I'd love to know how many chippy awards exist in the UK. Every chippy seems to have one, I can't imagine they all have committee meetings.

When I first moved to Glasgow my then local chippy had some sort of award from Keith Chegwin of all people proudly on display.

  2. Foley was fantastic and hugely underrated. One of the most believable acts in decades despite having gimmicks that if given to nearly anyone else could so easily have ended up as wrestlecrap.

One of the things that always sticks with me is how much impact I feel he had positively on others by them beating him, whilst also never really feeling like it took anything away from him. Particularly Rock, HHH, Orton and Edge.

I'd genuinely argue as well that the HIAC match with Undertaker was Taker's biggest moment of his career yet 25 years on all the talking points and focus (quite rightly) are still about Foley.

His programme with HHH for me was the turning point from HHH being handed the title because he was Vince's son in law, to him being on a new level as one of the genuine top stars in my opinion.

I have an awful memory for most things but I'll forever remember the segment of him coming out saying Mankind couldn't face HHH at The Royal Rumble in a street fight but he was naming a substitute and revealing Cactus Jack.

  3. I feel like the Family Guy scene with Stewie running through the shopping mall naked shouting "help me I've just escaped Kevin Spacey's basement" or similar far pre dates these allegations?

I wonder whether regardless of the result of this trial it's one of those "open secrets" and has been for years.

Mike Jeavons recently did a week on Pot Noodles. He was not a fan of the Doner Kebab one.

On the subject of Pot Noodle's, the chicken and mushroom Aldi knock off version is far superior to the original.

  5. When you contrast what WWE are doing just now and their levels of storytelling around The Bloodline storyline, along with how hugely over Cody, Dominik Mysterio, Jey Uso, Sami Zayn etc. all are right now with the AEW World Champ running a twitter storyline where he doesn't want to leave his cat at home, for me it really shows how much of a turnaround theres been in the two companies over the last few years.

I was such a massive fan of AEW but it just feels so stale whereas it feels like WWE has so much good stuff going on all at once just now.

  6. My main predictions for this are that with them confirming MITB can be cashed in for any title now, LA Knight wins MITB, Gunther beats Riddle, LA Knight cashes in successfully for the IC title, especially if Gunther/Riddle goes on last as per the current card listing.

Though Logan Paul winning and cashing in on Rollins would make far more sense.

According to Footy Headlines (who are usually pretty reliable) that is the new Celtic shirt, and is on sale in Canada (which tends to be first as a market weirdly).

I also have it on pretty good authority that this is the new home shirt. I saw an image of it about 4-6 weeks ago and was told the pattern in the green hoops is supposed to reflect the iconic stained glass entrance to Celtic Park before its redevelopment.

For all the talk of worked shooty bollocks, you appear to be blurring the lines here as much as Punk is accused of doing. At what point has the TV character of CM Punk threatened to sue anyone or get somebody fired?

Not liking CM Punk the man is absolutely fine, not liking CM Punk the TV character is absolutely fine, but it’s a bit weird using his real life personality to point out how his TV character is a hypocrite, surely? It’s not far off from saying “well Undertaker doesn’t actually sleep in a coffin so he’s a hypocrite”.

Apologies if I'm completely misunderstanding your point but I don’t think Lion of the Midlands is far off with his “well he’s not an actual Rock” point.

    No apology needed mate.

My opinion on it is that I don't like either because ever since the original "pipe bomb", everything Punk has ever done was blurred lines shooty bollocks.

He goes on TV and uses his time to repeatedly vent personal backstage issues and grievances that Phil Brooks has in real life.

The entire main point of his "character" since the pipe bomb was this was him being himself which he wants to display as a rebel fighting the system and the hierarchy but in reality he's just a deluded weirdo who doesn't do anything other than moan or run away in a huff if he's not getting his own way.

I don't think he's done a thing in wrestling since the SES that was ever presented as anything other than him being himself whereas the examples being used like The Rock and The Undertaker etc are over the top charicatures.

For me its a ridiculous comparison.

None of that though gets us away from the fact you said his name his Punk and he's not very punk. I can only hope no one let's you near Ricky Steamboat otherwise there could be a maritime disaster.

    Nope, what I said was;

"He is almost a total parody of himself where for someone who down to his own moniker is supposedly "punk" is nothing but a grumpy old moany bastard who throws out the threats of law suits or tries to cost the jobs of anyone who he doesn't like."

His entire act, persona, character, whatever you wanted to call it was that he is and was Punk, right down to the name he chose for himself.

