  1. For a more "Casual" ROH fan, what are the best DVDs to focus on?

for example: Death before dishonor, supercard of honor, survival of the fittest, final battle etc. Basically the main cards? Or are some of the inbetween shows also good for getting?

I really want to start collecting thse shows, as ROH production has really picked up in the past year or so, but i cant be doing with 500+ dvds.

  2. I don't understand what Duane is hoping to achieve posting this shit endlessly on here. No-one, aside from that idiot Steveo2007, is in the slightest agreement with anything that he ever posts.

Plus, he never EVER addresses any of the quite often intelligent points, in-between the justified "You tinfoil hat spacker!" insults he regularly gets, that counter the stuff he raises.

Also, once again, he's 35 years old.

I've no problem answering questions, but really it's about people checking out stuff for themselves, do your own research, look it up and decide for yourself if it's a load bollocks or some truth in whatever I've posted.

No, I'm not 34, I'll BE 35 this year, keep up Gladdy ;)

You are 6 years younger than my dad duane!

Bar that most people do make there own minds up, we jsut dont get the stuff on par with simple maths. Did you also know that think works the other way round duane? Like if you take your age this year from the year (so for me its 2011- 23) and you get the year you were born?Amazing eh?

  3. Black Swan

I loved this movie. i cant really say alot without spoiling it, but (for example) i had heard its a "Sister" movie to "The Wrestler", as aparently is very similar. Now this is true.......in part, but other than that it gets very dark and leaves you with one or two minor questions unanswered, (or at least i thought so anyway.).

This film gave me 100% more than i ever expected from it, and natalie portman is really really awesome, (how had i not seen her in anything before?).

If you can get out there and see it,

    9/10, great film!

  4. I used to rent those original spiderman movies when i was kid, and they were awesome. The only bad thing was the mask was attached to the top, so he would be half starkers when he changed into spiderman!

Are you sure? In The Dragon's Challenge his mask is just a normal head mask like you would expect. I think you got the wrong version ;)

I mostly base all my spiderman knowledge on the 1990's cartoon though, which was great!

Indeed. I grew up with that as a child.

i think at least one of the movies its attached......as i remember him having to take his shirt off, or maybe i was thinking of some sort of spiderman porn or something. Bar that i remeber it being very good for a kid who'd at that time only ever seen the spiderman 60's cartoon!

  5. I remeber from those hulk: Tv series/movies they did some cross overs with daredevil and THOR, not to sure about the others though.

  6. Just saw Black Swan and was completely blown away. Natalie Portman is nailed on for Best Actress in pretty much every award for my money, its an incredible performance. It's just a brilliant film from start to finish, Aronofsky has said openly its somewhat of a sister piece to The Wrestler and theres a lot of parallel's between the two. Definitely one to see.

See i really want to see this, as the advert had me very interested. Although the Mrs wants to see that 127 hours jobby, which im sure is great......but i just cant see how a boke stuck in the rocks for 2 hours is entertaining. I mean i know he cuts his arm off.....so i jsut cant be bothered with it!

  7. Does Eric young still have the old TNA title? And im guessing they are having a new "normal" title done? As it'd loose all credibility if eric young just gave it back after 3 months of arse-ing about with it.

(not that it had any credability before like.......but you know what i mean.)

  8. Looks like he has web shooters as well on his wrists.

I hope he doesn't. That was one of the best things about the Raimi movies: they acknowledged that spider-silk technology hasn't been uncovered yet, and that it's unlikely to be by some spotty teenager, no matter how intelligent or clever he is. It made much more sense that they appeared on his wrists biologically, especially as his mutation seemed to cover everything else except extra limbs.

But was the point not that he just came up with the idea, rather the idea came to him due to the spider bite. Kinda like how spiders just know how to do it rather then learn? He has some sort of yellow lights on his wrist that's why I said that.

Might just be me but the "yellow lights" just look like a bit of light coming from behind him. Might be wrong, but it looks like there is some sort of light behind him and the light is just peeking into shot past his hands.

  9. Last night i got taken out to the ole cinema (or if your of a certain age like me you may still call it the pictures! And im only 22, maybe im just sad), to watch:

    TRON: Legacy

Ok so i hadent seen the first movie, although i was well aware of the general outline of the first movie. I was going to hunt it down before i saw this one, although i got taken out.....so i didnt have time, but it will be interesting to now go back and watch it.

