For me, his run from late 2016 until now has featured some of my all time favourite things in wrestling. The list, Festival of Friendship, showing up in New Japan (that sensational press conference turned brawl with Kenny!) and pretty much his entire AEW stuff to date... it's all been great. What stands out to me is that he's not just going out and having good matches but he's got all the bases covered with the matches, promos and angles... even commentary! and just when you start to think he's getting a bit boring, he does something like that perfect Lionsault & shit-eating grin moment on Dynamite the other week that reminds you what a star he can be.
Admittedly, I'm a self confessed Jericho mark so I'm more than a bit biased but I'm loving the guy right now.

What match was that? I'm presuming some kind of multi-man spotfest?
Lard was pretty shit all things considered. Typical PC trainee, lacking any edge or substance or anything memorable at all. A generic big man that wasn't particularly big.
6-Man Ladder Match for the North American Championship. The full match is actually on WWE's YouTube; https://youtu.be/4HMtd3TpwHU

Heāll be best remembered as the answer to the trivia question; āWho is shittest WWE wrestler to have a Dave Meltzer ***** rated match to his name?ā.

I still dabble in Fire Pro related efeds from time to time. Iām far too introverted to ācut promosā or role play and honestly I find it all to be a bit cringe.
However, I still get a kick out of getting one of my created wrestlers ābookedā on a card and having a laugh on Twitch watching them fight it out.
Im 34 so should probably grow out of it but I suspect itāll be a guilty pleasure for a while longer.

Best pro wrestler - Kenny Omega, Hangman Page, Kota Ibushi
Best women's wrestler - Thunder Rosa, Britt Baker, Hikaru Shida (I only watch AEW and New Japan, otherwise I'd probably be voting for three different women entirely)

Best wrestling event - AEW Revolution, Dynamite; Winter is Coming, Dynamite; Brodie Lee Tribute Show
Best wrestling show - AEW Dynamite
Best feud or angle - Brodie Lee/Cody, Proud & Powerful/Best Friends, MJF/Cody
Moment of the Year - Brodie Lee wins the TNT title, Cody receives 10 lashes from MJF, Sting arrives in AEW/returns to TNT
Best babyface - Cody, Orange Cassidy, Jungle Boy
Best heel - Brodie Lee, Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho
Funniest moment of the year - Sue flips off Santana & Ortiz, Sammy Guevara gets run over, Sammy flees the golfcart during Stadium Stampede
Best tag team - The Young Bucks, FTR, Best Friends

Easy. Current day Roman Reigns and 2000 Torrie Wilson. No āforcedā about it either.

The Dudleyz as Team 3D had a cracker against the Motorcity Machineguns at... Turning Point 2007, I think?

I just saw some wrestlers posting pictures of Brodie on Twitter without context. At first I thought perhaps heās making a big return ... then as I scrolled past more and more images from more and more people I started to get a sickly, sinking feeling in my stomach.
Absolutely gutted. As a fan I feel like Iām missing out on an immense talent. As a man Iām just utterly shocked and saddened for his family. He really will be missed.

Jungle Boy. Iām not even sure it would be possible to turn him heel.

Ah, thatāll do it.

About fucking time they pushed Moose to the moon. I know he's not everyone's cup of tea but he's been great since turning heel.
The bloke used to be a regular in the NFL, its madness that a company of Impact's size isn't milking that for all the mainstream press they can garner. Thankfully it seems that the direction of travel is heading that way.
People say that Impact don't have a proper main eventer, but they have one right under their noses if pushed right.
Put me down as another huge Moose mark! His look and charisma are so great that they carry him past the fact that his matches are generally bang average from a work rate perspective.
When I first saw him in Impact I was honestly surprised no one else had picked him up before then. Not only is he a proven athlete but he dresses like a star, carries himself like one and looks like he could kick your arse. What more could you want in a pro wrestler?

My main issue with Excaliber is that he keeps mistaking the Double Underhook Piledriver for a Tiger Driver '98, though I suppose for most that's a relatively minor gripe.

Brilliant show, loved every second of it!
Sting coming in feels incredible. My immediate thoughts were that he might not be up for wrestling or that if he is the match won't live up to expectations. Then I remembered he had a MotY candidate IMO with a mostly crippled Hogan in 2011... so a match with an AEW guy (Jericho, Cody??) should be just fine.
The ending of the show may not have been quite pitch perfect but it was a genuine surprise and the thought of a heel Omega paired with Callis as the mouthpiece fills me with glee.
Fuck, AEW is great!

Yeah, Dark should be the AEW post show on the Thursday. I find myself not watching on the Tuesday due to fear of burnout but then most of the time end up forgetting about it until the following week. Posting it on the Thursday would make its near 3-hour run time feel much less intimidating.

Iām not sure how I feel about Yukes developing this. They have a shit load of experience which bodes well for the overall quality of the game but then againĀ I was bored of the Yukes formula well over a decade ago.
If this is the same old Yukes I might just give it a pass despite being a massive AEW fan. Hereās hoping they start thinking out of the box on this one.
-
They need to have Kenny/Penta go on first, with Kenny winning. Then have Kenny at ringside for Hangman/Wardlow. Hangman is subtly distracted by Kenny throughout and the match ends up a time limit draw. Hangman and Wardlow are both out without eating a loss and Kenny gets to celebrate his ācheapā tournament victory like heās just won the title in the main event of Wrestlemania.

I think most guys in AEW are booking themselves in the loose sense of they are actively encouraged to come up with their own ideas and if those ideas are deemed good enough then they're allowed to run with it.
-
Jesus Christ, Jericho must really hate clowns.
-
Poor Andrade, that guy should be a superstar.
-
The working relationship between NJPW and AEW doesn't need to be shoved down our throats every week though.Ā It could be as simple as the occasional talent exchange, allowing guys to take time away from AEW TV when it suits storyline-wise by spending 3 months in NJPW or something. It would also allow New Japan guys to come over for short stints, keeping AEWs roster feeling fresh and putting guys over before they leave.
Then there's always the possibility of a once a year super show or something, just for the hell of it.

I've just watched that Heath video and instantly regret not watching it sooner. Brilliant.

I'm the same. I can still watch Benoit, Ospreay and pretty much any other performer without much moral angst. It shows how desensitised I've become over the decades. Maybe I just seperate person from performance much easier than some. I don't see him winning it.. Okada going all the way v Evil in the final.Ā
Of course Ospreay's a wanker but I'm not quite sure comparing him to Benoit is being in any way fair to him.
