So, the Woman's World Cup then. Can't see this being discussed anywhere here, figured this was the best place for it. What do we all make of it so far, how do we feel about the Semi Final tonight?
I've really enjoyed watching the handful of games I've managed to catch. The standard from the top teams is pretty good, but there seems to be 2 areas that are well below par, one is the refereeing (although it's improved since the group games), and the other is the general quality of the passing. Even the top teams seem to throw a lot of wayward passes around, especially when playing out from midfield.
Not confident of England's chances tonight though. I think they peaked against a poor Norway team.

The King's Head in Norwich on Magdalen St. Never too busy but a nice atmosphere, you can always get a table, no music, no food, decent beer on tap, no trendy types sipping craft ale, no football lads swigging lager, and a bar billiards table too. Proper good pub if you're ever in this neck of the woods.
Loads of good places to eat down that road too. Some cracking Curry Houses and Kebab shops to be had.

Yeah, he was Ronnie-esque at times, very casually being very amazing. Does Ronnie also do the wizened safety play? He was able to flit between the two and his decision making was impeccable. Quite astonishing, really.
Ronnie can play safety when he wants to. He can basically do what he wants with the cue ball. Depends what mood you catch him in really (much like his entire game.)

Not a fan of Judd Trump the man, but as a player, it's great to see him finally mature and come good. That might be one of the most impressive sessions of snooker from one player I've ever seen. Right up there with Ronnie at his best.

The CGI of the dragons flying was something out of Jason & The Argonauts. Fucking awful compared to how good the CGi usually is in this show.
Yes it was downright dreadful when Jon hopped on. Can only assume they've held back a lot of the budget for the big battle scenes.

I thought for sure when I first saw that it was a Cassette Boy joint. Surprised that it isn't.
It's swedemason. Dude has been killing it for years on youtube and does it for a living now (he did the MasterChef 'Buttery Biscuit Bass' remix that went viral a few years ago, but there's a goldmine of this stuff on his channel)

Think that's us well on the way to promotion now after seeing off Ipswich. Ten years unbeaten in the derby, can't knock it.
That said, I genuinely hope they stay up. I'd love to see both teams prosper - an East Anglian derby in the Prem again one day would be superb. Also, I know it's fashionable to hate on your old manager who's gone to a rival time, but I'll never stop loving Paul Lambert. His three years in charge here were absolutely off the scale. I can't help but wish him well and hopefully he turns it around for them, and both himself and Ipswich can finally get back on track.
Honestly I kinda hope we just go down. Get it over and done with and re-group. I know we could end up sinking further but 18 years of Championship mediocrity is killing the club.

@PunkStep yeah man you got it. Nicely deduced!

An absolute humdinger of a Football Trivia question doing the rounds in the office today. I don't think anyone has got any work done for the last 4 hours because of this. I finally caved and after a bit of googling got the answer.
I've played with:
David Beckham
Ryan Giggs
Ashley Young
Patrick Vieira
Sol Campbell
Aaron Ramsey
Michael Owen
Steven Gerrard
Mo Salah

Thank fuck that's out of the way. Now we can actually start to find out what will happen.
Obviously she will win the VONC tomorrow. The DUP and ERG will back her.
She won't be able to come back with any significant changes to the deal, so at that point, I see motions being brought forward to allow MPs to vote to prevent a No Deal. Which would make the default position to withdraw Article 50 presumably.
Or, there is a decision made to Extend Article 50 and kick the can down the road again. Maybe a General Election then gets called, or else a 2nd Referendum.
I really can't see a No Deal scenario now. Thank fuck

Have you watched Atlanta? I'd say it's in the same territory at times and also does it far better.
Nope, that's Donald Glover isn't it? It's on my list to watch so will get round to it soon.

I stopped watching Black Mirror after Season 2, the existential dread just got to much for me, and I don't need constant bleakness on my Telly these days. Some of the early episodes really fucked with my brain (Fifteen Million Merits especially.)
However, I did play Bandersnatch, and I say play rather than watch, because really it just felt like a game. I was more impressed with how it was implemented so smoothly rather than with the plot or any subtext in it.
I'd argue Inside Number 9 does the dark anthology mini-series with a cunning twist far better than Black Mirror ever has. The sheer quality Shearsmith and Pemberton pump out in each series is frankly staggering. I don't know how they do it so consistently.

@Gus Mears those Roasties look fucking boss.
It’s all about the Bubble & Squeek for me today. Genuinely prefer it to the Christmas Dinner itself.

Any roasted meat needs to be rested for a good hour at least. If only to make room in the oven for everything else. Also it’ll just taste better.
My general rule is the only thing that needs to be served piping hot is the gravy anyway. So I always make that the last thing out of the kitchen in case anything has gotten too lukewarm.
How does everyone serve? Do you plate it all up or have everything out on the table for self service?
its a mix for me. Meat, potatoes and Yorkshire’s are plated up and then all the trimmings are help yourself on the table.

i have never eaten goose, what other meat can it be compared to?
lot of veg prep on here, i am not quite so good, i just use frozen, the shame
It's like really gamey Duck. It's also incredibly fatty and rich. I like it, but it's almost a bit too sickly to have with all the Christmas trimmings I think.

Just knocked off work and doing the big shop tonight. Got £100 worth of Nectar points to blow so we ain't gonna hold back. Will pick up the Pork Belly and some other bits from the Butcher on Monday.
Off to visit the family in Ipswich tomorrow, and am buzzing to get prepping when I'm back home, starting Sunday night (will probably braise the red cabbage first, give it a couple of days to mature.)

I mean, it's one of the greatest performances in the history of TV, so take your pick, and as much as this quote is a bit of a meme now, it is still just bone chilling from Cranston. The way his whole demeanour changes when he turns around and says 'Who are you talking to?' The subtly of the body language, the patronising tone, and then that look on his face at the end when he realises he's given himself away. The mask slips and she sees him as he really is for the first time.
