  1. Survivor Series 95 does it for me. Its generally one of the shows that I'll stick on if I'm hungover or doing something else in the background.

A fun opener with a lot of the talented undercard lads, the wildcard match and a pretty decent main event means that there's something for everyone.

SS96 is probably a better card objectively, but for pure nostalgia, SS95 tickles my tastebuds.

The club I'm involved with played a cup final at the weekend against Hoylandswaine, which may be a small village outside Barnsley with an estimated population of less than 1,000 people, but thanks to a sugar daddy bankrolling the cricket club they tend to put out an All-Star XI (compared to the average village cricket team). Their captain is Arron Lilley who currently plays first-class cricket for Leicestershire, and also in the team are Shakeel Ansar (played T20s for Pakistan), Muhammad Azharullah (played first-class for Northants), and the slightly lesser known Chris Holliday, who was praised as well as criticised for smashing 316 not out in a 30 over match. After a glorious day's cricket with momentum swings both ways, we prevailed. Match review and photos here, if anyone is interested.

Add me to the Hoylandswaine can lick my balls camp.

    Well done mate!

  3. Well I've just made my first ever Hole In One today.

Par 3, about 135 yards and slightly uphill. 9 iron, one bounce, two bounce and in.

I went in the bar afterwards and there were only 3 blokes there, plus the 3 I played with. 5 pints of peroni and 2 IPA's - cost me ÂŁ30.80.

    Never again.

  4. Thanks to both of you - hadn't thought about the tax and N.I. angle either. Thanks.

I've got a stack of holidays days left this year (one good thing from Covid I guess), so that will make up a part of my initial payment with a bit of luck.

    Appreciate the links.

    Cheers.

  5. So, I've no idea if this is the correct thread - but here we go.

Basically, work have overpaid me for the last 21 months. I was seconded for 12 months between October 2018-19, and, after finishing my secondment I was never returned to the correct pay grade.

So the long and short of it is that I've been overpaid ÂŁ2700 over 21 months. They are letting me know what my options are asap regarding 'rectifying the situation'.

Has this happened to anyone before? Is it best if I make an offer prior to HR getting involved? Should I wait for them to suggest repayment?

Oh, I work for the local council if that makes a difference.

    Cheers.

  6. The Kid v Owen Hart at King Of The Ring 94.

Starts with a baseball slide in the darkness and does not slow down for shit. Owen's pink tights are sexy as hell and Kid was just an incredible worker at this time.

    Just great stuff.

  7. I got 10 days last Friday  - been a long 4 days so far.

Been racking my brains when I contacted someone and I went for a Maccies breakfast on the Thursday morning and signed in using the app - so it must have been that. However, I ate breakfast at 6am and there was literally *Redknapp* nobody else in.

So I'm guessing it kept me signed in and I picked up a positive from someone later that day.

Incidentally, one of the lads at the cricket club has tested positive yesterday from a Lateral Flow Test and is getting a PCR later today. He played at the weekend, so currently all our side are isolating pending the result of the PCR

  8. Just popped in here to put one up for Royal Ascot this afternoon - then found out the last posts in here was the shambles of a Grand National.

Anyway, Lord Protector is 28/1 in the 5.35 at Ascot. I don't know why. Won all his 3 starts previously, is well drawn in 20 for a front runner - so will hopefully go forward and stay out of trouble as everything runs into one another on the round course. Canny jockey on board.

    Get stuck in!

  9. The worst part of this is the constant "Stokes and Buttler are missing so we'll be fine". Now Stokes is obviously an incredible cricketer, but Buttler has a test average of 34.

I can't see anyone else who bats well enough to break into the side though. The top 6 who played these last 2 tests constantly dominate County Cricket - so they're obviously the best we have.

  10. Played against Cleethorpes today @Lion_of_the_Midlands

They got 179 we managed 149. Depressing stuff really. I was run out after fielding all day in this horrible heat.

Put it down as character building.

Think they should be promoted back into the Premier League this season I would imagine.

Sorry to anyone else who doesn't give a flying shite.

In fact, anyone else playing this season? Let's open the floor up.

  11. Not a sniff today lads sadly.

Discorama finished 7th, which is ideal when all bookies pay first 6 places.

If it makes you feel any better, I've played cricket today and broke my big toe.

