  1. Another tip if you fancy "flying indirect" ... land in Tampa (TPA) ... a quieter airport than Orlando International (MCO) & I think Sanford (SFB) has stopped taking trans-atlantic flights for a while. Dunno why.  BUT Tampa is piss-easy to get through (last year we landed & got through immigration in 20 mins, as opposed to 90 mins in MCO), & the car hire desks are literally outside baggage claim. :)  Get on the I4 eastbound to Orlando for an hour to get to your destination.

I used to go to Florida 3 times a year ... I know it VERY well ...

  2. Get the FastPass (or equivalent) package for the rides ... really worth it! :)  If you're planning on going off-site, be sure you know where you want to go & research the easiest route if you're taking a taxi; not saying you may get ripped off, but first-timers anywhere in the USA can be vulnerable to unscrupulous taxi drivers.  Better still, rent a good sized car & get yourself there; driving really is a piece of piss.

  3. Unisex lavs are now being installed in new-build secondary schools as a matter of course.  And in one school I know of, they're "open plan", meaning that the stalls are directly accessed from the "bathroom alcove" fully viewable to the corridor, & the passing footfall.  There are no urinals.

  4. The Honch-hole.

    Rancho Honcho

Although I did like Sergio's nickname "Honcho Guentchev".

    Rancho Honcho

    Honcho Notorious.

    Love 'em all ... BUT ... there's a set of "things" done already, & it's in stone ... for a bit ...

  5.

Queer is an acceptable word to use now too. It's been 'reclaimed'

The God of Gay proclaimed this from rainbow Mountain? i must have missed it.

Q on the end of LGBT is nowhere near as widespread as you seem to think it is. I'm sure some gay people use it/don't mind it. But saying its officially okay to use now is hilariously false. referring to a gay person as "Queer" in any part of the UK in 2017 would turn heads, and in the workplace you would be right to get bollocked.

It is a general consensus now. It's even an academic term - there are now uni courses in "Queer Studies". It's not just been reclaimed, it's been converted to mean "non-conventional sexuality", as a general recognition of the concept that sexuality is fluid, and not categorisable in blocks.

EDIT: Actually, just remembered, it goes even further than sexuality. The term "queer" has come to mean "non-convention" with regard to almost everything that has any kind of established convention.

Appears it's legit.  Gay isn't equated to queer ... fair play. :)

  6. I think you need a cooler name than The Bunker. We should have a poll thread for it.

It was going to be named after the bloke who helped me get it all sorted, but the <name of chap> Suite sounds a little tame.

It's named now, & will remain that way.  Call me unimaginative, but ...

  7. I worked for a High Street bank and during the World Cup, each team were assigned a competitor in the tournament and decorate their team area accordingly.  It was casual racism central and they couldn't see what was wrong with Mexico all wearing sombreros and fake moustaches, or Germany with towels securing pool side loungers.

I wished to fuck I got North Korea.

I hope to God no-one blacked up to represent Cameroon.

  8. Yeah the Aussies have said that it was a productive call, whilst Trumps straight on twitter to bash them about it.

He also held a call with the Mexican President (I think he's held calls with several leaders recently), and advised that if they don't crack down on drug cartels he'll be sending troops to sort them out.

I read that too; there's a transcript of it in the ether apparently.  FOX News are the ones pushing that story to high heaven.  I'm yet to stumble across the transcript, & I've been Googling for about 90 mins ...

  9. That looks a pretty damn cool shed to be fair Honcho.

Cheers; 12' wide, 16' long, 8' at the peak of the pitch.  Double skinned walls, with insulation in the cavities, underfloor insulation & carpet-tiled.  Some sound proofing too.  CCTV all over it.  Connected to the main house via a big electrical cable & it's own consumer unit.  Also has 100Mb ethernet LAN inside, plus a 500Mb link back to the main router in the house, plus a separate WiFi link.

