  1. I made fajitas using Naked Glory Smokey BBQ tender strips. They tasted nice though the texture was like overcooked chicken breast, but not stringy like real chicken. Although a google image search for Naked Glory strips, doesn't bring up anything remotely like the thing I bought from the Co-op.

Can you post the video of someone getting their throat slashed please?

It's this video edited or just a still where the swing misses and smacks him in the neck.

And the fact that at one time a slave trader was celebrated in British culture is not something we should forget. Take it down by all means but don't chuck it in the river and destroy the hard proof that that's what we were so little time ago.

The statue isn't the only thing that mentions Edward Colston in Bristol. There's the aforementioned Colston Hall and the statue was on Colston Avenue. I could definitely see the statue being fished out of the river and stored somewhere..It is something that Bristol is slowly getting rid of, because Colston school and a pub called the Colston both got renamed.

Just saw someone say in regards to the statue: "Well, I guess we should destroy all books that mention slavery then!!!!"

Well no, as it's pretty easy to avoid books and it would be a conscious decision to pick one up and read it. Can't be very nice for Black people to have to walk past a statue like that every day.

    Pull them all down.

There's been a petition to rename Colston Hall, which is a big music venue for a long time. There have been artists who have refused to play the venue, most notably Massive Attack and Tricky.

You are getting more magpies in gardens feeding because there is less roadkill for them to scavenge because of lockdown. .

I wouldn't know about that now. Apart from the first 3 weeks of lockdown, I have been working throughout and I do a lot of driving. It's gone from the roads being really quiet, but the past few weeks the roads seem just as busy as any other time. Not quite up to full summer time busy, because there's not the caravans and campers clogging up the roads, but there are a lot of people out and about now.

  6. @Astro Hollywood At least use the entire sentence.

With any sort of protesting, there has been massive overreacting from both sides.

As I mentioned there has been police pepper spraying unarmed civilians sitting with their arms linked in Chicago. As well as obvious violence and looting from people, just as an excuse. Both sides have done damage and attacked people with unprovoked violence.

  7. With any sort of protesting, there has been massive overreacting from both sides. It always seems to start off the same way. There will be peaceful protests until either the police get nasty and start beating/pepper spraying people. Or people go to the protests with the intent to start violence. Quite often it is a combination of both factors that cause it to kick off.

I have seen videos from over the weekend of someone wearing a MAGA hat getting gang stomped. As well as some idiot with a compound bow shouting about how the protesters are un-American. Only for him to shoot someone in the leg and getting ganged up on just after he loosed his arrow.

So many things are getting shown to the public because of camera phones and the internet. It seems like America has gotten worse with its institutionalised violence and racism. It hasn't, it is just being shown to the general population far easier due to technology. The Rodney King beating was almost 30 years ago and that only came out because of one person with a camera on a balcony.

Now everyone can document whatever they want. Imagine if the JFK assassination happened today and how many angles we would have of it from all the people in attendance. Unfortunately there would be 2 different political groups using the same footage edited to make their point.

I've just had one of those soul-cleansing poos that leaves you feeling like you can tackle anything. I won't go into the specifics of the loggage, but does everyone have them now and again? It's a genuine gift of evolution.

I had the complete opposite of one of those this morning. It involved 45 minutes of shaking, sweating and straining for a minimal result. Only for a second, slightly less distressing round half an hour later. It was one of those experience where you need to have a lay down afterwards.

Preacher would have been a great recommendation but I’ve watched the TV show and I’m unlikely to read it for the same reason I’m unlikely to jump into The Walking Dead, I know (more or less) how it plays out removing some of the fun.

I would give Preacher a try, since the entirety of of the first season of Preacher ends with the destruction of Anneville. In the comics that literally the end of the first issue, it's a lot larger in scope and has a ton of stuff that's not used in the series.

I'd love to skate street with a bit of bowl stuff thrown in for good measure. I could never Ollie when I was a skinny, fit teenager so that's a goal.

I would say anything from an 8 to 8.25 deck would be fine, go for low trucks and 52-54mm wheels.

  11. I had to take a diversion due to road works and I had to drive along the green and the seafront. There were a lot of people on the beach and hanging around the green. They did mostly seem to be in little groups well away from each other, but there were people on the basketball court playing as well.As time goes on and people start getting more lackadaisical this is going to cause a second spike.

Following on from my "I'm old, overweight and thinking of learning to skate" in the confessional thread. I'm 19 and a bit stone with a dodgy left knee, a gut and moobs. Is an 8.25 deck going to be sufficient? What wheels are best for a chubster? Any other tips or tricks for someone who probably isn't as confident as a kid when it comes to what'll happen when I fall off.

The width of the deck doesn't have anything to do with how thick it is so as long as it isn't a dirt cheap one it shouldn't matter what the width is. The question is what do you want to do with it? Is it for cruising around, bowls/ half pipe or trying to do learn how to kickflip and grind it? Once those questions are answered then we can talk wheels and deck width. As for falling buy a helmet and pads. You will fall and after a while you learn how to fall, the trick is getting back up afterwards.

I tried to get back into it last year, age 36, but years of squatting has made me pretty two-footed and a great deal more muscular than before; had no problem hopping onto a moving board and coasting down some local hills, which was fun, but utterly lost the ability to PUSH. Every time I'd go to push, I'd feel the wheels stick for a split second, and I'd end up driving the board backwards and me facefirst forwards. Is it me being a lump, bad technique, bad board, or all of the above??

Sounds like shit bearings, or wheel bite from either loose trucks or worn bushings.

They're a big gateway band for a lot of teenagers discovering heavier music.

They are the band that got me into heavier music as a kid. Seeing this as an 11 year old boy blew my mind.

Especially after their terrible version of the song on TOTP.

I'm 35, a married dad of three and a touch over 19 stone. I'd look like Poochie off the Simpsons.

Fucking go for it. I am 40 this year and I took it up a few years ago. It is fairly good exercise, I end up sweating like a paedo in a playground after a session. If you need any tips or anything, there's a thread about it here.