    This country.

  12. Here's a bit of a rough draft regarding the National itself on Saturday.

    ----

    - Take out anything younger than 8 and older than 11. (DEFINITELY RED, TAKING RISKS, THE LONG MILE, BLAKLION, SUB LIEUTENANT, VIEUX LION ROUGE).

Eliminate anything that hasn't won over at least 3 miles (TOUT EST PERMIS, BALKO DES FLOS, SHATTERED LOVE, CLASS CONTI, FARCLAS, MINELLA TIMES).

That's a quarter of the field gone, either through inexperience or being a little 'long in the tooth'. You also need the necessary stamina to win over this marathon distance, so anything yet to win over a minimum of three miles should be ignored.

    - Draw a line through anything that has failed to complete in the race before. I don't like horses that have had bad experiences in this unique race (BALLYOPTIC, LAKE VIEW LAD, ALPHA DES OBEAUX, DOUBLE SHUFFLE, AMI DESBOIS)

    - Eliminate anything that hasn't finished in the top 3 in a race with more more 20 runners (BRISTOL DE MAI, TALKISCHEAP, MISTER MALARKY, KIMBERLITE CANDY, SHATTERED LOVE, JETT, CANELO, GIVE ME A COPPER, HOGANS HEIGHT).

The reasoning behind these 2 categories are that a horse must prove that they can survive and run well amongst the hustle and bustle of a large field, and a fall or a pulled up in the race previously could leave a mark.

So, we are now left with....

    CHRIS'S DREAM
    YALA ENKI
    BURROWS SAINT
    MAGIC OF LIGHT
    ACAPELLA BOURGEOIS
    ANIBALE FLY
    ANY SECOND NOW
    OK CORRAL
    POTTERS CORNER
    MILAN NATIVE
    DISCORAMA
    CLOTH CAP

There's 12 horses there, which is probably double the amount I would like to have a punt on. I'll upset Orsen by taking out CLOTH CAP, because I simply can't back anything at a single figure price in this race. It may bite me, but that's life.

ACAPELLA BOURGEOIS doesn't really go on the good ground - he prefers soft, so I'll take him out. Down to 9 now and we're getting there.

Next, I'll eliminate anything that has never experienced these fences before - not necessarily by running in this particular race, but either in The Sefton/Becher Chase etc. This removes CHRIS'S DREAM, BURROWS SAINT, ANY SECOND NOW, OK CORRAL, POTTERS CORNER and MILAN NATIVE.

And there we are, down to 3.

    ANIBALE FLY - 25/1
    MAGIC OF LIGHT - 14/1
    DISCORAMA - 16/1

If you had to push me for the winner, I'd go for MAGIC OF LIGHT - but any of the above wouldn't surprise me.

  13. Great thread bump.

    Here's Aintree Day One.

I like McFabulous in the Aintree Hurdle. Plenty of these are stepping up from two miles, and this intermediate trip is bang on for my lad. No idea what happened last time out, but I fancy him to reverse form with Brewin. Likes the ground.

Latenightpass in the Foxhunters is a decent bet also. Led to just before the last at Cheltenham, this drop in trip will be bang on. Front runners do well over the big fences and hopefully he keeps out of trouble.

Miss Lamb in the last is decent value too. Finished second behind the odds on fav last time and with a 5lb pull she must have a decent chance of running well at 16s.

Don't like the first two races and The Bowl is a trappy affair. Maybe Mister Fisher might be the one

    --

For the Masters I'm on Koepka at 25s, Ousthuizen at 55s and Wallace at 90s. Plus a few each way doubles with Discorama, Potters Corner and Anibale Fly in the main event on Saturday.

  14. I have a bunch of rubbish on my Kindle, mostly for when I have a shit and want something to read.

Anyway, my current binge has been The Raw Files by James Dixon and a bunch of other blokes. Flicking through their reviews, I just had to mention this beauty from the 1st October 2001 Raw.

"Mike Awesome is slumming it with Spike Dudley and The Hurricane when he should be contending for the WWF Championship. Goddamn shame".

Now I don't mind Mike Awesome, I found him entertaining at times. Some of his garbage matches were worth watching. But having him mix it up with Angle and Austin? No chance.

    Any more spring to mind?
