  1. Mastodon are playing the O2 Academy in Glasgow next week. I thought it might be good to check out some live music whilst I'm here anyway.

    How are they live?

And does anyone know how big the venue is?

O2 Academy holds about 2,500. Downstairs completely standing room. Side balconys are standing and the balcony face onto the stage is all seating.

Can't help on whether Mastodon are good live or not. Not seen them unfortunately.

  2.

I feel like I'm being stupid here, but I can't really tell the difference between the two there.

Neither can I. The whole 60fps vs 90fps thing I don't really get. Must be my eyes. :(

I don't think that was the point of the video. It was more to do with how much more foliage there was on PS4 compared to the XB1 version. Everything else seems to be exactly the same.

It explains more here - http://www.gamepur.com/news/17016-gta-v-ps4-vs-xbox-one-comparison-gifs-shows-startling-and-noticeable.html

My comment was tongue in cheek, although it does seem odd that the XB1 had to give up that extra little bit of detail.

Ahh, I never watched the video. I just jumped in with the usual PS4/Xbone comparisons.

In the gifs there is a lot of difference. In the video not much. I've yet to play through it properly though. I'm still messing about with Sunset Overdrive and then onto Halo before I get a good go at GTA V.

  4. What songs of theirs are the same?

The only two I can name are Going to Ibiza and Venga Bus and those are pretty different sounding..

Nah I was saying I was in the same mind as the Irish lass and I thought that "We Like To Party" and "Venga Bus" were two different songs. Complete spaz moment to be fair.

Yeah, The Vengabus was essentially Up and Down with added lyrics and bus noises.m.

So it is. I feel even more stupid now!

  5. This Irish comedian Aisling Be a was on Buzzcocks last night, which I ended up watching because Reasons.

Her face when she got the Vengaboys question wrong. I would have answered the same thing. I had to go and google "Venga Bus" as I was sure that was the name of that tune as well. Before I got onto the web I was starting to give Vengaboys pelters in my mind due to their two biggest songs being essentially the same. :duh:   :withstupid:

  6. so Biffy played first tonight. I was really surprised with that being a gig in Glasgow and all. As I thoight. Didn't like them. Thought it was very self-indulgent. Most of it is just noise in my opinion apart from the riffs on Bubbles and Many Of Horror. Also I'll never forgive them for a big building intel they gave a song to go into the softest of shite. What's the point in building up a crowd like that to immediately drop them back down?

Slash was on top form. Probably the most I've enjoyed any of his gigs despite the short set time. Meant he didn't play Rocket Queen which was a bummer. But on the bright side. Meant we didn't get a 20 minute rendition of it with a 15 minute solo.

  7.

Log into Unblock US on the internet explorer on the xbox one, I'm sure that's how I got it to work for me.

Nah. Just tries to get me to install the setup app for Windows 8 but you can't do that on XB1.

    Maybe I am mistaken.

Are you using the following DNS settings?

    Primary DNS: 208.122.23.23

    Secondary DNS: 208.12.23.22

That's what I'm using with no problems when it comes to WWE Network.

The Biffy/Slash gig tomorrow was only £10 in total, no booking fees or anything. Not shabby so I thought I'd go. May stay for Biffy and see what they're like live (only if I get made to stay), but I think I saw them at Download before Soundgarden and wasn't impressed. Maybe it was them, I can't remember.

Biffy subbed for Metallica last time they played which was the Saturday, and Megadeth played before Soundgarden the following day

The new Machine Head album is streaming in full on the bands youtube channel. Follow the link from metal hammer - http://metalhammer.teamrock.com/news/2014-11-05/machine-head-stream-bloodstone-diamonds-in-full

That will be it. To be fair, I'm sure I watched both Biffy and Megadeth from the same spot, haha! Looks like the people I'm going with want to stay for Biffy. So I'll make up my mind then.

  10. Going to the Biffy Clyro / Slash MTV gig tomorrow in Glasgow. Would it be rude if I left after Slash played? That is assuming they'll be on first. I'm just not a fan of Biffy Clyro at all. What's the forum's perception of Biffy?

  11. Phill Rudd charged with being involved in an attempt to hire a hitman to kill two men and also drug possesion.

AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd on New Zealand murder plot charge

The drummer of the hard rock group AC/DC, Phil Rudd, has appeared in a New Zealand court on charges of attempting to arrange a murder.

Mr Rudd, who was born in Australia, has also been charged with possessing the drugs methamphetamine and cannabis, and of making threats to kill.

The musician's waterfront house in Tauranga, on New Zealand's North Island, was raided on Thursday morning.

AC/DC are due to release a new album later this year.

Mr Rudd, 60, was released on bail after a brief appearance at Tauranga district court.

As part of his bail conditions, he must not have any contact with anyone involved in the alleged murder plot.

Local media reports say that the alleged plot targeted two men. The judge ruled that their names as well as that of the alleged hit-man cannot be revealed.

Mr Rudd will appear in court again on 27 November. He has yet to enter a plea.

nder New Zealand law, the charge of attempting to "procure" a murder carries a jail sentence of up to 10 years.

A police official quoted by the SunLive news website said the information that led to the raid on the house was provided by a member of the public.

Mr Rudd was kicked out of the band in 1983 and rejoined in 1994.

But he did not appear in a new photo of band members released last month to promote their upcoming album Rock Or Bust, and was reportedly absent from the filming of a new music video, prompting online speculation about whether he was still in the band.

    Mental!

  12. San Andreas has been re-released on 360, there's a price glitch and it's showing up at £2.99. I'm tempted but twitch users are playing it and saying the controls are all botched, it's an android port or something.

That's can't be right. Not as if they're using touch screen controls, is it? :D:p
