  1. Hi all,

I haven’t been posting much on the boards recently. Quite a lot of stuff going on and I’ve been juggling a few fun music projects.

A really good record shop in Newcastle (Beyond Vinyl) recently launched a new record label arm to their business. I’m chuffed to say I’ve signed a deal with them with my 2-piece band, Surreal Prismatics.
I am in couple of a other projects that are very different musically, but this particular duet is a mix of Rock/Punk/garage & Psychedelic/Surf with other vibes going on. Some tracks a bit bit more pop/indie and a few are pretty experimental.

We’ve been making music together for around 12 years or so and the upcoming album is a selection of tracks we have recorded in that time frame.
We released our 1st single last week and it’s all been a fun experience. I’ve been in signed bands in the past and have become pretty jaded over time. So it’s nice that this is 100% fun and enjoyable.

We’re obviously just keen to get the music heard and build a bit of a following. So if it’s your cup of tea, please give our FB page a like/follow, and please share with your pals. It’s really appreciated:

    @SurrealPrismatics

The single itself is called ‘Holiday House’ and is available to listen to at Spotify/iTunes/YouTube/Apple Music/Amazon and others:

I thought this was off? Could swear I read the other week that Roy had dropped out. Is it back on now? Can’t keep up with this shit. Nor have I tried to in all honesty.

Edit - and if they need to bring in another opponent then Holyfield is the obvious choice. Failing that, David Tua if he’s still around. Failing that, Andrew Golota if he’s still a psycho.

I think it was off, but back on and the dates have already changed at least once. It currently seems as though it will go ahead with a live crowd, but only friends/family/entourage allowed in attendance.

I’m interested in it, but I fully appreciate it’s the same level of interest I had in the first ECW reunion event and it’s purely out of nostalgia/curiosity, and if Tyson wasn’t one of the two contestants, I wouldn’t care at all.
‘If’ Tyson absolutely destroys Jones and demonstrates to somehow have the ability to make an actual come back for real title contention (hmmmm), then yeah, I’d be all in. The reality is that simply won’t happen, it’ll be a fun exhibition at best and the purse is going to charity. Still though, it’ll be fun to watch with my dad and a couple of the lads from my boxing club.

  3. I’ve looked through the past few pages and couldn’t find a dedicated thread. Apologies if I’ve missed one.

There we’re several very interesting points mentioned during Tyson’s latest Joe Rogan pod appearance.

As I’m sure everyone will know, Mike has been touted for an in ring return for the best part of the year. Rumours started with a match against Bob Sapp, then Tyson Fury and several interesting names later the world settled on Roy Jones Jr. So here we are.

    What we know:
    - Fight pencilled for November 28th.
    - £30 mil payday for Mike which he’s giving to charity.
    - 8 rounds fight.
    - Mike has ditched Vegan food and is back on red meat.
    - He has stopped smoking weed and stated his anger levels are highly heightened at the moment.
    - It’s clear he’s training for a proper knock out war, not a friendly exhibition match.
    - This is somewhat linked to a project he’s part of, some kind of legends sports league in which all time greats of a sport go up against other legends from the sport in exhibition matches, but it wasn’t possible in ‘the real world’.
    - He looks ferocious in his training videos since training again, but admitted that he needed to sleep for a week after his first session back.

He looks super healthy, it must be said. This shot is from this past week.

I’ve heard a couple of rumours saying that Jones Jr is being a bit flakey and there’s concerns he might drop out. So if that was to happen, what should happen? Should they shoehorn in another opponent for Nov 28th (if so, who?) or should they delay to allow for training?

  4. Hi

We recently chatted with the wonderful Georgia Smith on the show about her Dad’s career (the British Bulldog) along with her quest to unearth his old attires & merch.
We’re also pleased to announce that her mum, Diana Hart will be joining us in the next week.

Along with the above, other recent episode/pod additions include our coverage of San Diego Comic Con, our review of GCW Homecoming and a whole host of others are now available.

Having not bought a wrestling figure since I walked into Woolworths to pick up The Bushwhackers (no, me neither), circa 1988, I’ve always felt a bit overwhelmed by the massive amount of series, editions, styles etc since things moved on from the Mattel days.

