  1. I've always had an odd thought about how if WWE did buy TNA's footage brilliant it would be if WWE had a brawl in their big warehouse, purely because I would love to see them use a box od videotapes marked "TNA weekly PPVs" as a throwaway weapon. It would be the ultimate way to get across just how little WWE vire TNA, and ever since I've thought of this, I've really wanted WWE to buy TNA just so this can happen.

  2. I was watching World War III '95 recently and after watching weeks of Nitro building up "60 men, with a giant in each ring!", I was hyped. I had spent ages trying to figure who they could have as the 3rd giant. Did they have a 7 foot jobber? Or would they bring in some new exotic monster from a far flung despot? Then I watched it only to be confronted with the third giant being... Hulk Hogan?

Now, I can sort of see what they were trying to do. Hulk Hogan is the man, the myth, the legend. In terms of wrestling stature, he could be classed as a giant, and he is a hulk after all... But he's not a giant! He's not tall enough!

So, my question is was Hulk Hogan always going to be the third giant? Or were they actually going to have another 7-footer coming in and it all fell through, so they tried to cover their arse with Hogan?

  3. Celtic Park isn't that far from the city centre. It's 10/15 minutes on a straight road from Trongate with loads of buses. Also, it's Celtic Park! It must be the easiest place in Glasgow to find directions for. Having once been to a gig in an industrial estate in Newcastle miles away from any meaningful bus/train station, it's really not the worst.

  4. I think Sky boxes used to pick up a German channel, I want to say DSF, that used to show them so if you were dedicated, you could see them, but it would be overdubbed in German. Don't know when they stopped doing them though. It seems odd that TNT never picked them up seeing as the shows they broadcast were to build up to the PPV. Must've been odd watching weeks of storylines and never seeing the pay-off.

  5. So, this happened too, supposedly...

Here's the latest outpourings of grief from the Hulkamaniacs on the TNA Facebook of condolence:

"Dixie is so clueless.. sure she's not a McMahon? :p"

"News flash dixe Hogan quite so u can't fire him"

"Ok Hogan Quits AJ has no contract and the Knockouts are loosing air time what else is going to happen"

"we need to see Dixie carter fired also she suck as pres of tna the best theing is a good job on her knees she has the lips for it"

"Makes me wonder if this was a ploy with Hulk and Vince all along to run TNA down, thinks back to a certain Hulk Knows Best Episode, where he got offered a 10 year contract from Vince, before he joined."

"TNA had such potential until Hogan Bischoff and Russo screwed the.pooch just like they did.with WCW. Jeff Jarrett and his Dad.must be sick.to.their.stomachs"

"I will never understand why morons follow Dixie, all the while having wet dreams of Vince buying the company.

If I ever have to witness that again, I'll be done with wrestling for good. I despise the WWE. It's a fn kids show for Christs sake. Is that what people want? No alternative, just the moronic McMahon show?"

"Good, he ruined your wrestling. Him and Eric Piss-off"

"I remember wcw taking over in ratings and hogan reinventing himself with nWo."

"That's why WWE ITS BETTER cuss Dixie doesn't know THE BUSINESS."

    So what next for Hogan?

"It will be good to see the hulkster back in WWE with the ultimate warrior at the 2014 royal rumble"

"Now! Hogan is off to the WWE to face his clone John Cena @ WrestleMania30!"

    And TNA?

"Jeff Jarrett and the 6 sides of steel.. Maybe now TNA won't lose so much money"

"Dixie, you still suck. Go ahead and leave wrestling forever, give it back to Jeff Jarrett, let Jim Cornette come back and run creative. Thats when TNA was at its best and people cared. No one has cared what TNA has done since you walked in the doors. Follow in Hogan's footsteps Dixie."

"The moment Dixie carter and hulk hogan came in it went down hill....bring back the six sided ring ...bring back the x division guys...bring back the king of the mountain match"

"please dixie do us all and favor and leave the business you have no clue about. your on tv character is just plain stupid. the people that should run a wrestling business are the ones in the business for years, not one that daddy bought for her because she needed something to take off her failed daytime tv role"

    And Sting?

