  1. I watched it opening morning in Imax 3d with my wife. She came out loving it, I left feeling really confused. I liked some bits and hated others. I was almost relieved to see similar opinions as I thought maybe I had gone mad. However, when I saw it again a few days after, without the expectations of what I was going to see, I really enjoyed the film for what it was. It was not like the template Star Wars film, though I think there are a few parallels to ESB then most people admit to. I know why people have been divided on it, but I think it is a film which over time will be better regarded then it is now.

What I do find amazing is that in just 16 days it dethroned Beauty and The Beast as biggest domestic release of 2016 in America. That is a feat and a half

Just seen that Universal are now doing a Marvel Character meal thing at IOA. 1, this is something Universal are miiiiiles behind Disney on so its good to see them putting some thought to little things like that. Also their Xmas HP stuff is a step to try to rival Disneys evening entertainment.

2, There had been loads of speculation that Universal and Disney had come to a deal with regards to the Marvel stuff, hence Disney going with Guardians at Epcot and adding other little bits and pieces in their parks. So its interesting that Universal are now increasing the Marvel presence in their parks. They must be coming to the point where they'd consider revamping that whole area too seeing as its nearly 20 years old now.

My understanding is Universal are reluctant to give it back as they sell loads of Marvel Merchandise in that section of the park. The current deal is everything theme parks east of the Mississippi, and were in the original contract and featured in the island. For example, in the Marvel cafe they have images of people like Namor, which would rule him out of being used at another amusement park. Guardians is one of the franchises that had not featured in IOA, hence the attraction being built. if they have Meet and Greets with people like Iron Man and Captain America et al, then I could believe that rumour. But as things stand, nothing has changed between them it would seem.

Cutting out sugar altogether is way tougher than it sounds, and pretty much unnecessary in all cases. Processed sugar's are poison, there's nothing about sugar in fruit that is poison.

And, if you are going to cut out, or cut down on processed and added sugars (which everyone should, really), then fruit can be a great way of mitigating withdrawals and cravings. I'm down to 13st1 now, from 18st10 on May 13th this year, and I genuinely don't think I'd have been able to do it without fruit to fill the void left by junk food.

That’s cracking on the weight loss. Well done. I dropped just over a stone by eating less and walking more in a few months. But it’s maintaining that’s key, not how quickly you drop (as my times on juice diets have shown)

Searched around 30 pages and can't find that amazing looking pork belly recipe from a while ago. Bought pork belly to serve at the weekend and wanted a great way to serve it that was a little different and thought that asian recipe would have been a great way to do it. Anyone able to find it or have I been an idiot and overlooked it on my search?

The search function here is a bit poor. I used this one a few years back though, did rice instead of salad, But worked well enough https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/sticky-pork-belly-vietnamese-style-salad-smashed-peanuts?amp

That's great to hear. Always like to know a recommendation went down well.

Hard to believe they also make Nurishment supplement drinks too.

Just make sure you don’t get the two confused when cooking

Star Wars characters pop up in the Lego Movie, so there must be some kind of agreement in place. Likely depends what the terms of a Lego contract entail.

I'd imagine cameo's will need to get sign off (similar to Wreck It Ralph did) and obviously they have been doing Star Wars shorts and TV Series for a good while now. However Lego Movies are made by Warner Bros (Who also did The Clone Wars film if I recall correctly) so unless Disney and WB do it as a joint production I cannot see it ever happening. The diminishing returns on both Batman and Ninjago compared to the first Lego Movie probably do not help the situation.

Dammit. Thought that might be the case. The other bit of obvious 'we haven't got time for this'  editing was

the terrible use of the warriors 3. I know they haven't been super well used in the previous films but they are a big part of the Thor character and cutting 2 of them down to a single line and a 5 second death was a bit shitty and I'd be stunned if it doesn't come out they they filmed way more of them than was included

I didn't leave the screening and still missed that 😂

all of the stuff with Odin / Hela was originally set in New York. No idea why it was changed but all the stuff in Norway, and the flashbacks featuring Odin were shockingly bad. Also I could have missed it when I nipped out for a wee but was the coolest shot of the trailer, the valkayres charge on Hela, cut out as well? It feels like there was an entire sequence of how she was originally beaten and banished cut out and replaced with some exposition)

I really did enjoy the film but it really felt that they had jumped in with the scissors to get everything they wanted in

Yes, you missed a flashback of the Valayres charge on Hela. It explained why she went the way she did when Thor brought up Asgard

I'm on my phone so can't spoiler but there seems to have been some major last minute tinkering with the film which has left some of the worst greenscreen I've seen in a big budget film in quite some time.

    Which bit?

i loved Hunt for the Wilderpeople and you can definitely see some of his influences (as well as the actors) in this. I thought this was excellent and possibly my favourite marvel film this year

Is it me or is the current series of CYE the most Seinfeldy one yet? That's no bad thing mind you but it definitely feels more a traditional sitcom than usual.

it definitely has a different vibe. I am still enjoying it however

Larry shouting during the memorial service because he didnt have a seat was well over the top. Even Larry wouldnt be that much of a twat normally. Felt out of character to me. The rest of the episode was fantastic though. Especially Richard Lewis's self portrait of a young Michael Douglas

That's true, but I was surprised at how many fireworks they still use in the videos of Happily Ever After I've seen.  I'd assumed it was largely going to be cost-cutting (i.e. how the Hollywood Studios Star Wars projection and fireworks show uses a tiny amount of fireworks compared to its predecessor) but if anything it seems to use more fireworks than Wishes did and is a longer show.