If all this was a work/work shoot bollocks and he changed his name to Phil Brooks and the entire direction was that the machine had ground him into being the twat he is today and going against all of his ideals and principals it would be very good.

Thats not it though, he's a self entitled man child who throws a huff and runs away any time anyone calls him out for his perpetual nonsense or he doesn't get his own way whilst still wanting to portray every part of himself as an anti hero.

You want to talk about the Bucks politicking?

Tony Khan has had to create an entire new show for Punk when he already has 2 that are haemorraging ratings, just to be able to keep him away from people he doesn't like, which he then uses as a platform to call other people soft.

    He is absolutely pathetic.

Seems like an odd complaint. How do you feel about Orange Cassidy not been orange, or Samoa Joe been from California, or The Young Bucks that are in their mid to late 30s? Is the only person you like Big Bill, although I think you might be ok to like Brandon Cutler because I think I once purchased a fork from him in Asda.

All wrestlers are insecure, it's part of the business as there is always the next big thing around the corner coming to take their spot. Punk has made it his gimmick and there seemed to be plenty of Punk t-shirts so it's obviously working. I did enjoy the bit where they panned to the crowd and the first thing you see is a guy in a Cornette t shirt though.

Anyway I'll leave you to your rugby league and your pottery Jonny, I'm off to try and hunt a zebra for my lunch, which in the wilds of Lincolnshire is fairly tricky.

    I believe the appropriate response is;

"He's not gonna shag you mate".

I don't see how me pointing out that someone's entire gimmick which he himself in this promo says is "the only one who's real" is that he's alternative, against the system, punk...but is actually the absolute opposite of those things and has been for years and years would be in any way comparable to me taking everything literally.

Though can someone please explain to me why Dwayne Johnson was allowed to be called The Rock when he's clearly a human being and not made from rock?

You've also said the fans who like Punk do and those who dont, wont and nothing can change that.

I used to love Punk as an act, there was a time he genuinely could have called himself the BITW at that time but that time was a very long time ago now. There was a time when everyone loved Dolph Ziggler.

Now though he is just a pain in the fucking arse and if him being there or not isn't going to change anything - which attendances and ratings wise it appears not to - then why bother putting up with his shite.

Whether you, I or anyone else likes the YB's or not they have done more to change the business than he ever did. He knows that, he's insecure and jealous about it.

He might have made more money (for himself) and been more popular/famous but that's because he was in the biggest company in the world and they strapped a rocket to his back for a period of time.

The Bucks went from being fucked out of TNA and barely being able to pay to get by to earning six figures each a year as fully independant wrestlers.

They then went on to be a major part of the biggest alternative to WWE in 20 years and whether AEW has been getting progressively worse or not they still played a gigantic part in it.

For all he wants to think he's different he needed the WWE and the machine and to suck the milk from Vince's evil old teets because he had to sell out to advance himself.

They turned it down, did it all for themselves, took that gamble because they valued their happiness and principals more importantly than being somewhere they didn't want to be working for people they didnt want to and it paid off.

Whilst he was suing his best mates they were providing them with jobs to set them up for life.

How much he hates and is insanely jealous about all of that is seeping out of every pore of his body.

I'm not even a big fan of The Bucks but what they've achieved is undeniable.

  11. CM Punk's act is so stale and repetitive I genuinely find it hard to believe anyone wants to watch him anymore.

He is almost a total parody of himself where for someone who down to his own moniker is supposedly "punk" is nothing but a grumpy old moany bastard who throws out the threats of law suits or tries to cost the jobs of anyone who he doesn't like.

His line about people being softer than the wrestlers they like was baffling as in my opinion he has to be one of the most insecure and pathetic wrestlers I've ever witnessed.

I met him around 2004 ish when him and Cabana were over for FWA. He was an absolute helmet then and its good to see that money, fame and nearly two decades of people constantly pandering to his over inflated ego and rabid insecurity hasn't changed him.

  12. Really difficult one for me as Allen vs Brecel in my opinion has much more potential to be a close and entertaining final than Selby vs Brecel, I just really don't like Allen.

Always thought he seemed a twat but the whole Reanne Evans stuff and allegedly only paying her ÂŁ100 a month towards maintenance of their kid despite earnings of 1 mill a year at the time was the cherry on the top for me.

EDIT - has anyone seen the fella who's usually there every year wearing the Coventry shirts? I haven't seen him in the crowd at all this year.

