTW) but I'm something of a Kubrick fanboy.
