  1. Why was X-Pac called X-Pac?

Most wrestlers have a name that comes across as either a normal name (eg Lance Storm, Matt Hardy) or a character (eg The Undertaker) or even a bad pun (eg Hugh G Rection!), but what the hell does X-Pac mean? Is it slang, is it an acronym, is it from something? Anyone?!!!

-When he was a kid he was a fast wrestler so he called himself "Lightening Kid"

-When he was in WWF he was called "The Kid"

-When he beat Razor Ramon in a shock victory and the fans chanted "123" at Ramon, they named him the 123 Kid.

-When he left for WCW, he was the sixth member of the nWo, so they called him Syxx (and because 1+2+3= 6)

-When they were in the Wolfpac, because of their gangsta style gimmick, Hall and Nash called him Syxx-Pac (as in Tupac).

-When he joined DX he became X-Pac.

Just like Pulp Fiction, it all makes sense in the end.

Well, if you put it like that!

    Thanks :)

  3. SOAD's first album is great but it's all downhill from there.

    I agree with Mr Seven.

Loved the first album, had a good mix of metal and humour and then they just kind of tailed off.

I am not saying the following albums were bad, but they just weren't as good as the first one.

    - The Kombucha Mushroom People

Edit: Probably my favourite track from the first album.

  4. What was the WWF event where Big Boss Man cuffed Dusty Rhodes to the ropes and beat ten bags of crap out of him with his night stick?

I remember seeing it live and then again a few years later on VHS, was the VHS version of whatever event it was shorter than the live version?

Sorry, I sold all my old Coliseum vids years ago, so I couldn't go back for reference.

    Thanks.

  5. Anybody checked out Fear Factory's latest album 'Mechanize'? Any good?

It's not too bad, kind of back to thier old sound but none of the tracks stand out at all.

On the topic of heaviness i'd have to say bands like Sunn and Moss, the bass filled droney bands that make you feel like your bowels will explode.

Fear Campaign and Powershifter are the two I keep playing from it.

  6. Depends on your definition of "heavy."

To me, heaviness incorporates an element of catchiness. It's not about making the lowest, loudest, fastest or most disturbing sound possible, it's about creating the desired mood, whether that's aggression, despair, hatred or whatever.

At the moment, on that basis, I'd be likely to go for "Lashed to the Slave Stick" by Nile. Ask me tomorrow and you'll probably get a completely different answer.

That is a fair point, how did I define heavy? I think I was going for how loud it was, but still being a track, and still being in the metal genre. So, for example, hardcore gabba wouldn't count, neither would some guy just generally making noise.

Here is Anaal Nathrakh's Pandemonic Hyperblast to show what I was aiming at. Apologies for some of the comments on the video, but I can't control Youtube.

and it's tomorrow, what is the heaviest track recorded?

  7. What is the heaviest song ever recorded?

Serious question, I did a bit of research into this a couple of years ago for a radio show I do and came to the conclusion that is was Anaal Nathrakh's Pandemonic Hyperblast, which I then proceeded to play. The resulting e-mails were a lot of fun!

Anyway, it's been two years on, in your opinion has anything surpassed it?

  8. I remember on the "This Is Extreme" montage on some of my ECW videos, there is a segment where Steve Corino is arguing with Fred Durst.

What was the deal with that?

Also, keeping with ECW videos, I'm guessing it had something to do with copyright, but why on the later ones (I think it was from Anarchy Rulz 2000 onwards), the ECW entrance music was overdubbed with annoying stereotypical dance music.

I didn't actually know until I saw a version someone had taped from the TV, that the opening video was Guilty As Charged 2001 was to RATM's Renegades of Funk as opposed to a looped This Is Extreme.

Final question, on said taped copy, there is an advert for Farmclub.com? What was this supposed to be?

Ooh, lots of questions there, thank you!

  9. A question I can't believe I'm asking, but I've heard differing versions a few times.

During the original run of ECW, did Vince McMahon have anything to do with it. I know there was an ECW / WWF working relationship of sorts, but did Vince do anything else in relation to Extreme Championship Wrestling? Did he bank roll it at all?

  10. Do Highspots have a UK distributor?

I want to order some stuff but I don't want to get killed with shipping costs.

I have never been killed by shipping costs the few times I've used them, that said, the 3 occasions I have bought from them, 2 have been DVDs and one was a book.

  11. I remember back around 1990, there was a wrestling column in the News of the World called Forearm Smash.

It wasn't that great as I recall, but I was wondering if anyone remembered it, had any idea who wrote it and if the guy had any connection at all the wrestling biz or just spouted usual Sunday tabloid crap?
