This sounds extremely familiar to me too!

I know currently there are guidelines on how kids' products are advertised, in terms of not imploring the child to buy it, or suggesting that the kid would be bullied/inferior forĀ notĀ owning the product. But I definitely remember this being a thing that kids' advertising was far more regulated - I have strong memories of watching kids' TV in the late '90s/early '00s and the adverts being full of loan and insurance ads and so on.

It is a thing for food, though - high fat, sugar or salt foods can't be advertised at a time when the majority of the audience are likely to be children, and I don't think they advertise stuff like toys in Happy Meals any more (is that even still a thing?).Ā

    Ā

Yeah, I knew the good thing was still relevant, but I think stricter guidelines weā€™re being considered around 2012 or so (I think).

The toy ad banĀ was so memorable to me. It was more a case of the sudden change. Every advert on Cartoon Network (or whichever I had on) was basically the TV equivalent of the last chapter of an Argos catalogue. NERF, Action Man and everything in between, but then all of a suddenĀ fuck all, and as you say, we ended up with home &Ā insurance adverts. I swear itā€™s the reason my dad ended up with a shit load of carriage clocks & Parker pens.Ā

I just canā€™t seem to find any info about it happening. I havenā€™t looked that hard in fairness, other than a few basic searches, but I assumed that would be enough.

  2. Iā€™m possibly having a Mandela Effect moment (didnā€™t want to bump that thread from 4 years ago).

Iā€™m almost certain I remember a law, or British a Broadcasting policyĀ passing in late 90ā€™s/early 00ā€™sĀ that prevented kids toy & food adverts playing before the watershed. It was deemed unethical to play such adverts during kids TV broadcast (channels such as Nickelodeon & CN). Obviously thatā€™s completely out of the window now.

So I canā€™t find any info about the ban, and the friends I have who might know, canā€™t remember it. So TIL it possibly didnā€™t happen.Ā
Can anyone remember the Bam and help me to prove that my TIL is a lie? Iā€™m trying to find out more specifically when the law changed again, allowing such adverts to broadcast.
    Cheers

  3. Not trying to steer this in to general Public Information vids, but ā€˜Apachesā€˜ (on the farm)Ā is the one that still causes nightmares. Thereā€™s a compilation vid on YouTube thatā€™s called ā€œall the deathsā€ in relation to Apaches.Ā Itā€™s always been grim, but after becoming a dad, itĀ makes me physically shudder in fear.

  4. Michael Scott from the U.S office. Following the last episode of the Office, 10 years after it had aired and people already oblivious as to who he is, but due to his lack of self awareness, he acts exactly how you expect he would. Maybe some occasional cameos from old cast too.

Similar in 2005. Champ Man 96/97, tins of Fosters and the 3c Country Station on freeview.Ā

We both lost our jobs within a month of moving in togetherĀ

Easily done man. We had a narrow escape compared to you though. He was a student and had a final warning about attendance and submission dates, I had a written warning from work.Ā I phoned my boss on the Monday morning, justĀ as we had just reached the January transfer market in season 3. I put on a fake cough,Ā pulled the inevitable sickie and then text my house mate...
ā€œIā€™m staying home, Iā€™m staying home,Ā Iā€™m staying, champ mans turning onā€....Ā in the style of 3 Lions. But I sent it to my boss instead.

  6. A few years back, oneĀ of my mates moved in to my house and rented a room off us for about 6 months.

That 6 months basically consisted ofĀ Rheinbacher,Ā Clancy's spicy peanuts and Champ Manager 98/99 on a daily basis. It was the best 2 stone I ever put on.

A corn bread always goes well with a chilli or similar. Big bold stuff. Looks handsome.Ā

Yeah that came to mind just now actually mate. I also think some kind of chorizo dish could possibly work too.

  8. Iā€™ve just made this jalapeƱo corn bread. With onions, garlic, feta, cumin, Cajun pepper & sour cream. A friend sent me the recipe last night. Canā€™t wait to eat it, but not sure what to have with it.Ā
Maybe some Texas/BBQ style pit beans and smoked sausages, that would probs go well.

