  1. I saw Django. Great, but enjoyed it less then I did the first time I saw IB so 4/5 from me. Christophe is the man though isnt he?

Also saw taken 2. I think I can improve the film (and cut down the run time) with one simple step

So, when Bryan has been captured by Murad and he is telling him why he is getting revenge, Bryan tells him what about all the girls they captured and sold as Sex Slaves? Murad should then turn around shocked at this turn of events and apologise to Bryan saying he had no idea he was so evil and apologising for his sons action and letting them go. Much better film!

Not only did my wife guess the ending (passing her driving test) but bearing in mind how she drove that Taxi, there was no way she would pass. Bryan must have held a gun to the instructors head! Also, why was 90's singer Ultra Nate the instructor?

  2. One thing I don't get is why would Alex Shane sabotage such a show? The FWA was mainly running London back then and this show took place up North. It doesn't make sense to me to risk such hatred by fucking things up for Farer unless he really just wanted to fuck with the guy. Not saying Shane is above this sort of thing but I don't see what he gained by it.

See Sanjay Bagga. He does this all the time. You know, to protect the wrestling business from Strawbs and Backyarders.not that in the early days his cards were made up of backyarders like.

  3. I have been on a bit of a movie filled few days, so here goes.

The Pirates in an adventure with scientists - If you like Aardman (proper stuff, not the CGI cartoons) then I am sure you'll enjoy this. Some good joke, nice voice acting (even by Hugh Grant) and interesting songs (Flight of The Concords!) 7.5/10

The Dictator - I had heard good things, and I like Sacha Baron Cohen (Yes, even Bruno, but not the Ali G Movie) but this was pretty rubbish all in all. A few funny lines, but none of the set pieces worked for me (other then the helicopter scene). Also the talking into a Vagina scene. ugh! 3.5/10

Carnage - 4 great actors, 1 film, how could it go wrong? By being boring and for a 76 minute film dragging. Not entirely terrible, but expected more. 5/10

The Goon - Seann William Scott in not acting like Stiffler shock! Some good laughs, not funny enough to be an out right comedy, not serious enough for drama. Seems to be a bit confused on what it wants to be, but worth a watch. 7/10.

I have been banned for 2 weeks for choosing the films we watched after subjecting the wife to the two in the middle (even if she also wanted to watch Carnage). Luckily, she doesnt love watching soppy stuff, so maybe alright

  4. Ok, heres my input.

The Kinks are underated and should be held in the same regard as The Beatles and The Rolling Stones

I've only ever listened to their Greatest Hits album which I loved when I was little, but I assumed their albums weren't in the same league as The Beatles and Rolling Stones. Which album is their magnum opus?

Village Green Persersvation Society is a great concept album. Something Else has some great tracks, but they were a fantastic singles band

  5. Just googled Amiga, and thats it. By PC I kinda meant that it wasn't a console.

And nice one on Battle Valley, i'm 99% sure that's it, images on google say 1989 which would be about the right year. Its not as good graphics as I seem to remember, but I suppose thats the same with most old games (go Bombjack).

Thanks Richie, is there any easy way you know of that i'd be able to play it? Work interweb won't let me look at any game sites, but i'll have a look myself too.

Could the game be Sidewinder per chance?

  6. I will plug mine now Dis After Dark. A podcast for the more mature Disney fan. Were only on show 2, but had some good feedback and made the top 10 travel podcasts in Itunes!

I think you need to think of things that are of interest to you and see what comes up. You'll be surprised!

  7. I just can't believe they are remaking Spiderman again! It's not even been 10 years since the last franchise got started.

Tell me about it. Plus, the Spiderman films were fucking massive, stupidly high-grossing and more merch than John Cena. I understand a bit when they do it when another recent version bombed, like they did with Incredible Hulk, but this seems silly to me.

I believe its something to do with the rights. If sony didnt make a new Spidy film soon the rights would have gone back to Marvel (now Disney)

  8. What do we say?

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind was one of the few films that I have ever seen that totally sold me off the back of its trailer, a brilliant effort that put Tom Wilkinson's character at the forefront. The resulting film was outstanding as well, as it turned out.

"An incredible film that will mess with your head but, it's utterly fucking beautiful."

ShortOrderCook / purplemonkeydishwasher is absolutely spot on, he really is. It's easy to get bogged down with worrying about the back and forth of the timeline of the plot and so on and so forth, but there is far too much going on here to worry about that. Actually, I joke about the Total Recall connection but much like with that film, it is less about when and where stuff may or may not have happened, but more about the people it is happening to. They are far more interesting. Plus, as Ljungberg points out, it really is a beautiful film in many, many different ways.

The initial pairing of Kate Winslet and Jim Carrey, who in my opinion will never better this performance, is one of the most beguilingly realised romances in modern film - it really is more like something from 1940s cinema at the start, except with more swearing and red hair. Watching their relationship subsequently unravel is as unexpected as it is completely heartbreaking, but never uncomfortable to watch, before they try and piece it back together again. Meanwhile, support characters courtesy of the brilliant Wilkinson, Kirsten Dunst, Mark Ruffalo and Elijah Wood are almost as intriguing as the central pair.

As far as I'm concerned it is a modern masterpiece that will stand the tests of time and one of greatest films of its decade. Just wonderful. Oh, and Mrs Small says it would probably be her number one as well.

    Some good bits!

An outstanding, heartbreaking film. Truly great, though my best friend thinks its one of the worst films he has ever seen :-O

It's on Channel 4 Friday Night/Saturday morning this week for those who havent seen it!

  9. Just watched The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane which sounds wrong but it's a horribly underrated film, i had never even heard of it till yesterday when talking about Taxi Driver. Martin Sheen is one hell of a creepy bastard in it too.

Gladders needs to do a 'My Best Film: Martin Sheen thread' hes been in some cracking films

    Correct, he was in Spawn

  10. Been viewing this for weeks. About time i contributed

    Day: Sunday

    Time: Morning

    Company: me and the wife

    Film: The Hole in 3D

    Rating: 2.5 stars

Comments:Really was looking forward to Joe Dante's latest, but I found other then some nice 3D effects the film to be a bit long winded and too scary for kids, not scary enough for adults. Disapointing

    Day: Friday

    Time: Evening

    Company: Me and the Wife

    Film: Yes Man

    Rating: 3 stars

Comments: I LOVED the book, and had I not read that first maybe this would have scored a bit better, but I had. Jim Carrey was pretty damn good in this film. Could have done with more of Zooey Deschannel. Rhys Darby in another film/show steeling role on top form. I expected to hate this film for not being faithful, but it was better then it deserved to be. worth a watch

  11. I have been visiting this forum for years. Always reading but never posting.Until now.I haven't been this shocked since Eddy, however due to his past habits I always feared the worst. Chris Benoit to me was gonna be like Stu Hart. Around forever, or near enough. I was just going to bed and thought i'd check for news. It's not only his passing but his family too that makes this all the more tragic, no matter how it occurred. My first thoughts are of course suicide or murder, I hope it is neither, but whatever it will be is tragic. My favourite memory of Benoit was meeting him in London a few years ago. I shook his hand and I swear no body had a handshake like that man. It was like a Vice and I have shaken hands with a fair few wrestlers. I told him that as a pure wrestler he was unequaled and he looked up, looked me in the eye and said thank you.In a sport where ego's tend to rule, Benoit was an exception to that rule.Rest in peace Chris Benoit