Do people really collect all the figures from all the different series? That’s not a sniffy question, I was just curious as it would seem to me that if you didn’t, your Stone Cold figure will look completely different to your Chris Jericho figure as they’re from a completely different releases.

I kind of liked it when it was simple and all the figures were clearly of the same parish.

Na, well, some probs try to collect everything but it’s pointless. Mattel make limited runs of quite a few of them. Most are harder to pick up that the final green card hasbro series.
The U.K. gets terrible distribution so hardly any of those announced will make it over here, and the ones that do are usually scalped by people who know exactly which shops are getting certain figs in, then sell them online for triple the price. Likewise, most U.K. online stores are sold out within a day, due to scalpers buying 20 at a time to sell on eBay for triple the price.
A lot of collectors have have specific collections, some will only collect legend style figures of characters from the 90’s, some will only collect the MOTU style figures etc.
I picked up a few of the retro figures that came out as they based on the old 90’s Hasbro line, but it was impossible to collect them as we only got a 1/4 over here, of what was released in the states. Even now, less than a year later, some of those are fetching anywhere between £50-£250 each, absolute fucking insanity.

The toy manufacturers purposely dictate which figures they wish to make rare, by making chase figures, and limited edition, or store exclusives. Piss take for collectors but the market is clearly there.

  6. This could either go in here on in the wrestling figure thread, but went with this one. Feel free to move if you want mods.

A new U.K. based toy company called Chella Toys are bringing out their first action figure and it’s of NWA champ Nick Aldis.

They have opened pre-orders are seem to be going well, especially considering there hasn’t been a single piece of concept art released yet. People are pre-ordering without knowing what the product is (including me), however, there’s strong indication it’s using the same style mold and scale as the 90’s WWF Hasbro figure line. This will likely be confirmed soon, but it’s fair to say it’s pretty much bang on.

As mentioned above, it’s the first of their line and by the sounds of things, the plan is to develop a possible series, rather than a one off.

Having the NWA Champion is a pretty good coup and bodes well for a NWA action figure line. Great figure style to go with and if it all goes well with this first figure, I hope we see some NWA action figure adverts. It would have made more logical sense to use Remco/Sungold style figures I suppose, but Hasbro style is far more marketable.

They are limited to 1/2000 and aren’t cheap at £17 each, but given the fact they are a start up company, based in the U.K. and that other wrestling figures are expensive as fuck these days, it’s not bad at all really (depending on what is actually released of course).

But yeah, figures crossed, NWA action figures in the Hasbro style mold. Get the fuck in.

It's the same as everything else now I'd imagine. Companies are trying to preempt any racism scandals by distancing themselves from dodgy content BEFORE people complain about it.

The entire careers of Kamala, Saba Simba, Akeem, Head Shrinkers, any foreigner & Virgil will now portrayed by the letter X.

If avoiding potential racism is the reason for them X’ing Hassan, then they are going to have to edit the fuck out of the 80’s & 90’s on the Network. The should trademark the letter X the amount it’ll feature on their programming.

I'm still pretty sure he cheated. I forgot how much I hated Walter until I watched that video...

I think he defo cheated and the intro to the video just sounds like a cover up to a bung. “New eye witness testimonies”... fuck off, ha.  Basically, the arcades are closed due to lockdown, no money coming in, Billy big bollocks has a word with the powers that be, hands over a cup of 2 pence pieces and all of a sudden he’s got his high score on Columns back.

I wouldn’t put it past him to have been the mastermind behind revoking his high scores in the first place, and then have them reinstated, just to create controversy and buzz. He can now make his illustrious come back, until the scores get re-revoked.

I don't care about all that, but please don't turn this thread into your advertising thread for your game.

Yeah no probs Chest, just wanted to make put it out there as a game in production. I’ll leave it at that though mate.

Might be worth keeping an eye on who's featured on the promo images though, with all these allegations going on.

Yeah we’re keeping an eye on things and a statement has gone up on the FB page. Hopefully it goes without saying but all allegations are being taken seriously and the games content will be edited accordingly. Editing has already started in some instances.

