I had a good go at the Sleeping Dogs demo over the weekend, as LaGoosh mentioned, the context specific fighting (throwing people into fan blades, off buildings etc) is good fun, but I dunno.....when it comes to fighting a lot of people at once everything else seems clunky and awkward after Arkham City now. That game had it spot on.
Â
Speaking of Arkham City, I've been going back trying to solve all the riddles, get the trophies and finish off the side missions this weekend. My god the level of thought and pure design put into some of them is amazing. I think I have 310 / 440 now. Has anyone actually finished them?
Â
The SD combat definitely isn't as fluid as Arkham City, but it's still not to have it as the primary source of combat rather than just shooting down waves of bad guys.
Â
I finished all the riddles on Arkham, took ages as I was determined not to look them up. The final bit with the riddler is pretty cool.
You finished all the trophies without looking any up? Man that's impressive. I've had to look up two so far. Classic "I'm not going to bed until I work this out" stupidity that ends with me on YouTube at 2am thinking "how could I be so stupid"

Yeah I'm out too, I definitely thought we had it with Van Halen. Sounds too twiddly and experimental for Rhodes.

Yeah, ridiculous that we don't play again until the 2015/16 season, but like you say, well deserved South Africa. I think they've been the best team in the world for a couple of years now, and had we played them at any point during that time they probably would have beaten us.
Â
Looked like we might just have some fireworks at the end there when Prior and Swanny we hitting big, but as has been the case all series, the new ball has made all the difference.

Yeah Eruption was my first thought too.....sounded a lot like it, but not enough like it to be a spot on pull, like you say could be either a live track, an alternate take or possibly mixed with another of his solos?
-
Also, as I said, Van Damme played a really good villain, but he may have seemed more badass if he hadn't been making snow angels in the mountains advertising a light beer in the advert that preceded the trailers.
-
I did wonder, Burch, if any metal fans would be able to tell what the original sample I chopped up for the solo was. It's from one of my alltime favourite albums.

Well that's one way to get a load more listens on your SoundCloud page....I'm going to be listening to that for the next hour trying to work out what it is. Bastard.
Â
EDIT - Has to be Van Halen right?

It was still the highest grossing movie this weekend, by a distance, but yeah not a great sign that. Mine was pretty empty too.
-
Yeah I echo everything said about Expendables 2, especially Loki's assessment of Stallone as a 'bad old guy' Bronson. I thought he and Van Damme were particularly good. Nice to see Willis get a gun in his hands this time, but Arnie was pretty awful. Heard reports that Nic Cage has already signed up for the third movie, although Box Office Mojo said that the weekend figures were fairly disappointing, and unless it picks up a third movie could be a tricky sell.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Emily Blunt, Jeff Daniels and Bruce Willis in a Terminator-ish "send yourself back to the past to stop some unstoppable killer from wiping the future out" action noir thriller thing. It looks really good.
Wow, surprised I hadn't heard of this one a bit sooner. That does look really good. I'm glad Gordon-Levitt is becoming a real draw as an action star now

Great stuff Chest, love the guitar solo and as niff says, fantastic intro.

Downloading season 1 of Arrested Development now. I'm not sure how many times I can come on here to people raving about it, only to never get round to watching it.
It was the constant praise it gets on here, especially from Chest, Woy and JLM, that finally got me around to watching it. So glad I did, it really is the best.

I thought you hated it when people voted for their Self.

If Icke did go on Question Time, who would be the best person to be the Loki to his Duane so to speak? David Mitchell could be a laugh.
Â
Also, say what you want about the crazy fuckers on there, but the embed YouTube plugin in their forum software is lovely. Wish we had that, but alas, the powers that be are holding it back, to keep us docile and compliant, or something.

I actually didn't know that.....wow, don't know how that passed me by, although I do tend to avoid Brooker's columns throughout the year now so I can buy the book at the end of the year and read everything in one fell swoop. I'll definitely give it a fair chance then.

also really looking forward to this

amazing reading some posts on other places about how people think this is serious
First I've seen of this, could be quite funny.... I haven't seen many instances of a British take of Zucker Abrahams Zucker style spoof-humour, it'll likely be very hit and miss but there are some decent bits in there. 'Dat Dere Yute Club' being one of the better ones
-
I know Green Day are well known for their blatant stealing.....but they're usually slightly more subtle than that, nobody else on here or on the FB post seems to be mentioning that the riff is essentially "All Right Now" by Free though. Just me?
-
Yeah Pine Barrens as a single episode is probably my favourite, although the last few episodes of season 5 are as close to perfect TV drama as you can get.
-
I know we have some decent DJ's on here......this should make you cry. Actually it should make you cry whether you're a DJ or if you've just once ever heard a song or any piece of music in passing in your life.

Ah yes, the Brown Lady of Raynham Hall. A little backstory:
This photo was taken in 1936 at Raynham Hall in Norfolk, England, by two photographers of Country Life magazine. Raynham Hall was long reputed to be haunted by the ghost of Lady Dorothy Townshend, who died in 1726. The ghost had been seen on many occasions throughout the years when it was spotted descending these stairs by the Country Life photographers, who quickly took a snapshot. This is considered by many to be the most highly regarded and reputable photograph by a ghost yet made.

Yeah agreed. I'm going to do New Game + once I've got the riddles sorted. Can't wait to play through the story again. I'd say it's probably the best game I've played on this generation of consoles, possibly tied with Red Dead Redemption.
