Fucking hell fire what was that? I felt awful for everyone in that, the performers must know it's complete gash surely. State of it, Alexa Bliss looks absolutely terrible. Shocked Vince with his references didn't get doll her up as Julie Newmar.

That was really really bad, the weird music made me laugh though, longer the note the more dread.

Jim's false advertising really helped shift the copies in the barren days when porn was illegal. The women from Sinderella I and II's covers weren't even in it, let alone getting anything out, and nobody's managing a wank over these. I think Mike Reid's Pussy in Boots had actual bare knockers in it though.

I remember after sending you that Mike Reid panto I thought 'Christ, it wasn't really that bad', but that was a comparison to having seen Davidson's first two pantos and that Mike Reid's panto is a half-panto where he just keeps doing his stand-up act for a lot of it, instead of Jim and his omnipresent giant dildo prop.

World War 3 matches are amazing for hearing guys' names announced and getting a mixture of "he still works there?", and "who even is that?"

Some of these just roll off memory because I'd never heard of them. The Barrio Brothers, Mike Winner, Mark Starr. Sure they were all alright and I'd probably seen them somewhere else and not registered it. Just reminds that World War III was a terribly bad and awful idea and an example that mad match ideas you'd have with wrestling figures should maybe not be attempted. WCW has so many of the go to 'point and laugh' moments, World War III doesn't really mentioned a really really daft idea. Who was behind it. Surely Bischoff or, who the hell was Eric's Pat Patterson's backstage? Sullivan and Taylor were there at the time. One of them maybe. The satanist or the racist.

It's something I feel guilty about not knowing enough about. Does anyone have any books or documentaries they can recommend on this? I have Making Sense of the Troubles to read but don't know if it's a good primer.

I can't find all the videos for this series, but a lot are on there and maybe Dailymotion or somewhere has the rest.

  5. Chip Minton, he was another olympic athlete who accomplished less than Chad Brock did. Think he was in one of the WW3 matches and literally nothing else I can remember.

Had to look up a Barry Houston match thinking it must have been a renamed Sam Houston, nope different dude. The hell was he? He stuff looks pretty solid.

The Dark Order segment this week was really bad imo, time to tone it down.

I'm trying to figure out what was worse about it. They've been way more OTT in the last few months, it wasn't as funny, but it seemed like it was building to some sleepover skit that could be really great once they figure out where they go with the skits. I guess the tease of knowing Brodie was going to one day march in with some papers and spoil their fun was always going to be a thing but now they have to figure out where the skits purpose are now.

It's a million times better than The Young Bucks trying to not look like either utter dicks or the mates of the bigger cunts in school and failing badly at it. I knew so little about the Bucks before AEW and I'd met and worked with them and they seemed alright, but christ they are woeful in their skits, and have been for about a year. Gallows also seems incapable to being funny when he's not Sex Ferguson either. He and Anderson felt like people I'd loathe to be trapped at a party with, if that was the intention, it was a success for me.

Kris Statlander randomly abducting people can carry on for as long they wish too, it's so throwaway and odd I quite enjoy it.

I like Luchasaurus, I think he's great fun to watch and his look is such a good action figure when it comes out, but god he reminds me of 'that guy' sometimes in his social interactions on BTE and elsewhere. Nothing offensive or he said something controversial, just the vibe off him. I dunno.

  7. I recall him doing a match with Ultimo Dragon that I'm certain had some PPV set but no idea why they'd book that on a PPV at the time.

The end of his run was him just doing jobs, right near the end he was doing jobs to the beta version of Spanky & London on Velocity with enhancement partners like they'd do some poor shit like Ronnie Garvin or Hercules when they couldn't be arsed but needed a solid hand. Creative definitely could have had something for Kanyon. Nonsense that release really. Once DDP was gone though did he have any mates around the place sticking up for him on Smackdown?

  8. The Kanyon/Boy George thing is absolutely something done to rib a gay bloke in a big absolutely not gay at all wrestling business. It just smacks of it and very something you'd get in early 2003. Look how a gay wedding and lesbians were portrayed a season prior in the autumn. It achieved nothing and was way too on the nose.