From what i'd heard from a few people, the story was a bit cack or generally the film was a bit cack. Well all i can say is, story wise......i wouldnt say cack, more "Straight forward", and im guessing this is for the people who hadent seen the first one like me, as it did a lot of explaining about the general idea of the first movie, and the gap inbetween, thus making the rest of the story fair play......and although maybe not to everybodys taste, to me it made perfect sense.

Either way, i found it highley entertaining, but the visuals........WOW. I mean i was expecting something visually good, but by god it was visually stunning. For me this instantly marked it up several notches, as unlike skyline (which in itself was also visually stunning) EVERYTHING was done to a T, and otherwise.....again......just ........WOW.

I wont spoil they story, but all i can say about it is the story is good, the visuals/music/Daft punk cameo are awesome, and i loved this movie. I can see how you could be really critical about films ans say "yeah it looked great, but the story was shit", but again the story was fairly straight forward and made sense to me, and otherwise again......WOW.

A great movie, maybe more one for the guys who love some great visual scences ,(Dont know why, but id imagine if you enjoyed watchmen like i did, you'll enjoy this), but otherwise a good movie.

The only down point is, although i gotten taken to see it by a friend he picked the 3D viewing. The movie displayed a message saying it was filmed in 2d, and was ment to be shown this was......so basically although there is 3D elements, its nearly non-existant.......so go for 2D and save youself the money, as id guess it wouldnt make much difference.

    So yeh, i loved it!

    8/10!

I thought that message came up because the scenes in 'the real world' were filmed in 2d but 'the computer world' were filmed in 3d and it was just a warning to say, 'dont take your glasses off, some 3d is coming.'

Well aparently according to the message, they'd re-done some parts in 3d, as some of the opening parts in the real world were in 3D, but it means the film was supposed to be shown in 2D.......so the parts that are in 3d, arent really noticable, and you may waste a bit of money.

  10. Finally got around to watching Shutter Island which is directed by someone who has been called Americas greatest living director Martin Scorscse and stars Leonardo Di Caprio who I think could be the best actor this generation. (A bold statement but one I stand by).

The film itself is just ok. Leo gives a great performance as per usual, as does Ben Kingsley and it is beautifully shot but I didn't really like much else. Believe it or not I called the "plot twist" almost immediately (apart from the anagram stuff) and I just found the whole movie quite boring. So much going on but nothing really happening.

Like I said I knew almost immediately that Leo was really a patient on the island (The fact that it is a psychological thriller pretty much gave it away) but I did like the very end in which he forces them to lobotomise him rather than him continue living with what he had done. "Live as a monster, or die as a good man."

Michelle Williams is just plain awful. I've never seen her give a good performance. Ever. (Never seen Brokeback Mountain.) If Seven can name 10 people who could do a better Joker than Heath Ledger then I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult to name 20 actresses that could have done a better job than Williams here. Speaking of Ledger, was this filmed before or after he died? If it was after then I suppose I could cut her some slack.

So, yeah, I didn't think much of Shutter Island but at least I can say I've seen it finally. If I had to rate it I'd give it 4/10. Not even Leo could save it. :(

    Wow really?

I knew about the plot twist going into the film (id read up on it before i got there) but i loved it! A great movie, with loads of "did that really happen" sort of things thrown in, and everybody acted great in it. If it helps, give it another go as a friend of mine said exactley the same thing, but watched it again recently and loved it.

  12. Would it be that sad, if all of this stuff was infact complete bollocks?

i mean im nota believer or anything like that, but id like to think there is life out there in the universe etc etc, but for me anything like aliens/random shit happening/ghosts/crazy conspiricys/other general fictional stuff........its just all really really aload of bollocks. Again id love for aliens to be real, and even the concept they could travel X ammount of millions of lights years to seek out (in terms of interstella travelling alien contrast) a level of life form that is very much benieth them.

Again religion/other fictional stuff is great and i wish people all the best in there faith/conspiricy theories, but is it so hard to accept that yes out origins are a mystery, but it's more likely to be something alot more scientific that aliens or a mythical creator, etc etc.

Would it be that bad if life really was that straight forward?

  13. I have CLUE!! Very good little film, yes there is about 5 or 6 different endings. Also quite possibly Tim Curry's best performance in a FILM (before anyone starts about Pennywise) apart from Rocky Horror.

