  1. They don't have the pull of any of those yet. But, if they get a sabbath on one day and a maiden on the other day that's more than enough pull, and machine head could easily slot into the third headliner place.

Also, just won tickets to see skindred and therapy in birmingham, pleased about that.

  2. There are lessons to be learned from all sides. Councils shouldn't be left to their own devices as regards the number of pitches - there should be national min-max levels per council (weighted by overall population, say) so there's no confusion. But equally the Traveller community has to begin a long process of accepting that the laws of the land are not on an opt-in, opt-out basis for ANY segment of society. I have a friend who works as a legal aid solicitor, and has a lot of gypsy clients, and they say the scale of criminality amongst many of those communities is terrifying - up to and including murders that go unreported to the police more regularly than you'd like to believe. The inward-looking nature of their society hold them back from more thorough integration with mainstream society., and that's something ultimately only they can change.

Which, to be fair, huge amounts already have. If you go back far enough (about 4 generations) I'm descended from travellers, my missus is two generations removed. In so far as she's been settled for two generations.

And if we're serious about getting them away fromt that, ensuring they have somewhere they can settle, and their kids can go to school, brings them into society and gives far more chance of them moving away from that type of society.

That's the main problem I have with the dale farm evacuation, it moves the kids from schools, puts more of a chip on the shoulder of the people in the community, and generally makes the problem worse, rather than better.

  3. It's somewhat difficult to live in a capitalist society without being part of a capitalist society. As soon as you earn over the minium wage and don't give the difference back to those poorer than yourselves you immediately open yourself up to accusations of hypocricy. Having money in the bank, being invested in markets to give you your pittance of interest, having money tied up in a pension, everything in this society is part of being in this society.

That doesn't mean you can't believe society shouldn't be run in a different way, it just means you're part of society as it's currently run.

  4. David your attitudes to these things really confuse me. In recent discussions about obscene rises in underground and train fares due to high salary increases on already high salaries you pretty much were all for it and the average man being paid a wedge. Surely your attitude should be the same here on price increases or is this different because it affects you?

The difference is that one benefits executives and share holders, while the other benefits workers. It's not really that contradictory, it's just a socialist rather than right wing attitude.

  5. Do those occupying protesters have jobs or go to uni or such?

Have they a source of income? Do they contribute?

    :/

At the height of a recession I'd say there's a fair chance some don't. Although of course you did get a bit annoyed when it was shown that there may have been rich people involved in the american versions.

Do you just try and find a reason to whine about people protesting about the actual problems facing this country/the world?

  6. Apparently so, for you're as bad as anyone.

Oh fucking behave yourself, the only thing I did wrong in this thread was disagree with you on british porn, and I didn't even know you had such a soft spot for it at the time. You threw a fucking hissy fit because I had a different view of it to you and I'm meant to to know my place and not talk back cos the mods don't like me?

    Wind your fucking neck in.

Yeah but there was a degree of provocation there, to be fair.

  7. So there's a secret bankers conspiracy to go to war with anyone who doesn't bank with them, and the whole muslim terrorism, oil, urge for living space for the german people, every other historical reason behind the major wars was just a conspiracy by bankers who secretly rule the world?

He didn't actually say anything even approaching that.

That certainly seemed to be the inference, unless he was simply saying that the winning side always had the benefit of being financed by the central banks. But the clear inference seemed to be that these wars were happening to ensure central banks could extend their reach.

Oh an interesting aside, EDL's first blackpool demo drew 1,500, the demo today only drew 150, it would seem the movement already declining massively and quickly.

Don't answer btw mickey, this isn't to start a debate with you, simply mentioning todays politics in the politics thread.

  8. So there's a secret bankers conspiracy to go to war with anyone who doesn't bank with them, and the whole muslim terrorism, oil, urge for living space for the german people, every other historical reason behind the major wars was just a conspiracy by bankers who secretly rule the world?

Does the idea of a group of powerful people wanting to become more powerful really seem all that far out to you?

Not at all, I have no doubt that oil interests were massively important in the iraq war, I have no doubt that cameron and co are ensuring a status quo that favours the 1% instead of the 99% (to coin a recent phrase). The conspiracies for power and money and there for all to see, it's part of the status quo.

I question the possibility of bankers having the power to create the situations that led to the wars of the previous 150 years, I question whether or not they could down the twin towers, or create al qaida, or engineer the rise of adolf hitler. I don't think they'd have allowed the rise and collapse of the sub prime market, as it fucked with and continues to fuck with the world economy so badly, I don't see why - with all their power - they'd allow so much free trade with china to endanger their position as banking superpowers, when they could so easily simply get all 187 to break off all trade with them.

It's so awe inspiringly easy to debunk and so monumentarily retarded that you I shouldn't even have to start.

I'm sure rich and powerful people do live large at the expense of the rest of the world but it's called capitalism, it's there in plain view and the populace at large thinks it's the very best option we have. Given that, you don't need further ridiculous conspiracies, the real ones are right there.

  9. So there's a secret bankers conspiracy to go to war with anyone who doesn't bank with them, and the whole muslim terrorism, oil, urge for living space for the german people, every other historical reason behind the major wars was just a conspiracy by bankers who secretly rule the world?

And they were careless enough to have documentation showing this on show outside of number 10?

  11. He did, but he was a mental fundamentalist christian who didn't believe in evolution and was almost entirely answerable to oil companies.

Oboma on the other hand is actually a functioning human being, is not so hugely linked to oil, and has the biggest financial crisis of the last 80 years to try and get through.

I'd say both are safe for the moment.

  12. North korea's not too fussed about muslims though, they're all about communism. And going by the wiki leaks, even china can't be bothered with backing them up anymore, they're just too mental. Don't see north korea as having much bearing on it to be honest.

But the arab world as a whole, are not exactly enamoured with america and the uk at the moment, diplomatically speaking it'd be mental. Financially it'd be mental in the current climate. I can't see it happening unless iran push their luck alot more than that.

  13. Given a choice I'd say iran's probably on the wish list for a war for the US. Extra militant islamic, calling for the wiping out of israel, nutter in charge. Dunno is they have oil but if they do they tick all the box's.

As far as fancying chances go, iran vs the usa isn't even a question, they'd get thumped. The bigger question is whether you can do it without having to keep a peacekeeping force there for the next 20 years, and just how much more you want to piss of the arab (specifically muslim) world.

  14. But that's not why he went though, the media are having a few hints about it, cos it makes the story a bit juicier. But him lying about what the bloke was up to, and the clear shadyness of the whole set up. Whether he not he took it up the ass from him doesn't come into it.

  15. Well you can always torrent it, that way you get to choose some quality porn without having to pay out.

As far as english porn stars go, don't think you can go far wrong with kelly stafford, anyone whose entrance into the business starts with

"I like to get anally raped, can you shoot that?"

is A ok in my book.