When we were talking about it, the week before it closed, we assumed that Happily Ever After was a cost cutting move. Your right in that I think there are even more fireworks. I am sure I read somewhere that each show they spend about 5k on fireworks. PER SHOW!

In the old days that would get you an Ainsley Harriot for an hour (that was his fee per episode of Ready Steady Cook when he took over hosting)

    Im glad Disney allow this.

While i understand them trying to keep you on site i would have hired the car for a day and gone shopping. then your mind starts to wonder about going to Uni for the day.

My last big issue is to try and book a hotel for one night with views of castle fireworks, my son likes them but is unable to deal with the nose of them. Alas every attempt to get him to wear ear defenders has failed.

So i guess thats the poly? or contemp? for a night

Not sure about the Poly, but I know the Contemp has a channel that plays the music during the fireworks. The only thing I would say now, having seen video, is that the new show is very projection heavy so without seeing the castle you will lose a lot of the impact (it is similar to the Dreams show DLP did for the 20th anniversary if you have ever seen that). We watched wishes from the Cali grill before which is another option if the room option is too expensive as they have their own viewing platform and also pipe the music in

Happy Death Day - I love a timeloop film and this one was pretty good. A bit predictable for my tastes but still really good fun, and very funny in places.

The Ritual - Exactly as bland and pointless as it looks. Nobody needs to see it.

I'm intrigued by HDD so may give that a chance.

after going to Halloween Horror Nights and visiting The Shining house there ive booked tickets to see it for Halloween as .... I've never seen it before. Don't worry, I feel embarrassed enough about it

I've been very disappointed in recent years to find out Jim Carrey seems like a total dickhead in real life, but that looks great and I will still enjoy it.

I don't think he is. I mean he's a comedian which normally means they struggle in life mentally. I just think he's become completely jaded with Hollywood and when you tend to speak out or no longer confirm your classed as troubled and blacklisted.

or he could be a right twat and I shouldn't be defending him

Watched it on my own with 1 other person in the cinema on a Tuesday afternoon at 1pm, whilst bunking off from my work experience placement, so the movie will always be special to me.

Still love the scene where he reads the entire book (The Great Gatsby?)

You're correct. If you ever watch the real Andy, Jim's impression of him is spot on. I love the Kaufman conspiracies of him faking his death and him making a triumphant return and the whole Tony Clifton thing. It was my first Paul Giamatti film as well who was also superb. Heck, even Courtney Love was good in it.

I remember at the time of filming of Lawler breaking Carrey's neck and not knowing if it was real or not, just as he had done back in the 80's. The blur between truth and fiction is the most interesting aspect.

Man On The Moon is criminally underrated or at least underseen

Yeah, you'd be mental making a "Child's Play" film and bringing it over here in 1993 (thus the space between 1991 and 1998, then they changed to comedy-horror a bit) with the Bulger Murder still in people's minds. Whole lot of films can be blamed for it including "Mikey", which was never mentioned but the Bulger father had seen.

"Look Whose Stalking" was the tag-line for "Childs Play 3".

"Mikey" is still banned over here. Full thing is on Youtube though.

Thanks for the clarification. Mikey looks pretty grim and I am not surprised in the aftermath it was not released, though maybe surprised it is still so over 25 years later. I wonder how he'd seen it when it was never released here, bearing in mind this was pre internet days so trailers would only be on VHS or at the cinema.

I've always liked Jim Carrey''s performance as Andy Kaufman, this documentary about it looks like it's going to be great.

Man on the Moon is a favourite of mine and probably his greatest role. I loved Andy in Taxi as that was all I knew and his story and life are fascinating. I remember reading Bob Zamuda's original book which I recommend.

    this looks remarkable

The Chris Packham Asperger's documentary was superb - I'm a fan of the guy anyway, and loved his book, which parts of the documentary pulled from, but I found it quite thought-provoking, and very moving in places. The question as to whether or not he'd want a cure for Autism was fascinating, and the "carers" in the US who were so quick to say "yes" to that question, unequivocally, creeped me out.

Sorry to drag the thread off topic, but my wife is really doing all she can to help our son by learning as much as she can about it. She saw this pitch by the Son rise program as they were coming over to the UK and she was going to part her money to attend the courses but they claim to cure it and their methods seemed too sketchy for my liking (similar to the place Chris Packham went to in the doc) and she changed her mind

Excellent stuff.  It's great that more and more stuff is being broadcast.  I remember a tweet along the lines of "Autism is made up, it wasn't around in my day.  Yeah? Well Everest wasn't mapped until 1856 but I'm sure the mountain was still there"

My Dad, who is no longer features in my life, once came out with this gem. "Peanut Allergies are a load of bollocks. Didn't exist in my day". I replied "You're correct. People just died."