Have got it on my hard drive so if anyone wants a copy PM away.

What about muppet treasure island? Thats a great tim curry shout, either that or (although the film it self was cack) Oscar (with sly stallone). Although i never noticed but he was in a few movies that id seen, although i just didnt recognise him without his beard!

  14. Yet X ammount of time in, (as a race i tihnk the mayans didnt last that long), they either all killed each other, generally died out or got invaided and killed. So well done mayans, fucking well done.

Erm, the Mayan people are still around today, so even after the Spainish ran roughshod over them, yeah ... well done Mayans.

Im aware the are still on going, but from what i can see its not how it was when the mayans where a huge race. i think at best they never were a massive "race" of people, but correct in saying well done to them. Again one of the older mayan tribe members has also said its pure bollocks, yet nobody reports that do they?

  15. Can I have some opinions on the films below.. thinking of watching one tonight.

    Crazy Heart

    Men who stare at goats

    long kiss goodnight

    The last samurai.

That one is top notch, i really reall like this movie. Tom cruise is fucking pure gold acting wise in this, spot on! Id recommend this by a country mile!

  16. Had to vote for pac/Haskins vs cima/dragon kid! On the night, and since then...........its the best match i think iver ever seen. The falls were so close, i could not actual come close to guessing who was goign to win. And the finish was great!

Cant believe , so far, it hasnt been voted higher!

  17. Oh, is it a Mayan thing? I thought it was just as simple as having lots of 1s and 2s in the date because that's usually as little as it takes to get berks like Steveo worked up.

The idea is the mayans worked out this massive calender, and if you work it all out, the last date is the 21st, of the 12th........2012. But thats just it, its litterally just the fact its the end of the calender, nothing else. But people are banging on about this things "Oh it must be the end of the world". Yes, because it being jsut the end of the caldener is a crazy idea and it being the end of the world is a far more sane idea.........isn't it?

Do these people always think the world is ending every year? And all year, every year the say "31st of december, its the end of the WORLD!!!". christ

Why could the Mayans predict some renewal shit 400 years later on, but they couldn't see the Spanish over the hill. Fat load of good this future shit did them.

Exactly, they were very good at maths. Hence why they had this massive calender. Its got nothing to do with space/the stars or owt like that. They just worked out how many days are in a day/month/year and made a huge calender. Yet X ammount of time in, (as a race i tihnk the mayans didnt last that long), they either all killed each other, generally died out or got invaided and killed. So well done mayans, fucking well done.

  18. 2012 is getting closer, I can imagine more things like this will happen as 21.12.2012 draws ever closer.

Not to start a big thing about that whole 2012 bollocks, but its is all pure bollocks you understand? its been said many a time by historians/experts (and i user that term in reference to various professors who study the mayans (sp?)), the the Mayan Callender ends on the 21st of december 2012...........because that is when they stopped making the damn calender. It doesnt mean anything, Mayans could see, nor predict anything at all, and although very good at maths to work out a very long calender, they just stopped at a certain point, and it looks like it was on that date. Did they pick that date to stop at? Who knows, but i doubt it.

So on that day, nothing is going to happen. At all. Other than the winter solstice of that year. All people of importance, (Professors, Historians, mayanic experts specifically and i even remeber a guy who is decended from mayans,[who consults on mayan history]), have said its all complete bollocks. I cannot stand the fact that when discovering this mayan calander, they must of said "I wonder why it runs out on this date?", to which the other replied jokingly "Maybe its the end of the world? LOL". Since then somebody has picked this up, and its spread liek wild fire around the world to a point where (mostly) anybody who knows anything about the 2012 thing, thinks the world is going to end.

    Christ alive.

  19. Also happened in the terrible US series FlashForward. Though I forgive you all for not knowing that, as it was terrible.

I actually really liked Flash Forward. I was pretty pissed off that they left us on a cliffhanger then cancelled it!

I didnt watch it, although how many "Insert crazy sci-fi related storyline here" storys can the US do at one time? for example, there was LOST, then 4400 .........then heros, then flashforward.

To mean it came across as: "This friday, why not watch this crazy program. Everybody sees all this crazy shit, but what does it mean?" etc etc. Basically, we'd kind of seen the whole "What the hell is going on?" sort of thing before.
