Ah this is entertaining for a Monday afternoon. Arguing over Dwayne and Dave...Between a Rock and a big cock...

Have I made up that Batista choke slams/Batista bombs someone in GotG? I've seen it and enjoyed it but it was a while ago. Maybe I'm getting confused with another film.

He was teaching Chris Pratt how to do it to his now ex wife in a behind the scenes bit, but I'm sure he doesn't do it in either film

So this is how this is going to work then, is it? We have a perfectly civil disagreement about something and you're going to decide to take it personally and do the old "Hey look, I PMed D-Mal to be nice and he's still being a meanie!" trick. Nah, I'm done.

Also, I meant Guardians of the Galaxy, they're all the same to me those things.

Don't reply to any more of my posts if your feelings are so easily upset.

Your nit picking, there's no high ground with you, just the high horse upon which you sit

You said that all of Bautista's films are intended for VOD/DTV. Would that apply to Spectre and the Justice League films as well? Blade Runner 2049?

Even if you didn't mean that, many films are made with no decision made on their release platform during production, so how you could make that assumption is beyond me. He's got two Escape Plan sequels lined up and at this point it's unclear how they'll be released. The original was a cinema release but under-performed. The sequels do have Stallone in them but it's by no means cut and dry how they will be released.

If your going to just nitpick he isn't in any Justice League films. Grow up Devon with your high and mighty and bullyish attitude, I reached out to you privately and you are still being a tit towards me.

Are you honestly telling me that a low budget production company, who specialize in straight to VOD releases are always attempting for a cinema release?

Let's not forget that amongst all the blockbusters, Rocky was also making nonsense like Faster and Snitch.

Edit: Empire State was also direct-to-DVD and that was only 2013.

Never even heard of Empire State, although looking at time frames it was a Lionsgate release when they were acquiring small film companies to launch a low budget division, so that may have been why.

He has made a fair bit of nonsense, the comparision is all of those films, like Faster and Snitch were designed to be Cinema releases, Big Dave's are always intended to go straight to DVD/VOD that is the difference here

Is Ballers budget garbage, or is it actually a bit show work a good time slot etc? Is he still making it? I watched a few episodes on a flight once and it was rubbish, but watchable.

I have no idea what that sentance even means, but I will try to decipher it.

Ballers is on HBO, they spend a fare bit of money on it, it keeps getting renewed and they will only keep renewing if it is popular so yes it is doing all right. Never seen it, but heard it described as Sport Star Entourage.

oh and it follows GoT's so has a great time slot. Sunday nights is THE night to have a show on HBO, Boardwalk, SitC, Deadwood, Oz, Curb, 6 feet under are just a few of the shows that had that slot/night

You can't say they're terrible career choices when you haven't even seen them yet. He's an action star. He has a limited niche. If he wants to keep working then he's not always going to get blockbusters.

I am not saying the films THEMSELVES are terrible. But if you look at people like Nic Cage now he has gone from Hollywood A-List to Straight to Video king (also see Travolta and De Niro). What I am saying though is if you keep putting your self in low budget action films rather then focusing on doing fewer but bigger projects, you will eventually stop seeing those big film role offers. While he is contracted for Drax for a few more films, I dont know what other big roles he has. But I hope BR gets him some more exposure and other opportunities as he is better then the roles he is getting.

But that was him just starting out and he wasn't the household name that The Rock was even before he went full-time in films.

He is still making them now though. He has one coming out, I think next year now with Pierce Brosnan about a football stadium being blown up (I only know this as it was my beloved Upton Park they filmed it at)

Tron: Legacy had the advantage of not being R / 15 rated though.

Valerian was shite and completely over-budgeted, absolute insanity spending $200 million on a film starring a supermodel and Dane fucking DeHaan. Ghost in the Shell was based on a thing almost none of the multiplex going public had heard of and was always a risk, although I liked it and much preferred it to the stupid anime.

Hell IS freezing over. I really liked Ghost In The Shell, was an unexpected highlight when it had bombed

So, I've tried watching Blade Runner a couple of times but just can't get into it. I'm not a huge fan of sci-fi films so I'm sure it's great, it just didn't grip me.

My question is, do you need to have seen the original to "get" the sequel? Or is it a good stand alone film without the knowledge of back story?

If you couldnt get into the first, unless your watching it for free, don't bother in that case

Blade Runner was never going to make that much money at its opening. It's a sequel to a 35 year old film that was a box office failure itself on its initial release. Factor in its length and its lack of appeal to most young people, I think it's done well with what it's got. I was expecting it to be a box office flop and just glad the studio were dopey enough to part with over $150 million on a film unlikely to make them that much back but almost certain to be great.