I think Kanyon was an unfortunate mix in a guy who absolutely loved, LOVED wrestling but would have been way happier and mentally balanced and maybe able to deal with what was really a big complex issue for his life has he not been in a locker room with some of the lot walking around backstage in 2003 WWE. Shame he was so talented to be honest. I don't think he'd have actually been happier out of wrestling though. He was too good to be told not and seemed so dedicated to it. He'd have probably been alive had he'd got into it a lot later maybe. I dunno I've just always felt terrible about how it ended up for Kanyon.

EDIT: Didn't see Pat who wrote it better and more clearly. Read that bit.

As a non-sports fan who listens to this, you don't necessarily need to be a sports fan but it really does help as half the time I have no idea who or what they're talking about. Especially when they go off on one about Welsh rugby in the 80s. Luckily theres enough Nazi chat and talk of Bubbs' cock and balls to keep me listening.

A brilliant podcast for the anecdotes. Even got the patreon.

I like how people see gymnast Kacy perform a gymnastic-looking move… and then assume her boyfriend’s taught her it.

Yeah, there is a fair chance he probably helped with her learning to land a move and not break her wrists, being an experienced professionally trained wrestler and her, a gymnast learning to bump and land a wrestling move and land on another person.

But I get what you were trying.

As a human being? Chris Jericho is undoubtedly a stupid MAGA knobhead. But as a performer? I still rate him and think he’s got a lot to offer.

Fuck me though. That Lionsault. Either get in shape or remove it from your move set, tubby.

It was weird but I think he had a step less to set up as he didn't run at all and seemed to just chance it. Made it, but fucking hell Jericho know your place a bit. That match was actually dead good, Hagar is what he is, but that boot, the angle and Jericho taking a fast tree bump were wonderfully timed.

I know Luther is absolutely bloody awful but even I got a kick out of him and Serpentico as panto comic baddies for -1. Luther straight face cutting a promo about a kid calling him stupid and ruining his birthday was quite amusing. For absurdist humour everyone in the Dark Order orbit seems to get a fun shine.

  12. I want Orange Cassidy laissez faire style slowly popping out of a cake. I like where that angle is going now. The fact that it's obvious the wedding will be absolutely ruined by OC and Taylor as the obvious inside man because the heels are so goofy and full of their own shit they don't see it coming is fun to me. Miro to win the feud over Cassidy at Revolution I call it, Miro then goes off to do a bigger angle.

  13. I do love the enhancement crew with gimmicks or unique looks. Nick Comorato has a great look. Like a WWE All Stars render of Hercules Hernandez. Taz thinks he looks like a caveman.

I'm happy to have Alex Gracia on every week so long as I get her sweet Franz Ferdinand rip theme.

I stumbled upon this earlier in the week, and I'm absolutely astounded that it even happened:

I saw it when it went out, and being a relatively new fan at the time I had no idea who Kanyon was and I'm not sure I even knew who Boy George was. Did they know Kanyon was gay or was this just a coincidence? Whatever the case, given that they just weren't using him at the time, it strikes me as nothing more than typical WWE bullying.

It's pretty obvious they knew and they booked it because they knew Kanyon would absolutely do it, being the team player he was, how he probably loved wrestling a bit too much, was in an awkward career point where he'd been injured and missed a year of TV and WWE used to be a right bag of laughs when it came to gay culture on screen didn't they? Yikes.

What's your thoughts on Brian Pillman Jnr? Do you think they are going to go down the same route as his dad eventually with him snapping and going mad?

He's alright, but still finding his way.

I'm sure he'll do well and as long as he's not an arsehole he'll be fine. I have to say that while he's not done anything to really make him a favourite, I do smile when he hits that Air Pillman clothesline absolutely spot on like his old man. Moves like him too.

A Loose Cannon rehash. No, but if Bri Jr, went down that route it might be more as douchy cocky wanker, enough people have failed trying to do Brian Pillman.
