  1. 23 Feb - Wladimir Klitschko vs. Sultan Ibragimov

Is Sultan the current heavyweight champ?.. And the other guy is the brother of the former champ Vitali right? (or am I getting them mixed up?)
  2. Can anyone recommend me any Black comedies?.. Im really into them at the moment.. Things like Barbershop, Friday, Norbit, Tyler Perry Movies, etc etc.

    racist.
Knew someone would come out with that! What can I say.. the african american race tend to make hilarious films!Anyway.. I have some to add to my list.. Booty CallThe WoodCan anyone suggest any more?? Looking for a bit of black humour.. spiced up with a bit of drama!
  3. War

Watched this earlier today.. it was OK. Jet Li is always a badass.. Statham has had better films. I actually enjoyed it a bit less than I thought I would though (being a huge Jet Li fan)

One thing that was surprising... (spoilers just incase it ruins it for anyone)

The twist at the end.. it was one of those films that you really didnt expect a twist to be put it. Normally its just a 'bad guy gets personal with good guy.. good guy kills bad guy'... but this one took a totally different turn.. and I think it was pretty well done.

  4. Mr Woodcock

Not really a great film. Didnt go in expecting much to be honest, Billy Bob Thornton was really good though. A film that had some good laughs, but I wouldnt watch it again.

I now pronounce you Chuck and Larry

Even worse.. Just thought the whole plot was shit. The jokes had Cena/HHH written all over it. Its a shame aswell because Sandler is usually pretty good.. and the fat guy was good in Hitch.

  5. Superbad

This was pretty good.. not as funny as some people are saying (I found 40 year old virgin and Knocked up much funnier).. but it did have some real laugh out loud moments. I thought McLovin was the funniest of the lot.. I couldnt stop laughing at the inhaler scene (one of the scenes I didnt really expect to laugh at). Rogen didnt have as much of a role as I hoped.. I've loved nearly all of his film appearances so far.

Overall.. something I'd probably watch again for some of the jokes.. but way behind Knocked up and 40 Year old virgin.

    Death Proof

I fucking LOVED this! Seriously.. I didnt expect to like it that much.. but it was just great. The film didnt have much of a point to it in story terms.. but fuck it.. it was a great movie.. not like the usual Tarantino movies where the scenes are scattered around.. but he did add an annoying 'old fashioned' effect to the screen.

Kurt Russell was awesome.. Zoe Bell was awesome.. and the black girl stole the show

    Great film!

  6. Yeah I thought that too! Hasnt even been shown on Sky yet?

The same thing happened with Terminator 3. It found its way on FIVE out of the blue (I think it was a year after it was released aswell!

    Anyway..

    Death Sentence

My girl ended up chosing this one over 1408 (surprisingly!). It was OK. Not as bad as some of the reviews its been getting.. but not that great either.

Most of it was an exact rewrite of Taxi Driver... especially the last 15 minutes or so! I dont know if thats what was intended.. but some of the scenes looked like an identical copy.

Kevin Bacon was pretty good.. but I dont think I'd ever be able to see him in the same way since he starred in The Woodsman!

    40 Year Old Virgin

I watched this again yesterday (probably for the 3rd time).. and even though I know all the jokes.. its still just hilarious!! Seth Rogen is fastly becoming my favourite actor at the moment.

  7. Little Miss SunshineFinally watched this lastnight after brilliant reviews. I thought it was a really good film.. the acting was top notch.. and that girl was so adorable! I just couldnt help but feel that it lacked a bit? Probably that 'must see it again' factor. It was a different movie to the usual 'girl has far fetched dream.. girl gets dream'. Had some really funny moments in it too. Overall.. I really good film to watch.. but just once.

Would you say you were a bit dissapointed with the ending? I thought it just fell flat a bit...
I know what you mean, it was just like "right, let's go home now". But it was a very funny ending.

and Queen Latifa's line on the white people was just hilarious!

    Was that the 'suberb' line?
Yep thats the line! And as for Little Miss Sunshine.. yeah I thought the ending was just like thrown in your face out of nowhere. It was probably the point of the movie I guess.. but it did feel like it was lacking something.Rush Hour 3I absolutely LOVED this! Its the kind of movie that I really get into. I loved Rush Hour 1 (and to a slightly lesser extent Rush Hour 2) and this was amongst them for sure. Some of Chris Tucker's lines were side splitting. This is the first film in the Cinema's ive watched where the audience was laughing that much since 40 Year Old Virgin.Great film for some cheap and immature laughs. Cant really go wrong with a Jackie Chan/Tucker combo
  8. Hairspray - Right, I didn't go out of my way to see this, I just didn't have a choice after Harry Potter was still fully booked and sold out by the time we got to the cinema. It was a choice of this or Evan Almighty. The first 10 minutes I'm sitting their thinking 'what the fuck am I doing here?'. By the time the film finished I was smiling from ear to ear. I loved it, really really loved it. It was cheesy, funny and had a real touching story to it underneath the glitter and outragous costumes. John Travolta is a legend in this film. The best thing he's done since Pulp Fiction IMO. I quite like funny muscials anyway (Little Shop of Horrors, The Producers), but I was really surprised as to how funny this was. Oh, and I was having very wrong throughts about Amanda Bynes and a lollipop all evening.

Agree with all of that.. I also went into it because of reasons other than my own interests.. but ended up loving it! I even ended up enjoying some of the songs! Quality film.. and Queen Latifa's line on the white people was just hilarious!Anyway...Little Miss SunshineFinally watched this lastnight after brilliant reviews. 9. Taxi DriverI liked this.. It was a good film.. had a good story and seeing Jodie Foster that young was as wrong as Natalie Portman in Leon The Professional!Whilst it was a good movie.. it wasnt as good as some people made it out to be. I still think The Departed is better.. Goodfellas is better... but this was miles ahead of Donnie Brasco.Id probably give it a 7/10 if I was to rate it.A Bronx Tale is next!
