  1. Played like a nob today. 30 Stableford points, so well below my handicap - gaining 13 points on the 5 par 3s, so you can imagine how badly I've driven it.

Lost a fiver too, to a friend of a friend who "hasn't played for a while" so is "playing off 21" today.

    Bastard.

Might be worth looking at getting notebook and a separate external cd drive? Do you need the Cd in all the time or just for installing?

    Just for installing.

All I want to do is bang the CD in then play the game.

My life is boring and simple.

  3. My laptop has finally gone kaput - had it since around 2012 so I can't really complain.

I'm a tight Yorkshireman, so I'm looking for a cheap, basic replacement - as all I basically use it for is to play Champ Manager 01/02.

I've just had a Google but I've no idea what I'm looking for. Anyone any recommendations for basically a laptop with a DVD/CD Drive so I can ignore the wife whilst she's watching Bake Off?

    Cheers.

  4. I played the other Sunday at a course called Forest Pines not far from Worksop. As you may gather, there's a fuck load of trees everywhere and if you're off with your tee shot, then you're in the shit. Or trees at least.

With this in mind I basically put the driver away and hit 3 iron of each tee - it's not an overly long course but the radar needs to be there. All in all it was an enjoyable experience and I almost played to my handicap (which is 18 at the minute, unofficially).

Usually around this time of year, 16 of us play in a Ryder Cup style competition where we all pair up and play 8 singles matches. This year, due to Covid reasons we haven't really organised it. I might try and sort it for a Sunday somewhere before it gets too cold.

It is my grandads funeral next Friday I guess I won't be able to go now?

I think funerals are exempt, along with weddings and something else I can't remember.

My Facebook feed is now full of people quoting #scamdemic and #plandemic

This bunch has basically fucked it up so badly that people don't believe it exists.

    We're fucked.

There is some rubbish local cricket about Max, even more than usual. I umpired a game where the team batting first were all out 32 a couple of weeks ago. Not particularly good bowling just really bad batting. Highlight of the batting was the number 3 who was bowled leaving a ball that pitched middle and hit middle. Walked off claiming it pitched outside off and jagged back.

With regards to that, the situation with Covid has really played havoc with a lot of clubs here in sunny Yorkshire. Clubs in the Bradford League haven't even entered sides this season - they're stating it's due to Covid and player safety, but it's basically because not as many clubs are paying players this season so a lot of the mercenaries have fucked off. There's a club in the Huddersfield League called Hoylandswaine who still are paying lots of players. They have Azharullah from Northants, the Randhawa brothers who were on Yorkshire's books, Arron Lilley and Nathan Rimmington. They got 450-3 on Saturday and the opposition got 78. Scandalous. Some geezer got 313* - who is allegedly on 2 quid a run.

I play in the South Yorkshire Championship - which is the league below the ECB Premier League and the standard is woeful, mainly for that very reason. Lots of clubs have said they aren't paying players this year, so many players have simply gone to play for clubs that do pay. My club aren't paying anyone this year (which actually affects me, because I usually get paid to play - rightly or wrongly) and we are a very similar strength to before - without an Overseas player for obvious reasons. Incidentally, we're playing at Cleethorpes at the weekend, which is your neck of the woods I believe.

In conclusion, it's a little surprising/dissapointing the number of players who simply aren't playing- and it can't all be Covid related. If you're usually paid to play (either on a flat rate or performance related) and this year you aren't playing due to a lack of payment, then you're a disgrace.

  7. I've been here 17 years (fucking hell) and barely post to be honest - but there isn't a clique imo. What there seems to be is blokes who share common interests and jokes from approaching 20 years of interacting with each other - which is surely to be expected.

A life changing post from me this one.

I've spoken with a couple of people who have come across Curran around the county circuit. Both of them said he is one of the most unlikeable humans to have ever walked the earth. Just a really arrogant prick. They should definitely unleash him on Pakistan, there will be a fight.