  11. INDIE WRESTLER - The Game

I’m assisting with the development of an upcoming, mobile phone based, wrestling sim game. The game, ‘INDIE WRESTLER’ is a career sim, influenced by the likes of TEW and Championship Manager, but from the perspective of a wrestler, fresh out of wrestling school, looking to get booked by local promotions, building up skill XP, a reputation, a fan base, pay days and opportunities to wrestle for established promotions around the world.

The game includes real wrestling promotions and over 200 independent wrestlers from around the world so far, and that’s just in wave 1 of the game. The player will be able to negotiate bookings/contracts with promotions, making sure to keep an eye on how lucrative they are, and expenditure on travel costs. Costumes will be customisable, and new attires can be purchased with the money you make from wrestling. You have to keep a healthy balance between your relationship with fans, other wrestlers and promoters. It’s possible to upset the balance based on match performance, interaction, negotiations and show cancellations. If you have positive relationships it opens up the opportunity to wrestle for titles and to wrestle for new territories.
As this is a strategy simulator game, the matches aren’t typical on ring wrestling matches, they are text based simulations that are determined based on skill tasks in a match. For example, a standard match may contain 3 different skill challenges, such as tapping the screen with speed, or using precision & accuracy to tap the screen at the right time (think of the accuracy/power bar when taking a penalty in a football game). You will receive ratings based on your overall execution in a match, which will lead to the amount of XP you can receive.

There really is so much to discuss about the game. We’ve tried to cover as much as possible, taking advice from wrestles, promoters, fans, developers and gamers alike.

I have popped up an audio chat in the podcast thread, but we will be starting some vlogs in the near future. Don’t hesitate to ask questions.

Oh and the core game will be a free app to download on mobile devices. You can complete/progress in the game without paying for additional DLC, but we will be offering specific DLC at a cost to help with the general costs and future game patches we have planned. DLC will include attire/XP packs amongst other things.

  12. Couple of fun updates I thought I’d share.

Duke the Dumpster Droese popped into for a chat about pretty much everything. We were the first pod he he joined as a guest so it was great to get him back on. We covered some fun ground this time around, including tours, plans for his behind the scenes filming ‘The Trash Cam’, Wrestling drunk against King Kong Bundy, the headache of Slammy Awards and a lot more.

I recently started assisting with the development of a new wrestling game coming out in the next few months, the game ‘Indie Wrestler’ is a mobile phone based career simulator. You start as a wrestler looking to get bookings following your training and from there, establish you name & craft globally. The lead developer Rehan joined us to chat in-depth about the game, how it works and what to expect.

I was about to ask what the fuck is wrong with some people, and then I remembered the thread I’m posting in. I have no idea what on Earth that was all about.

In short, It goes without saying but I truly hope all/as many victims as possible, have the opportunity for their accusations to be dealt with lawfully and legally.
I also hope they get professional psychological help, advice and guidance. As you’d expect there’s some dank fucking podcasters jumping all over this, “if you need to talk about what’s happened, get in touch, we’re here for you”. Get fucked, cunts.

  14. I re-subscribed to the network for the recent NXT after leaving it for a while. I’ll be staying up for this. It’ll be the first PPV I’ll have watched live since Rumble, and the first Raw/SD based show I’ll have watched since Mania. I have no idea of the general storylines heading in to this, so I’m hoping it’ll be fun for the random factor alone.

  15. Here’s a couple of the most recent episodes & interviews on BBGWrestling.com

Huge thanks to those who listened to our shows in May. We broke our previous record for downloads in a month, as May reached 15.5k. Cheers 👍

We had a good chat with Fred Ottman, quite a long one at that. When interviewing folks, we do try our best to cover ground that doesn’t normally get the focus it deserves in other interviews. Fred picked up on this fact with compliments, which is always nice to hear. We cover pretty much everything in this one, Steel/Tugboat/Typhoon/WCW/comic books/Tenta/action figures and all in between.

We welcomed back our mates from Retrosoft studios to discuss all of the brilliant updates to the official WrestleFest sequel, Retro Mania. Loads covered, from new character additions, recently purchased IP and DLC plans ahead.

Finally (not really as there’s shed loads of other episodes on the site) we’ve uploaded our wonderful chat with illustrious author, Keith Elliot Greenberg. A highly fascinating discussion about his books, the wrestlers in questions and about his works and writing in general.

    Cheers for listening.
