In my local we actually ban use of Google to solve arguments as it takes all the fun out of a pointless shit argument in the pub over whether Flowers in the Rain or Fire Brigade was the first song played on Radio 1 and the like.

And for the record, Dave the Liar, it fucking well was Flowers in the Rain.

If you really wanted to be pedantic, Flowers in the Rain was the first "complete" tune to be played on Radio 1.

The first piece of music was an excerpt from Beefeaters by Johnny Dankworth.

  2. I think I heard about it in Powerslam and had a look during a break at work back in 2004.

Joined up, got into an arguement with Moo about James Whale, got called a gimmick poster for enjoying Wrestle 1 and Hustle 1, then just occasionally pop up now and then.

In truth, I read the threads more than I post.

    Happy 20th UKFF!

Edit: And i will never forget the Del in Alberto Del Rio. Called him Albert Rio once, dear oh dear!

  3. I never really thought about it growing up.

Grew up watching the British wrestling and then moved on to the WWF, I just accepted it as what it was.

The first time I had a "It's fake moment" was reading an issue of WWF Magazine when they were on about "Chyna playing a heel". I was actually in my late teens at this point, but I'd grown up with a family of wrestling fans, so no one had scoffed at me when I watched it as well.

That said, watching Taker rise to the heavens at Rumble 94 should have clued me in somewhat!

I remember catching Bushido on Eurosport in the mid 90s and I totally believed that was real.

I went to Insurrextion 2003 in Newcastle, the last UK only PPV I believe.  The 'highlight' of the show was a Highlight Reel segment with Jericho, Austin, and Bischoff, who were clearly having a blast just pissing around in what was essentially a house show.

Rest of the show was total nothing, and yet I still spent £15 on the VHS just because "I was there".  Also got the t-shirt from the show at my parents home, and will occasionally still where it when I visit them at Christmas due to lack of alternatives.

Glad it wasn't just me. I was at that show as well and to be honest I was bored.

My highlight was Paul Heyman calling the crowd Wankers and I personally popped for the Dudleys.

Went to a Smackdown house show a year later and enjoyed that loads more.

  5. EDIT: Managed to find it. Thanks for looking anyway.

I realise this is a long shot as it rarely turns up on ebay and I'd need to mortgage my house to get it on Amazon, but, does anyone have Naked Video Series 3 on DVD that they'd be willing to sell?

After the original to complete the released trilogy.

  6. Was Big Boss Man ever, even once, on a b show, even in passing, ever referred to as Top Boss Man?

Back when my dad used to get the WWF recorded from Sky from a friend when I was about 8 years old, I seem to remember seeing him and the caption on the screen said "Top Boss Man".

Did this happen, or have I got the weirdest case of false memory syndrome?

Like his fellow paisan Paul Roma, Joey Styles is a man you either fear or respect.

Seriously, who did JBL think he was messing with?

He actually blocked me on Twitter!

He was having a rant about Internet Wrestling fans knowing absolutely nothing and I replied with "What about Cyberslam?".

    Blocked!