If Stokes is fit to bowl I'd leave out Anderson and get Zak Crawley back in. I'd leave Bess out for Leach. Bess has been very average with the ball this summer.

Can confirm that both Curran's are on the Djokovic scale of arrogance. Both complete wankers.

Anderson has to miss out doesn't he? As alluded to by the post above. His average of 44 this summer is probably skewed slightly as we didn't play any tests in the early part of the summer on some proper green seamers where he does serious damage.

I'd pick Wood in front of him for the next test, plus whichever batter gets the nod at 4. Maybe they'll put Crawley at 3 so Root can go 4.

  9. Ah right, you're a Wednesday fan. I get it now.

Why have you been under a 'soft' embargo? Because you spent beyond your means. You had a strike force of Rhodes, Hooper, Forestieri, Fletcher, Nuhiu, Joao and Winnall at that time. You haven't spent anything since because the wages you're paying on those 7 alone are astronomical. You've broken the rules.

I agree that football shouldn't be settled in court - but what happens when someone breaks the rules? Do we just smile and nod and get on with it? Roll over and have our belly tickled? No. I'm happy that our board are actually showing a bit of backbone. If clubs such as Derby, Wednesday and Wigan didn't break the rules then football wouldn't be decided in court rooms.

You're all over the place here. You say the EFL ratified the Moore transfer - which they did, fair enough. But they also ratified the Wigan takeover. You can't have one without the other. You can't have a go at the EFL when it suits.

At the risk of turning this into a shitty Barnsley v Wednesday debate that nobody wants to hear (too late on that probably), I'll leave it there.

  10. Of course we were. We played by the rules.

Wednesday sold their ground to themselves for 60 million. Derby likewise for 80 million. How is that allowed.

All clubs voted for the season to end when it did. So Wigan has gone into administration during this season. They voted for the season to end on July 22. They went into administration on July 1. During the season.

The penalties are there for all to see. The rules are there. The new owner doesn't fancy pissing away the 1 million a month that the club is currently losing. And they've still not paid us for Kieffer Moore. Good practice? I think not.

2 years ago Barnsley got relegated because Bolton stayed up on the final day despite not paying bills or players or whatever. They're now fucked. At the time they were gloating and giving it the big one. We played by the rules. We got punished. It's brilliant to see the chickens coming home to roost for all the mismanagement in the division.

Usually I have sympathy for fans who have been fucked by owners. Bury and Blackpool immediately spring to mind. But I've got no empathy at all with fans of Derby, Bolton, Wednesday and Wigan. It's great when money is being thrown about, but there's always tears when it dissapears.

  11. So.

Sheffield Wednesday have conveniently had their points deduction held over to next season.

That then leaves the door open for the Independent Panel to reduce Wigan's deduction to save them too - sending poor old Barnsley down.

Let's look at Wigan and the year ending June 2019. Turnover 11.5m. Wages 19.2m. Operating loss 16.2m. Players sales 7m. Net loss 9.2m.

20m of loans payable to the parent company in the last 12 months and cumulative losses of 66m.

Yet the managed to buy Kieffer Moore off us in August for 2.5m (rising to 4m) and doubled his wages. On am average home gate of 8k.

The administrators have just thanked fans who have contributed to the club to allow them to finish the season and pay some staff. A well run football club.

    Yet we're the bad guys.

Now excuse me, this chip on my shoulder is hurting.

  12. Don't use your fucking driver on the 1st tee. This will be the worst 2 minutes of your life. 1st tee. In front of the clubhouse. In front of 3 of your mates waiting to piss themselves. Dont use the big dog and nob it 3 feet. Just hit a 4 iron 180/200 yards. You'll be fine from then.

Depends how far in advance they planned Mankind going over Taker as part of their run. It’s heavily diluted if he’s just lost to Diesel whereas losing to Taker in 1996 never hurt anyone.

    That's very true.

Maybe it's a bit of a chicken and egg scenario that one.

Honestly, that press conference was an absolute car crash.

Which is ironic really considering he tested his eyesight by driving his fucking car for 90 minutes.
