  1. Just noticed that Halloween Kills will be available on Peacock in the US from Friday.  We can't get Peacock over here in the UK yet, but at least you know it'll be easily available in the usual places on the day of release.

The Terminator premiered on Moviedrome and was uncut and I know because I watched it with my dad. BBC2 usually showed films uncut like Channel 4 and only edited them if they were on during the day and had swearing in them.

ITV cut films regardless of when they showed them, case in point was RoboCop. But they got so many complaints about what they did to it that they showed it uncut a couple of months later. It was the incident that led to them and BBC1 showing films uncut in age appropriate slots.

The continuity announcer said the movie had been edited for TV.   Here's the intro from the premiere that night.

The 80s and early 90s were such a crazy time to grow up watching films for the first time. Horrendous hack jobs on films with huge chunks removed so they could be shown pre watershed. The classic examples being Romancing The Stone which was on ITV at 8 and cut to shreds with the classic ITV dubbing over all the swearing and then bang on 9 they just left it all uncut, as if anyone young watching just went to bed, and Robocop, which was edited to be shown on a Saturday afternoon to promote the TV series. Even the post watershed version never had the scene where the gang member crashed into the toxic waste. It blew my mind seeing that for the first time (after only seeing the still on the back of the VHS cover)

The BBC and ITV used to edit movies that were even on after the 9pm watershed.  Remember around 1990 when The Terminator premiered on BBC Two, it was cut to shreds.

Most of the time I think ITV only left the movies uncut if they went out after the ten o'clock news.

Channel 4 were the only terrestrial channel that aired movies uncut back then.

This is such nonsense. I can understand, though I disagree, with all the chat about which brand is best. But suggesting Heinz put different beans in the pots than what they do the tins is fucking ridiculous.

Why would that even make sense for them as a company?

It's does sound odd considering they're the same beans, but they're shit in the pots. Maybe the beans don't store well in the plastic.

On a similar note, I used to hear many arguments about how their sauces used to taste better in the glass bottles.

I think we can all agree that Lucozade certainly tasted better in the glass bottle.

Rise of the Footsoldiers: Origins (2021)

The story of Tony Tucker, who on returning from the Falklands goes on to become a major player in the Essex underworld. It’s not winning any awards but if you like geezers, violence, drugs and lots of bad language you’ll like this. The 50-year old Terry Stone playing 20-something Tony Tucker is a sight for sure!

I forgot that this was released this week.  I'm surprised it took so long for Vinnie Jones to join the cast in the Footsoldier films

  6. They've just announced the 2022 Rumble will take place on a Saturday night  29th January. It'll be at The Dome in St Louis with a 66,000 capacity.

They're really trying to make the money back after the pandemic with all of these stadium and larger venue PPVs.  Even the MITB PPV

Excuse for what? Why on earth would anybody need to defend their habit watching?

You get tired of people constantly moaning about the product while saying they only still watch out of habit.  I'd say some people should break the habit.

Puzzles me how some people can watch a show week in week out that they can't be arsed with.

Surely it's only the kids that are entertained by WWE these days, and yet Meltzer still claims that WWE's main TV audience are over 50.

I’m not sure the BBC are the right people to be telling the Jimmy Saville story.

When this was first announced a few months back I was surprised to hear that it was for the BBC. Dramas like this usually have ITV written all over them.

Still, Coogan is an interesting casting choice.