Tron: Legacy did alright. Better then Tron did 28 years earlier, but similar story to Blade Runner (bleated sequel to cult film). My main worry is the more big budgeted flops happen, the less likely we see this thing again (also see Ghost in the Shell and Valarian from earlier this year)

When got back in n wrestling in 98 having only ever watched WWF previously, I remember playing WCW NWO Revenge and clapping eyes on Steiner. I refused to believe that was the same guy I'd seen years earlier in WWF. Blew my mind.

Similar to me. I stopped when Mankind debuted and I remembered renting out of a video shop (game rentals, oh the 90's) and seeing Hulk on it blew my mind as I thought he'd quit wrestling when he left the WWF and seeing Steiner in the game confused me greatly. Him and Van Hammer

To get hyper local for a minute, is that the Bas Vegas Imax? How long is it out of action for?

It is and no idea. Cineworld have been refurbing all screens for about the last 6 weeks or so but they said should be finished by November (just in time for Star Wars :-D) but I think they were showing Kingsman in Imax when it first opened so hopefully the IMAX wont be down too long. Though I am hoping if it is being redone they might install Laser in there like they did in Leicester Square

According to the woman sitting in front of me 2049 was a load of shit, there were only a few people at my showing but they were constantly up and down missing the biggest plot points just to have a shit or buy a drink.

I've already told myself that I have to watch it again, this time in IMAX.

I understand her view point. it is not a typical blockbuster

It is visually, one of the best films I have ever seen. It looks phenomenal. But It just feels like it goes on and on. Could have easily shaved 20 minutes off that (and about $30 million) and it would have been no worse for it. It is going to be a massive bomb unfortunatly. Tracking at a $35-40 million opening in the US and at a cost of a reputed $200 million, I dont think we will see another.

I enjoyed it, but I didnt love it from a story point of view. That said, go and see it on the biggest screen you can. My IMAX was being refurbished and I am grateful to have still seen it on a big screen.

I wouldn't bother with 3D at the cinema though. Film is pretty dark, but it will excel on my home set up

  14. if they had  know Lucas was going to offer up Lucasfilm in the near future, I'm sure Avatar would have been a no go. I know Pandora has had good reviews but it's taken far too long for what it's done and we're still 2 years away from a new Avatar movie. Pandora would have been Endor. Lots of rumours for a Zootopia/tropolis make over in AK as well now. Hopefully replacing that Dino land area.

Are you aware that originally Animal Kingdom was going to be Beastly Kingdom before Eurodisney bombed. Budget cuts scrapped it and the imagineers working on that concept took it to universal where it was re-jigged and gave them duelling dragons?

I wouldn't put tuna in beans, but cheese is definitely a yes. Also, I would put in pieces of frankfurter (although, really, best to just buy the beans with franks in a tin and then add the cheese).

Tuna and beans works surprisingly well. But I also think Chicken and Tuna on a Pizza is a completely reasonable combo

And this pathetic, infantile thread rumbles on...

if you have no interest, why comment? or is it to just to increase post count?

Back on topic, why were there 2 "Hasbros" missing from the UK? What did we do to deserve it?

I just don't understand this mindset people have with sequels. I mean, fine, if you don't like it then you don't like it. I'm not singling bAz out at all on this point because this is something you see and hear all the time. Just this morning I was having a discussion with someone when I said I wanted a sequel or prequel to It Follows and they were talking about how an exploration of the mythology or a follow-on would "ruin" the original. How does that work? Do people suddenly think, "Oh, Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare's shit. A Nightmare On Elm Street is bollocks now!"

The same could be said for remakes. The bitching and moaning about the recent Robocop and Total Recall remakes was unbearable - but how many people went back and enjoyed the originals or even watched them for the first time as a result of those being made and released? Did they ruin the originals too? No. If anything they strengthened them.

The world has gone upside down because I 100% agree with Devon here. Drives me nuts this does.

Confession - I actually thought new Ghostbusters was pretty good. But all the morons saying it was ruining the originals still had the originals to watch. People are just idiots.

I recently watched Blade Runner for the first time. I was a bit underwhelmed due to all the hype. Visually stunning but story I thought was a little underwhelming. That said I am really excited to see 2049 and will go see it on the largest screen open at my Cineworld (as half of it is being refurbed at the moment, and in 3D. I am going to pay the extra

Oh  Universal have crammed all of their IP's into their two parks and dont really have many left to work with unless they buy in.

See Harry Potter. Infact, Island Of Adventure, minus Jurassic Park, is all bought in IP's. As is Terminator, Shrek (was until this year), Transformers, The Simpsons. So they have a lot that isn't there's already. The long standing rumour was they wanted LOTR but Tolken's estate kept turning them down