  9. Instead of posting loads and clogging the thread up, it made sense for me to share several of our recent episodes in one post.

    Episode 4 - Nation of Isolation.Ā
Weā€™re joined by YouTube human Ashens, as he and his faction of television personalities (suggested by the public) invade and battle with random wrestlers (chosen at random with the WWE Encyclopedia). Ashens must answer wrestling trivia in order to defeat his opponents and reign supreme, with the help of the entirety of Kenya.

Episode 3 - For The Love Of Wrestling Radio.Ā
As Ted DiBiase, IRS & Tatanka will be joining us at FTLOW, we thought it was worth taking a deep dive in to the Million $ Corporation, starting with Teds injury in Japan, up to him leaving for WCW and all members in between.

    https://soundcloud.com/bbgwpod/million-corporation-ftlow-3

    BBG Interviews...Ā
Royce IsaacsĀ from the NWA joins Chris for a chat about his career to date and his time so far with the NWA.

    https://soundcloud.com/bbgwpod/interview-with-royce-isaccs

And obviously feel free to check out the rest of our shows at BBGWrestling.comĀ
We upload between 5 - 7 episodes per week, for our different wrestling playlists.Ā
    Cheers

    Well, I stand corrected.

Happy Shopper have decided to change their entire approach and formula to making Cheese Puffs. The absolute joy that I posted about above (large pieces with a dramatic fake cheese tang) has now been replaced by generic sized pieces, with an underwhelming flavour, making them taste the same as other fake Wotsits.

I finished off the remaining 4 bagsĀ fromĀ the corner shop last week. Delightful, as ever. However, I went in today to pick up the essentials including the typical 4 bags of Cheese Puffs. I pulled apartĀ the top of theĀ first bag and to my horror, the change was noticeable before Iā€™d evenĀ finished opening them. I ate them all to make sure. Iā€™ve now eaten 3 of the 4 bags to confirm my nightmareĀ and well,Ā it clearly wasnā€™t a random rogue bag. They have properlyĀ changed.Ā

Distraught is an understatement. Iā€™ll be writing a strongly worded letter to Happy Shit heads up on completion of the 4th bag. The bastards.Ā

    Part 3Ā
    Ā

Weā€™re back in business. Yup, after what can only be described as a quality sabbatical, Happy Shopper Cheese Puffs have been restored to their former glory. Back to oversized, over flavoured and bloody wonderful.Ā Iā€™m absolutely taking credit for this.

  11. Just to share the fuck out of this. Keep in mind this is the prototype, soĀ still 1 or 2 slight bits to look at (size of pupils, although saying that itā€™s probably accurate for most nights)... itā€™s mint.

  12. Double upload rather than separate posts. I really am trying to resist posting each episode of the pod on here to avoid overkill. Weā€™re uploading 6-7 episodes a week at the moment and expect to do so for some time to come. Iā€™ll cherry pick what to post, but please feel free to check the channel out. The links below are SoundCloud, but we are on Spotify & iTunes etc, along with access fromĀ BBGWrestling.com

    Ā

On episode 3 of Nation of Isolation we have an in-depth chat about the lineage of the Truth Commission. We also talk far more than required about Brakkus.

Weā€™ve also uploaded part 1 of an old interview with Sam Houston. We thought weā€™d lost the audio, but hurray, weā€™ve found it. Part 2 will be up next week.Ā

Hi, I have been converting 100's of old wrestling dvds to MP4 so I have lots of old CZW/ROH/IWA MS shows plus loads of ECW and other indy shows

no longer needed, I thought if anyone was interested email me for a list as i'm adding to it daily. 50p a disc seems fair plus postage?

    Thanks

    Ā

    Iā€™ll have a list please.

    cheers

  14. Lanny Poffo joined us this week for our 1st official episode of...Ā

For The Love Of Wrestling Radio

We had great fun chatting to him about a number of topics regarding his career, Randy, poems and much more. He also chooses a winner from our wrestling poem competition. Some of the entries were insane. We had to filter many out, they will be addressed in due course. Haha.