"Please sting come to wwe and give us taker vs sting now ia the only time to do it"

  6. The ear rings, that photo, that when I searched photos of Jindrak one of the photos was hosted on a gay website.

A lot of wrestlers have pictures uploaded on gay websites by the webmasters of those sites. Says more about the people who watch it than the wrestlers themselves. If you look at 8x10s of 90% of wrestlers the only thing that looks straight in them is Hacksaws 2x4.

There used to be some guy who sold compilations of squash matches on eBay, aimed directly at the gay market. You'd get too much information about Mario Mancini's trunks.

I remember a particularly amusing Segunda Caida Saturday Night review about Mike Tolbert being a gay icon in the making:

    8. Mike Tolbert vs. Greg Valentine

I have zero memory of Mike Tolbert and when I did a google search for him the first thing that came up was a link to a blog titled "beefcakesofwrestling" and when I clicked on it, it took me to a page that asked me whether "I understood and wished to continue" or "I do not wish to continue" that the site had adult content and decided that I did not wish to continue. But now I'll forever wonder "why Mike Tolbert!?" I mean, in this episode alone I would have rather seen hunky oiled photos of Steve and Brad Armstrong and Chris Jericho, why is Mike Tolbert considered such a beefcake? I fully accept that I may not have my finger on the pulse of 1998 gay men society, so therefore acknowledge that I may not know who is a stud and who is not. I mean, I've seen the movie Longtime Companion and own a bunch of H

  7. Yeah, the first one is in one of the rock pits in the quarry. He's standing next to a van. If you can stop him from taking off in his van, he'll surrender and come quietly. I'd definitely try that tactic because chasing him is far more annoying.

You are meant to use the manual map to locate him instead of the in-game one, but it's a pain in the cunt trying to do that, so I googled it. I don't know if I'll be doing too many of these as apparently they become massive wild goose chases pretty fast.

  8. Went and did the first bounty hunter mission at the quarry. My missus spent twenty minutes trying to smash him off the road down the motorway before getting killed by the police. I reset the mission, shot him in the legs and got him in ten seconds. Anyway, I found the diggers and the dump trucks. So much fun tipping cars over with the scoop and getting in a police chase and trying to chuck police cars over bridges.

  9. That No Mercy game on the 64 could have been brilliant, better than Wrestlemania 2000, but it had that bug that wiped all your data when it felt like it. Did every PAL release have that problem? If I downloaded a ROM of it would it be the same? I really feel like giving that game another go but I can't enjoy them games if I can't make my own blokes.

That glitch was only in the early copies. They fixed the glitch for later copies after finding out it was connected to blood for some reason, so they took out the visual representation of blood (you can still have first blood matches, and you'll still hear the noises and the wrestlers will still react the same, it's just the lack of a crimson mask that's different.) I don't think the ROM would have the same problem though, even if they hadn't fixed it.

  10. This doesn't surprise me. Eurosport have been advertising WWE on their EPGs for months, only for it to disappear and be replaced by MORE fucking cycling or something equally shit, because they only have rights on the mainland.

Eurosport are shocking with their timing. I taped something at 4:30AM (not exactly prime time, and surrounded entirely by pre-tapes and nothing that could overrun. The entire programme was a loop of the Eurosport placeholder. I had actually taped the programme after it and even then, I had to wait twenty minutes before the first programme even appeared. I taped something a few days later. Exact same problem. Eurosport's utter pish for taping.

  11. I have a pretty good idea who buba3d is talking about, because they do it a lot. But even they're not allowed, because they posted this on Facebook

Due to unforeseen circumstances, G-Force will not be selling GTA 5 until release date. We understand that this is disappointing for all of our loyal customers and we apologise to everyone who has came to see us expecting to buy a copy. Please share this status with your friends to help avoid anyone else being let down. Thank you.
  12. I don't care if Anderson did turn into Steamboat overnight or was cutting a promo more explosive than Punk's pipebomb, I wish he would just fuck off from wrestling forever. Every time I see him, my enthusiasm for wrestling as a whole decreases. I fucking hate the sight of him and nothing he can do will ever change that for me. Him turning up in WWE is probably my least wanted thing in wrestling, just go away and be a greengrocer or something, ANYTHING that means I never have to see him again.