Built & established as a bit of a 'mates pub/hangout' in 2014.  Plus I can record vocals, instruments, etc. uncompressed & then master as well.

I have lots of pics of the other 7" singles on display, plus the varying t-shirts & merch/memorabilia, but that'll do for now. :)  Here's the video of the newly installed neon atmospherics ...

  10. It was to do with an agreement made by Obama over refugees from Australian territories , which coincide with the travel ban (to my understanding). Trump called the agreement "dumb" and hung up on him.

The Australian PR office are denying that's the case.

  11. What other cool shit have you got in your man-shed?

My study is just full of records, books and musical instruments. And my pc is in there. Also, all the art I own that my wife doesn't like goes on that walls in there.

Rock & metal, festival t-shirts, band gear/memorabilia (inc. signed gigged instruments), posters, a few dozen 7" singles pinned up, my practice drum kit, bass guitar, couple of computers, TV, my gun, dart board stand, stacks of books on shelves (so many so that I've had to get another book case), a box of extra special memorabilia & keepsakes, bar stuff, halogen heater, tools ...

    Practice kit

I've since added an Iron Cobra 200 double bass pedal

One of the many t-shirts with newly added neon atmospheric neons (which are all around the place, & look cool in the dark)

The Queen picture covers aren't hugely rare, but hard to find ...

    More 7" singles on display

The KISS one comes with the "Demon" mask ... quite a rare find

How do I post a video - can Photobucket take videos even?!

  12. Political correctness, in my estimation, has made us all question the way we speak & write ... it's pervasive in the way it makes us self-censor.  Old folks, & some middle-aged people, can't get used to it & I think that there's a type of conditioning going on.

Who was it that said "political correctness is the ultimate tool to silence the weak-willed in society", or something like that?

We all have to have the courage of ones convictions, at the end of the day.  If people get offended by the tamest of things, surely that's their problem?  An individual's views should not be decried.  You can be in a minority of one, but the truth will remain the truth, & someones opinions will always be true to that individual.

  13. To charge a returnable deposit for the "house darts" is fine, to charge to play on the board is just shitarse behaviour.

Every man-cave should have one of these:

Bought from a professional darts promotions company.  It's since had the Blade4 board upgraded to the Blade5 ... :)

  14.

Unless I've had too much Henry Weston's in the evening, then I can pretty much guarantee a plop at 2am, which wakes my system right up & I'm awake until about 4:30am ... a middle of the night intermediary drop is a nuisance.

Try drinking something which isn't so shit, that might help.

Wine doesn't do the same. Strongbow disagrees with my system, as it has synthetic sweeteners in it.  I find that Aspall's or Weston's are suitable for my guts.  Too much Weston's can be described as 8 - 10 bottles, instead of the 4 - 6 one might normally imbibe.

  15. Five poos in a day? Is that normal? I have a regular clearout around 11pm every day that gets the job done.

Depends what you've eaten I guess.  One in the morning is a definite, & it's an "every other day" evening plop.  Unless I've had too much Henry Weston's in the evening, then I can pretty much guarantee a plop at 2am, which wakes my system right up & I'm awake until about 4:30am ... a middle of the night intermediary drop is a nuisance.

  16.

Just as a side note here ... I heard an "expert" on US constitutional matters on the radio this morning ... and I quote: US Congress are the real power, & they can counter any EOs that the president has signed into existence.

I think that Congress is not sitting at the moment, & no-one has recalled them to sit in light of the comings and goings of the administration staff in the White House.  So ... when Congress is back, & the reality of these EOs hits them properly, they could just rescind the ones they don't like.

Unless Uncle Donald goes full despot.

Congress can't rescind an executive order. That's literally the point of an executive order.

The only way Congress can overturn an executive order is to pass a law that (so to speak) trumps the order, but Trump can veto any law unless it has a 2/3 majority in both houses. It's also possible to challenge an executive order in the Supreme Court.

That's not how it was explained on t'radio but I can see that being the way it's done.  Ta for the clarification.
