  1. What are everyones thoughts on Ringo Starr's Solo stuff? He is no Phil Collins is he.

He's had a few good songs, mostly penned by George (It Don't Come Easy, Photograph) I don't know what people expect from him though, he was mainly a drummer and never a big songwriter or anything and huge solo success was never really on the cards for him. He still a big celebrity and does tours with his All Star band. If I recall his solo stuff was alot more popular in America than it ever was here, think he had two number 1 singles over there.

  2. Anyone got any tips for the weekends games? Iv'e got an 8 team accy on Rangers, Linfield, Charlton, Sheff Utd, barca, bayern, southampton and west ham 3 quid stake with about 120 back.

Here's what i've went for, hopefully of some benefit as i've been up two of the last three weekends on footie.

Nothing in Premiership takes my fancy, Everton are 4/6 at home to Wolves but i think that's too short for any value.

Cardiff @ 13/5 away to Reading looks a good price given current form although Reading i think are in a false position and will come good soon, however Cardiff going on a great run and not conceding many.

Oldham @ 20/21 at home to Chesterfield. They can be a bit hot and cold but have been going along well recently with Kuqi banging in the goals.

Sheff Wed @ 9/5 away to Tranmere. Wednesday used to be a soft touch away from home and get rolled over easily but they've added a lot of height and strength to the side with a few loan signings from higher leagues and can now mix it up a lot better with the physical teams.

Shrewsbury @ 7/5 away to Northampton. Home team are on a horrible run although they sacked manager during the week and may get a lift but still fancy Shrewsbury to have enough.

Southend @ 5/6 away to Dagenham. Nothing more to say than Southend have won their last six away games and you can't really look against that particularly with Dagenhams recent results.

Thats a five team with four away which is quite optimistic. Have put on as an accumulator and also four-folds (ie: any four from the five). Accumulator pays back

  4. Turns out on Saturday I was photographed by one of those blokes who wonders round making keyrings. I didn't get one but I did appear on there facebook pictures page, doing my best George Harrison/Peter Sutcliffe impression

For anyone interested, I can't really tell you how out of it I am in this photo but since I appear to holding an orange VK lets just say very.

As someone else who's been told they look like Harrison you really do have quite a big resemblance.

  5. Has anyone here seen Grave Encounters? It's a really enjoyable horror in the same vein as Blair Witch, Paranormal Activity, et all...only that it's much better than the majority of them.

The Perfect Host is also great fun, even if the ending's a little weird. David Hyde Pearce steals the show.

Iv'e seen the trailer for the perfect host but I can't look at DHP without thinking Niles, same as the way I see Kelsey Grammer I guess. He's never done much in the way of films, does he play the part suitably different to watch it as a whole new character? Everything about him, especially his voice screams Niles to me.

I get exactly what you mean but, in this instance, imagining him as being psychotic Niles turned up to 11 actually makes the film all the better.

Now I just imagine Niles from the episode where he keeps trying to injure Martin to stop Daphne from leaving

  7. anyone seen The Rum Diary? saw it earlier at the cinema and it was probably the most pointless movie of the year. I actually kind of enjoyed it whilst it was on, but at the end it's kind of like 'what was the point of that?', Johnny Depp played his quirky self type character and i thought he was terrible. When i saw The Tourist i thought Depp's campy delivery was intentional, im know realising it was because he's shit. The movie definitly had it's good points though, and i guess the Hunter S. Thompson crew will be all over it (although reading reviews, they've basically butchered his book), but it was a pretty empty experience.

oh, i fuck Amber Heard all day though.

Depp is horrendously overrated as an actor and is lucky he has a mate/mates with the power of Tim Burton to keep him going. Burton's films are shite, Depp is hammy and Helen Bonham-Carter is ugly and stiff, I imagine they all sit in a room together in the dark until one of them suggests an idea for a film[/controversial]

  8. In JR's defence a large part of that is down to his Bells Palsy. At least in the face.

I agree i'm not slating J.R I just mean that people always use the argument against him when Lawler is two years older. Iv'e always marveled how Lawler looks how he does and is in as great a shape as he is at 61 after years of bumping etc, if it wasn't for all the women he got though i'd imagine life could be quite boring at times with no alcohol etc.

  9. The contrast between JR and Regal is funny, though. Regal's a well respected, well liked member of the roster, who they feel is to old to be a regular character, so they show him the respect by allowing him to commentate, go down to FCW to help out the young talent (who all adore him) and let him wrestle his student while the commentary team has a mutual wankathon over him. They keep him around because they know he's put a shift in and has unlimited knowledge to pass on. Then there's JR, who they also feel is to old to be on TV, so they put him on TV anyway just to embarrass him for a big old laugh. Its how it should be as well.

The thing that always gets me is that although he looks beyond fantastic (really shows the benefits of a life without alcohol and drugs) Lawler is actually older than J.R

  10. When did hogan first star tearing his shirt off?

I would think it would have been when working in the AWA with Verne Gagne in the early 80's as I think he usually portrayed a heel in his previous runs in the WWF and Memphis etc.
  11. Kent Brockman: But first let's check the death count from the killer storm! Bearing down on us, like a shotgun full of snow

Presenter: Well Kent, as of now the deathcount is at zero, but it is ready to shoot right up

Kent: Oh my god! *Shakes fist* DAMN YOU SNOW!
