  1. TNA PPV's used to have Jeremy Borash announce the competitors for the World Title match inring(after enterances) like in boxing. I missed several PPV's, then saw Bound For Glory and Genesis which had a 6-man tag, and a 'quicky' title match with no proper entrances. Do TNA still do this? It was a great build up. I noticed Penzer was announcing on Against All Odds last night, he was good, although if they skipped this practice for the main event I'll be pissed(I was too tired to watch). Cheers!

The AAO main event was announced that way, by Borash. I know they've been looking for another ring announcer to allow Borash to take Shane Douglas' backstage interviewer, which he did for most of the ppv, with Penzer doing the announcing. However, Penzer was nowhere to be seen around ringside throughout the whole event, as far as I could tell. He certainly never set foot in the ring, and, when Konnan was handed a mic in-ring, it was by one of the ring girls. What with Borash doing the main event, my question is this - was Penzer actually in attendance at the ppv, or were his announcements pre-tapes?
  2. June 15, 1998 - RAW:Steve Austin & Undertaker vs. Mankind & Kane went to a No Contest..

    >snippity<The tag match is featured as an extra on 'Best of Raw volume 1'
You sure? I've owned the "Best of RAW" 2-disc set for quite some time, but I've never seen this match. Whereabouts can I find it?
It's an extra on disc one, entitled "Where's the Undertaker?"
  3. I taped an episode yesterday and it had a big six-man. Off hand I think it was AMW/Jarrett vs Hoyt/Hardy and somebody else I can't quite remember. How far back is this episode to what is currently airing in the States. Thanks again for all your help.

That show was aired November 12th, the night before the Genesis PPV (which actually aired on TWC last Sunday.)
  4. Was just wondering how long TNA have been going for now?And when is the first airing of a new TNA Impact!! on TWC.Thank you brahs.

3 1/2 years, give or take. The debut show was in the summer of 2002.At the moment, Impact's first run is Saturdays at 9pm. Don't know if that will change when the jump forward in time happens.
  5. - Was there an incident in which a wrestling promotor had given a newspaper reporter the results of a show, only for them to be printed early? If so, who am I thinking of and what was the event?

You may be thinking of the rumours that WWF were planning to put the belt on Luger at Summerslam '93 (IIRC), but changed the finish to a count-out on the day of the show after Vince found out Lex had told a reporter he was getting the belt.
  6. It was actually a spontaneous crowd reaction much earlier. There was an episode of SmackDown! just after the release of The Music: Volume 5 where Kurt Angle came to the ring and made the crowd listen to the full version of his music from the CD.On the second play through the crowd just started chanting in time with the music. It didn't really catch on though until a few months later - possibly with the intorduction of a t-shirt.

I may be wrong about this, but I seem to recall that at the time Angle was feuding with The Rock, who of course had that awful 'Pie' or whatever the fuck it was called song on that album. The whole point of the segment was basically to promote the CD, so they played a segment of 'Pie', then Angle complained it was shit (he was right) and made the guys in the back play a REAL song - his entrance music. I seem to recall Rocky coming out during the segment and at least encouraging, if not creating, the use of "You Suck" as lyrics to Angle's music.

Anybody want to remind me what "The Throwback" was?  Obsessed With Wrestling have it listed as a 'Running Neck Snap.' Basically, it was like Curt Hennig's step-over neckbreaker.

With the obvious difference that Hennig's maneuver was performed with the victim seated on the mat, while Cena did it with the opponent standing, bent over.
  7. Can someone please explain the facts behind this U.S magazine apparently breaking a story about Stacy Kiebler getting it on with Jennifer Anniston's boyfriend ?

I don't know exact details, but it's the other way round. This mag are claiming Aniston is dating some guy she's been working with on a movie, but he's in fact with Stacy. I don't think the mag actually mentioned Stacy at all, it was just a "Jen is dating this guy who looks a little like Brad Pitt in that he hasn't shaved for a couple of days" story. I believe wwe.com were the first to point out he's actually doing Keibler.
  8. On a similar theme - did they ever clear up the Miss Elizabeth centrefold storyline from WM8??

You may well know this, but shortly after Mania there was an 'expose' in WWF Magazine that showed that Flair had doctored the photos purporting to be of him and Liz together before she was with Savage - they were old photos of Savage & Liz with Flair's head superimposed. Flair had never been with her, so he had never actually had any centrefold photos.Don't know if that stuff ever made it to tv, though.
  9. This has confused me, i have went through the tape and i just can't find it, WWF fully loaded 2000 on channel 4, the spanish announce table was broken, was it broken on sunday night heat before the ppv or was it broken during the ppv ?

I may be wrong, but I have a memory of Saturn clotheslining Chyna onto the table during his match with Guerrero, and her going right through it.

Does anyone know Low-ki's real name?

    Brandon Silvestry, according to obsessedwithwrestling.

  11. When was the last time someone played two different characters on TV at the same time, like the current Simon Dean/Nova situation? I don't mean if it was part of their gimmick, like Foley. But where WWE havn't actually acknowledged they are the same person.

Probably Steve Lombardi. He was doing Abe "Knuckleball" Schwartz ("on strike" in the crowd") while still appearing as the Brooklyn Brawler in the ring. I think. I'm pretty sure when he was doing the Bushwhackers kangaroo, he was also still wrestling under at least one gimmick - possibly Doink, or possibly still BB as well.
We had a bit of a discussion about this the other day in another thread, and yeah, Lombardi was the best we could come up with without it being a gimmick. He certainly did the Brawler & Kimchee at the same time.
