The Sabre incident is the fact he’s remained silent since last summer on all the accusations against his mates. And the fact he is/was sponsored by SPLX which one of the accused runs.

To be fair to Sabre I'd keep as far away from that topic as humanly possible. I guess the question is can you seperate business dealings from personal behaviours of the alleged perp? I'm a tad more Liberal when money is concerned in the sense that I'd only stop working w an individual who is convicted or where there is undisputable evidence (i.e texts apologising, pics or videos implicating, multiple witnesses to the events etc)

I guess each is to their own but I'd certainly be reluctant to demand he make a statement. Esp given how many others who actively knew people were doing shitty things stayed silent (i.e businesses, Hollywood, politics etc). He probably wouldn't be on my grievance shit list.

That's not to say people shouldn't be held to account for their shitty behaviour, just that guilt by association isn't all that reasonable in some instances.

That's just not true in the slightest, it's lazy Cornette talk that everyone on the roster is some midget that looks like a fan.

I didn't say them all. But many of them simply don't carry themselves w any kind of aura. The big guys they do have need to be used much more effectively.

Maybe I'm just used to see guys like Taker, Kane, Reigns, Lesnar, HHH at el who look like they could kill you. Rarely do I get that vibe from many of the roster. And I say that as someone who wrestled at 140lb!

The other thing that comes to mind is that, even if these guys aren't on average as tall as WWE wrestlers, it's still something that makes the signing of Paul Wight work - anything that makes him look even more of a giant is a plus anyway.

Personally, what I'd like to see is a series of vignettes, perhaps talking heads with Wight and others, about how he left WWE for a while to take time off and rehab injuries, got himself a new "training camp" (like the Nightmare Family or Team Taz or something), and now he's back to full health, probably as dangerous as he's ever been, etc.

If agree if he had any kind of mileage but he has been around 20+ years, isn't half thhe athlete he was in 1996 and whilst I agree his name value may bring eyeballs in the short term, I don't see anyone tuning in just to watch Show. He has been fairly irrelevant for the past decade.

I wonder what the rationale is for Vince wanting to sell. For most of my life as a wrestling fan I'd have told you that was slightly more unthinkable than Undertaker losing his streak. Maybe I've been worked and I'm severely underestimating the power of mo money, but the guy's already got more cash than he can spend for the rest of his weird life and they've always trumpeted WWE being a family run business. It's been a publicly traded behemoth for years - granted - but actually selling the company and bringing it under the umbrella of a larger entity is a different ball game.

Doubtless the McMahon/Helmsley regime will retain executive control over the creative direction of the product - they're after all the only ones who can actually understand and operate WWE to the suits minds - but selling really widens the possibilities of where WWE could go and what could happen to it. It'd be as big a story as Vince passing.

Maybe he's a businessman first and foremost, and selling your company for an astronomical sum to an astronomical entity is still one of the gold medals of business, regardless of how proud of it he is. It's interesting.

I think it's the fact for decades he has put his brand on a pedastal w the history etc. I have no doubt he has little emotional connection to wrestling, its all about the money.

I suppose the question is if its too late to rehab the allure of a 49 year old Paul Wight after being so lazily mismanaged and booked as almost a regular sized wrestler for most of his WWE tenure. Scandalous really.

What he has on his side is that due to his sheer size, no one is expecting him to perform any flashy or even athletic moves.

If booked right there's no reason why he can't be protected and extend his career, just looking menacing compared to some of the midgets already on the roster could be a spectacle in itself.

But how that matches up with him presumably cracking jokes on colour commentary is another question entirely.

I'd argue that him being there would just highlight how small most of their roster is. Most of them don't look like wrestlers which doesn't help.

Fucking hell, man. Genuinely sorry to read that. I hope one day you'll feel confident and safe enough to tell somebody about it.

It was 13 years ago and he has left the job since. I had proof I was being harassed and got told not to rock the boat or my career may be compromised. It's one of those things but it's fairly common. It's one of those things. Thanks!

I honestly feel like the world has had so much other shit going on that this has mostly been forgotten about.

It'll take a lot of pressure and digging it all up again in a few months to really put it back in the spotlight and for it to be taken seriously again.

I'm sure there are those out there that will take responsibility for doing so. It's just a tough time right now.

I don't think there is a will to change it sadly. Some businesses think its blown out of proportion. Others don't want the hassle. Some don't want the media spotlight so shut the convo down. It seems rife in every area of work. I work in health and got groped by a colleague and they told me not to make a fuss.

  8. Weirdly Funk looked about 90 in the 80s. He certainly didn't age well. I saw him years ago in the UK and he looked like a grandad that needed a mobility scooter. Bless him, he really did stick around too long. What a fantastic wrestler though. Don't make em like that anymore..

I'm wondering what point the OP was making but I appreciate the intention. Was it that he looked much older in 1997 than a alot of those guys do now?

  9. Idd probably say the Ladder Match from No Mercy 1999 - Hardys vs E&C. It really kicked off the 'top this' mentality that over the years has shortened many a career. As stunningly superb as that and subsequent matches are, I can't help but wonder what impact that had on drug addiction of those who copied it for years after.

  10. Books. Literally hundreds. I am probably over 1000 now and its out of control. My wife has to restrict me otherwise I can't pass a charity shop or bookshop without buying one! Its quite a problem when I go to London or big cities.

If you see on Facebook The Daily Mail article link posted about it the comments section is filled with absolute mutants of the highest order. So much transphobic hate and ridicule.

A lot of the hate comes from people who are saying being transgender goes against Christianity and then there's the lads talking about taking "her" on for a laugh.

Fuck that paper and its readers in the bin.

I just had a look and TBH it wasn't half as bad as I expected. I've known 8 trans people and the hate they get can be disgusting. Literally saying they aren't human.

My interest in WWE is at an all time low. I'm really struggling to muster any enthusiasm for it at all. Shows like this don't help that. I didn't have a problem with Edge winning, looking at the match on it's own merits he was a good shout for the winner. I don't like the options for him though as a title challenger.

Edge Vs McIntyre or Edge Vs Roman don't do anything for me, and really, Edge should also be losing to both of them, so the whole story idea they are going to play up, that of Edge chasing the title he never lost, will fall a little flat. Unless they switch the champions before then (I hope they don't do that either, Drew and Roman are the best place for both titles to be at the moment).

A poor show overall, with the Rumble being an incredible drop off from last year's effort. As well as that, the match I expected to deliver, Reigns Vs Owens, was a mess.

Certainly agree here. Edge v McIntyre has 2010 midcard written all over it. I also don't really feel Reigns v Edge either. It's all so beige, nothing exciting even though both would be new..

  13. Ahmed Johnson! Totally crap, botchamania come to life,, always  getting injured or injuring other people. But he looked like a monster and I'd have loved to see him v Taker instead of  Taker v Faroooq in 1997.