  13. Ian Rotten apparently has cancer according to his Facebook.

Some of you may have seen that guys are saying that they are now open next weekend, and I have waited this long in an attempt to get ahold of everyone that was booked on the show so the boys would find out from me rather than social media. Many of you may have noticed the lack of updates the past couple weeks. I have been battling pancreatitis and my uncontrolled diabetes.

I was hospitalized on Friday, August 30th, and through the processes of treating pancreatitis and running other tests on me, I was diagnosed today with gastric stomach cancer. I will be undergoing chemotherapy on Wednesday, twice a week for the next six weeks in an effort to get rid of this which is being diagnosed and told to me as in a very early stage.

I'm not asking for anybodies sympathy, I'm not asking for anybodies money. If you have bought tickets to either the September or October show, your money will be returned to you within the next two weeks. I do ask if you believe in our Lord almighty that you say a prayer for me...and if you don't, any good vibes will definitely be appreciated too. I realize in this day and age to some people this may even be good news. To those people I hope that this terrible disease never strikes your family.

To the people I was unable to get a hold of, and you're finding out this way, I apologize, but our fans deserve to know and with guys saying they were open next weekend and stuff it was time to give them an answer. Know that I am not writing a bucket list, and that I am planning for the future. To the boys that I spoke to today, thank you so much for your overwhelming support. I cannot tell you how much your words of encouragement and love have meant to me getting through this beyond harsh day. My hopes are in 7 weeks I am given a clean bill of health and to begin preparing a great show for the first weekend in December. Thanks to all for understanding, and I hope you have a blessed day.

I know it's awful to not believe someone having a life-threatening illness, but this is Ian bloody Rotten. If it's true, I hope he beats it, but if in three weeks, I see tribute dinners to "pay his medical bills", I wouldn't be surprised at all.

  14. I wanted to get your guys' opinions on this.

So, at the ICW Edinburgh show they claimed that it was "the fastest selling show in British wrestling history". Now, selling 1000 tickets in the middle of the Fringe outside of your normal market in 2 and a half months is really impressive, but it's not the fastest ever. Progress sold out their latest show in 24 hours, and I'm pretty sure ICW didn't go back and check every single British wrestling show ever to see if they were the fastest.

This isn't about having a go at what is a really great company in ICW, but it's more of a general question: why do promotions make shit up that is quite obviously false, when telling the truth is impressive enough?

Now, I'm not Mr. Guinness, so I could be entirely wrong on this whole record thing, but surely the whole point is that they sold ONE THOUSAND tickets in such a short space of time. Progress' event was only 350 capacity, so while Progress may have sold out their run of tickets faster, the small amount negates that because if Progress theoretically were to run a 1000 seater, they wouldn't have sold out as fast as they did. If someone held an event in a venue with 10 seats, and sold all the tickets to their pals on a night out at the pub, would they be entitled to claim they were the "fastest selling show in British Wrestling"?

  15. That festival is tempting, just a shame that it's such a trek away.

Is anyone seeing Mainliner on their first ever UK tour? Bloody good japanese noisey psychedelic rock led by Kawabata of Acid Mothers Temple (who are also playing here soon).

I AM! They're playing the 13th Note up here in a couple of weeks, with support from Los Tentakills who are always a riot. Also, looking forward to AMT myself.

I like the BT logo, it's not really high art, but it does the job that it needs to do.

  16. Tying those two questions together quite neatly, I distinctly remember chat (including pictures) of Benoit doing a diving headbutt to the outside in New Japan. That would rank really highly for me in the mental unnecessary moves stakes.
