  1. Absolute nonsense.

Of course. You and green didn't nominate him for every nagative award. Green didn't accuse him of having a "Joe The Lion" style breakdown for giving his opinion.

To be fair I don't think you can count Green as he's a barely functioning retard.. He nominated someone who has only made about 50 posts all year for White Noise just because about 10 of those posts were insulting him (Miamivenis).

I'm not sure you can blame Seven for the fact that Green desperately wants to be like and be liked by him.

Miamivenis deserved the nomination because he genuinely contributes fuck all. Some of you may say that's a big case of pot calling the kettle black but it doesn't change the fact that all the guy has done in his posts is moan and complain or, as you said, attempt to insult me.

If it was a case of me nominating him purely because of the insults, then surely I would've seen fit to nominate you also? Personally I don't see why you don't put me on ignore if you genuinely can't stand me but I guess that would give you one less thing to whinge about.

Seven gets way too much hatred on this forum is all. He's introduced me to a lot of new movies (and recently new music) and his opinions are something I usually agree with. What will no doubt come as a shock to you is that I am capable of having my own opinion on things. There's just a lack of motivation to share them when the forum is over-run by boring, overly serious, pretentious cocks.

  2. Jack Swagger.

    Cody Rhodes.

    Sheamus.

    John Morrison.

I don't think any of them are any further on than they were a year ago. Shaemus is a better worker and John Morrison looks like he's on the verge of breaking through but I don't feel any have progressed.

In Rhodes' and Swagger's case they've been severely hindered by the state of the Smackdown roster. However I thought Swagger stepped up to the plate when breaking into the main event and became an incredible joy to watch, even if he was booked rather poorly. Similarly I thought Cody's developing of the Dashing gimmick was superb and how well he advanced in the ring was also surprising to say the least. He and Swagger are the only two I'll watch on Smackdown nowadays.

Sheamus started the year as champ, sure, but he wasn't really accepted in the role for a while. I'd argue until he took out Triple H and snapped up his second title that he didn't really shine that much. When he did get another shot though, boy did he run with it. He's a pleasure to watch on Raw now and has even brushed up his ring work in his recent outings with Morrison and Orton. Speaking of which, Morrison started the year as a floundering bland midcard babyface who looked nearer to being fired than given the main event push. Then, at some point mid-way through the year, something seemed to click for both him and the booking team and he built up this tremendous momentum. He's FINALLY found his stride as a face and, though not QUITE ready yet, looks poised to become a prominent feature of the main event in the new year.

Considering how the position of all four men looked at the beginning of the year, I'd say that they've "broken out" into strong characters and enjoyable workers. It does depend on how you define "breakout star" though, I'll admit, but if Miz deserves a nomination (and he does) I'd argue that these do also.

  3. "Entertainment" is fair criteria for a pro-wrestler but it has to come alongside having good matches or drawing money.

I couldn't give a fuck who draws what to be honest. If I did, I wouldn't have nominated Kevin Steen, which incidentally hasn't caused one word to be said about it.

On the good matches part, who says people haven't enjoyed Kevin Nash's matches?

He's not had a good match all year.

I hate to be THAT cunt (actually I lie, I fucking love it) but that's just like, your opinion, man.

Isn't the whole point of this award thing to get the general census of the board? Although you may moderate them they're not the "tiger_rick end of the year awards" are they? I mean feel free to give that a shot but I just don't think it'll be as popular.

    Oh and:

    Kevin Nash.

    Scott Hall.

    ;)

  4. I chose to write one of my essays on the evolution of the horror genre and, in my research, I found loads of similar reports and interviews and such about the video nasty era. It seems so interesting how the whole thing came about really. Where can I get hold of this?

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Video-Nasties-Defi...6580&sr=1-1

It was only a tenner when I bought it but it was limited edition. Well worth getting though, and still worth the money.

Should have been more clear but thats the set I got.

Cheers for the link, what makes the edition so "special" may I ask? It says it has some trailers but is the packaging special in any way or something? I'm a sucker for those gimmick DVD packages.

  5. Video Nasties: Moral Panic, Censorship and Videotape.

Esential viewing for anyone with an interest in the video nasties era or censorship in general and an amazing documentation/expose of one of the most absurd, confusing and at times just plain nasty (no pun intended) periods in modern British history.

Its worth watching just for the shocking lack of self awarness displayed by those responsible for the witch hunts who still to this believe that they are in the right while on the more serious side of things there are stories about people actually going to prison.

Also of interest is the section about the so called "research" into the effect video nasties had on children which of course is complete and utter rubbish but is still a disturbing reminder of how easily laws can be passed based on bullshit and media hysteria.

    KoS Rating *****

It's absolutely brilliant, isn't it? The best bit is when that total idiot Graham Bright is revealed to have lied about the effect on pet dogs of video nasties to try and get them banned. Mong.

The whole package is awesome, the trailers are great as well as is the ident section. I would recommend it to just about anyone.