  13. What an entertaining semi final between Si and Brecel. Really wish it was the final because I'm just as happy to see either win and enjoying being able to just thoroughly enjoy the snooker on display.

As good as Allen and Selby are as players I don't particularly like either and for me the feel of a face vs face semi and a heel vs heel semi at least gives me a vested interest in the eventual winner come Monday regardless of the outcome of the semi's, which is a nice change.

  14. I've absolutely loved watching Si Jiahui play this tournament and really hope he wins the entire thing.

For the love of god could we please all chip in and get him a better suit if he makes the final.

Looks like he's borrowed one off his big brother for his first job interview.

  15. I particularly enjoyed the commentator's line at the end "there goes Shaun, always the sportsman, offering Si a handshake" as though shaking hands wasn't something routinely done at the end of every match and also ignoring entirely Murphy's smug face desperately trying to force a grin as he was absolutely seething.

Fancy Ronnie to go to town on Vafei today. Whilst ROS may well be a knob of a guy, he's the greatest to ever pick up a cue.

  16. I've been absolutely shattered all day, genuinely walking around like a zombie throughout work and the rest of my day since waking up.

Saw a couple of frames of Si vs Murphy and Si 9-6 up and got sucked in way past when I desperately needed to sleep.

Thought it had all been for nothing for a while there but Si did fantastically well to get over the line and always great to see that absolute pellet Murphy out on his arse.

If they really want to pander to the old Britwres crowd they should get Michelle Thorne in as a valet.

AEW (Put it) All In and (Not so) Forbidden Door.

Forget NJPW, give the people what they really want, AEW x TXW.

  18. I think Walliams was let go from BGT after audio was released of him repeatedly calling a pensioner a cunt?

I remember maybe a year or so there being a lot of rumours flying around that an early draft of his autobiography had an entire chapter about losing his virginity to his own sister and it *obviously* being amended prior to release.

This topic mentioning him has had me searching for any trace of the story which seems incredibly scarce and if anything only increases my likelihood of believing it.

  19. The WWF as a brand was insanely popular back in 1992 from what I remember.

Pencil cases, hasbro figures, sticker albums, velcro wallets, duvet covers, birthday party plates/cups/table covers, WWF magazine were all absolute mainstays for every kid I knew back then including me.

I could barely rent a copy of any of the Coliseum tapes until a Blockbuster opened locally as the newsagent who rented tapes prior to that constantly had them out before I could get to them.

On top of Bulldog being hugely over here as the "home town" hero and Bret Hart also being hugely popular (most kids I knew my age thought Hogan was shit in 1992 anyway), I genuinely think that with just how popular the brand was they could have likely sold the show with Repo Man vs Skinner on last.

  20. Its a crime if he's intentionally doing it right at a window where he can be visible.

I know one of my mate's had a similar issue with a neighbour in a flat directly across from him and he ended up recording it and passing it to Police.

The guy responsible ended up at court and on the sex offenders register then moving out.

I forgot two key things. Don't argue with an idiot and don't put anything in the AEW threads that isn't a billion percent positive about AEW or you'll get shouted down forever.

I think it will sell out and there will be such an uproar that they will do an extra night.

Could we not have just agreed to disagree and moved on rather than calling me an idiot because I dared to point out that suggesting Bellew being on SAS Who Dares Wins wasn't in any way relevant to his drawing power to a pretty closed audience in mainstream boxing?

Pretending anything I've said is idiotic or calling me an AEW fanboy when neither is anywhere near accurate is just childish.

You said something really stupid and worst case scenario perhaps I've said something close to that level.

Let's draw a line underneath it, move on and focus on what's going to be at the very worst, the third biggest wrestling event in the UK over the last three decades.

Tell me how many times in the past 5 years any of those have been on A League Of Their Own on Sky. Tell me how many of those have been on Celebrity SAS on Channel 4. Tell me exactly how many times any of them have been on TV in this country outside of wrestling? Tony Bellew is a bell end but he is known outside of boxing fans in this country. If you think that any of those you mentioned are more well known to the general public in this country then you had best stop drinking bleach.

Once again, you think anyone is going to pay ÂŁ50 plus and travel to Liverpool, plus hotel to watch him fight someone they've never heard of, potentially in a sport they're not interested in because he was on Celebrity SAS you have lost it.

If Tony Khan has any sense he's reading this thread and will use your stellar logic to book Sam Thompson vs Dev Griffin as the main event.

I had to google who they are because despite them having been on SAS Who Dares Wins, I, like most people had absolutely no idea who they are.
