  1. I thought JR's book was pretty awful. Considering the career he has had and the amount of backstage knowledge etc, it is probably the worst i have read in-terms of glossing over things with little detail/insight.

Patterson's is really more about his personal life than getting into all of the interesting wrestling stuff that only him/vince know.

Regal's book is really really good. Brets is essential reading. Gary harts is great, even id some bits are a little embellished.

The stampede book by heath mccoy was really good considering i knew very little about that territory other than the guys that emerged from it and jumped to wwf/wcw.

Bob hollys and lugers were suprisingly good from what i remember.

Anyone read the Dr D book or the Brutus book?

  2. Yeah it is still pretty knackered on PS4 for me.  Not even watching live streams, Clash of the Champions from '93 are buffering every 30 seconds or so.  I've tried deleting the app and re-downloading it without success.  I wonder if it is just pot-luck which server you happen to connect to when you make a selection?

  3. I used to train quite a bit in BJJ/Muay Thai/MMA until I had a kid/bought a house/life got in the way...
I was awarded my blue belt by Braulio Estima, but never made it to purple.

    White belt tips?
Don't be afraid to tap if you are completely trapped rather than risking injury, but give yourself chance to try and find a way out.
Use technique over power, muscling-out of situations only helps when you are rolling with smaller/weaker partners, and when you get to competition you will be against guys your own size.
Relax, the more you panic the quicker you get drained.
Find what works for you, I'm built like a daddy-longlegs, so I always preferred pulling guard and working from there rather than trying to smother from top position.
If you do get injured take time off and rest, you might feel like you are missing-out, but ultimately you are just going to slow down recovery or make things worse....heck, you could still go to class to watch/learn but just not actively roll.

  4. If you just need a change of scenery for a bit, I know jobs at Alton Towers and places like that have a boarding option, include a fair amount of walking, and there are loads of different roles for different skill sets.... a lot of them are seasonal, but the season will be starting shortly so i'm sure they will be recruiting :)

  5. Yeah I am kind of hoping that they will move over to Starrcade or something once they get up to date on WrestleMania.  Might be wishful thinking as I'm guessing there would be a bit of crossover of talent, and less nostalgia as it wasn't as easily accessible back in the day over here, but there would still be plenty of new material in there to make it entertaining.

I wonder how the next few will go. I doubt they're going to stop becoming funny any time soon but even the guys have on occasion now foreshadowed the potential quality going forward by explaining how after a certain point WrestleManias just blend together.

There's still plenty of huge moments but older wrestling generally lends itself better to comedy podcasting. Most of the big boys have gotten blander as they've strayed into the bland.

They are already beyond my era really at WrestleMania 23, so I am quite happy when they go off-track...
I almost wish they would alternate between the WrestleMania timeline and something random ongoing.
Having said that, they seem to be effortlessly hilarious regardless of what they are talking about, so I'm sure it will be fine

  7. Ahh yeah you always get that in any lively/night-life type area, but that is more to blame on the drunkards than the area generally being unsafe with gangs/crime etc i think.
Especially in recent years, it has gone through quite a transformation.

Second this. Enamel pins are really popular at the moment, I have a bunch on my jacket. I'd have two or three of those in a heartbeat as badges over the prints.

Oddly enough, there are already quite a few folks selling pins of Simpsons characters as wrestlers...
Like some mentioned earlier, it seems to be the current version of the South Park characters as wrestlers in the Attitude era.
    Saw this one yesterday:

  9. There is no way that the Rickson fights aren't fixed.  If you watch Rickson's transitions on the ground, he doesn't even have his bodyweight on Takada, and there is literally no way that Takada could buck-out of Rickson's full mount if it was 100% legit.

Apparently Takada admitted that all his fights were fake in some way in his biography, but I'm going off third-party info on that.  Enson's comments over the years certainly back it up though.

This is the first time at Telford but I dare say it'll be the same as when they run Wrexham which I've been too.

Photo Ops will start before midday however with Wrexham you could still queue up for your op, get it and then go into the convention "officially". Some guests do photos at their autograph table for a charge if you're worried about missing the photoshoot. Each time I've gone all the wrestlers were doing a photo at the table for a charge.

I would recommend though speaking to the organisers through Twitter or Facebook to double check though given this is a new venue for them.

Thanks so much matey! much appreciated :)

  11. Probably not the right place for questions, but has anyone ever been to the Wales Comic-con Telford Takeover?
I was just wondering what the situation is with paying on the door as all of the advance tickets have sold out...

It says you can buy tickets on the door after midday, but I was a bit worried that the photo-ops will have already started by then and I'd still be stuck outside?
Do the photo-ops usually start after midday-ish?

But do they though? They might have the money, but not the power to arrange contract killings inside prisons. The idea that rich, powerful people have the power to do whatever takes their fancy is a fallacious one, as it also takes criminal connections in the right places which they don't usually have. It's difficult to imagine Prince Andrew or one of his stooges sat outside a prison attempting to bribe random prison officers with a briefcase full of cash, you need to know who would be susceptible to a bribe.

    Everybody's got a price...

  13. I think I've got all of the Round The Bend's on dvd. Downloaded them years ago when the guy who created them posted them on his website.

Actually, here is the site, if you've got Flash on your computer it might still work:
    http://www.tonyhusband.co.uk/rtbvideowall.html

I think this should give you the direct link to download the files (just change the numbers for the different episodes):
    http://www.tonyhusband.co.uk/flash/rtb/series1/s1e1.flv
You'll most likely need to convert them from Flash to a more viewable format if you want to burn them etc...

  14. Does anyone have any experience with IPTV stuff at all?  I've only ever really messed around with Kodi before, but IPTV seems much more stable/reliable?
Are there any free ones that anyone could recommend?
