This is what I assumed it was. Didn’t even think of dodgy betting.

You see it from a better angle in this vid.

The betting comes more in the semi pro stuff. The losers can make more money for taking a dive, as well as not really getting beaten up.

Meant to post this video, though the on with a ref checking a kick on a downed opponent is cool.

Yeah, there was another clip from later on the same show, of a different ref doing it. Maybe it’s a common thing over there.

Most fights in Thailand are fixed, because betting on bouts is huge. There are men taking bets at ringside, in the bleachers and proper booths. There was a big thing of a lot of the dutch american guys winning fights within the first round, because that first round is used as a feeling out process and to bring in the bets. So the natives weren't expecting to have to defend properly early on. The ref dropping along with the guy getting KO'ed shows that the fighter has dropped once he was given the signal by the ref. It's also to help protect the falling fighter's head.if it's a legit KO.

Considering Jerky normally costs £1.50 in a supermarket, I don't think the price point is too bad for a premium product (£2.50 In Sainsbury’s I’ve just seen).

on that note, Kings Jerky have started some Vegan Jerky. Currently 99p in Aldi. Tomato and Basil and Black Bean sauce. The black bean ones are really nice and I’m glad I can now have some jerky again

I only really wanted a cheap bag of pork scratchings and I was paying nearly 4 quid for a bottle of a so-so IPA.

As far as the vegan jerky avoid the tomato and basil ones they taste like cardboard with a hint of basil.

  4. Basically since food threads are popular, but people start talking about pretzels in the crisp thread or Haribo in the chocolate thread. This is the thread about all snacks which don't fit into previous threads.

I went on a date last night to a wanky "cafe" AKA a really poncey pub with nothing on tap. That's not important, whats important is these were fucking delicious.

The almost 3 quid asking price was a shocker, but imagine really crispy pepperoni from a pizza in a bag. They do salami ones as well which sound nice, but I am put off by the price for a relatively small package.

Compre of course comes from the Italian language and is solely used when comparing something to a pizzeria

It's Spanish and means I bought.e.g. "Compre de pie et fritas." or I just fucked up the spelling because I was typing quickly on my phone waiting for my pie and chips.

    Ouch..

Cheaper than that in London, though no decent chippers anywhere, bahhh

This menu is from a chippy nearby, but it's an award winner and the quality is excellent. The portions are a decent size, but a medium is okay for a lunch, but you need a large one for a dinner.

I can get that up North, however rural Gloucestershire was like nearly 6 quid for battered Sausage and Chips.

Where is cheapest for fish and chips anyway

I live in the South Devon coast, so most of the touristy chippies are at least 7 quid for a medium sized portion. Because I live away from the harbour or the pier/promenade area my local is much more reasonably priced.

    Mad Max 3 Beyond Thunderdome.

Remember quite liking it it when I was younger but watching it now for the first time in what must be a good 20+ years and it's a fucking mess isn't it? Awful soundtrack as well.

Had to turn it off. Thank god for Fury Road.

There's some  good ideas in the film, but the set design seems too polished, for Barter town which runs off pig shit.

I am prepared to die on all of those hills. So do you have food rules you will not break?

Never go to a carvery with you is a new rule.

I am going to another interview today, but they seem a bit sketchy on what the actual wage is. So we'll see how it goes.

So it turned out that the job was barely above minimum wage. With a raise after a 6 month probationary period, but it seems more like an excuse to sack you off after 6 months. So it's really a seasonal job, but they are advertising it as a permanent position.

  11. I went to Hevy in 2012 and it was nice and peaceful. I also liked the fact that it was a 5 minute walk from the arena to where I was camping. So if there wasn't a band I fancied seeing I would nip back and grab a beer between sets.

Any news? I am looking for suggestions for jobs with accomadation included, home life is insufferable and really effecting me. I pay more in board than my friend pays on a mortgage for a 3 bed house

I contacted them this past Thursday since I hadn't heard from the company. They finally came back to me yesterday afternoon and I didn't get the job I applied for. They offered me an operative job, but it's less per hour than my current job and less hours per week. So I had to pass on it. I am going to another interview today, but they seem a bit sketchy on what the actual wage is. So we'll see how it goes.

I mean, it’s not quite as simple as that, but yeah it’s a fairly simple set of instructions. Please don’t sieve your beer though!

@mim731 The kit Rey has linked is £16, but overall I spent close to £100 in total for the kit, the fermenter, the bottling bucket which I used to transfer the beer into before bottling, the siphoning kit, bottles, caps and capper, and then various bits and bobs like the stirring spoon, thermometer and hydrometer. Now I’ve got all the actual equipment, all I’ll need to be buying is the ingredients and new bottles. For example, the kit I’ve currently got brewing was £25, and I’ll probably just reuse the bottles.

When I did it, I just had the bucket with no return valve on to. I had a sieve in the funnel when bottling, because the kit I used had a ton of sediment in the bottom of it. I did add a bit of extra sugar around 2 weeks in to kickstart a second round  of fermentation. I also just used washed and sterilised 2 litre coke bottles. It was a perfectly serviceable bitter by the end.
