  1. I was actually fairly glad that Diane left. The Sam/Diane thing was totally overplayed and I think the program needed a bit of a new direction. I think without the increasingly tiresome love story it gave supporting cast, particularly Frasier, a chance to Flourish.

Favourite cheers moments/episodes/minor characters etc? Everything with Harry the Hat was great I thought and also loved pretty much everything Cliff did.

It just felt like they did the exact same thing only with Rebecca in the role of Diane for me. The Harry the Hat episode where he helps them trick the guy to get Coach's money back is fantastic.

  2. Not so much 'on the telly', but I recently got hold of every episode of Cheers. It's even more wonderful than I remember. I'm up to series 4 of 11 and I've been howling laughing at every episode. The supporting characters are great, but the timing and delivery of some of the lines between Carla, Coach, Sam and Diane is absolute gold. It's definitely one of the most consistent comedies of all time and although it's a good while since I saw the later series, I can't see the quality dropping too much. I'm just up to where Woody Harrelson replaces Coach behind the bar and some of his lines, whilst probably not as good at Coach's, have floored me. I only intended on watching a couple of episodes here and there but I'll probably be watching as much as I can when I get some free time. If anyone has never seen it, try to get hold of some. It's just brilliant.

I too enjoy Cheers but it really put me off when Kirsty Alley came in as Rebecca, after ages and ages of the build up to Sam/Diane it just felt like they hit the reboot button when she was brought in and it all started again. I know it was neccesary to keep the show going but it was never the same after that for me.

  3. Cage get's alot of unfair stick for me, he does choose some random/crap films but I don't think there can be much argument that he's a great actor, like De Niro in recent years the great films override the shit for me.

I would definitely argue that he is not a great actor. As would many.

That said, it'd be hard to argue that he isn't great in some roles.

As well as being a ridiculous over-actor, he also seemingly has the worst taste in films ever, which is why he ends up in some real shite. Ghost Rider was like a "passion project" for him and it is utterly atrocious. I can only assume that the good films he's been in are ones that his agent forced him to do.

Fair enough but the likes of LLV, The Rock, Con-Air etc are all great films in which he delivers a good performance but you are spot on with the point about his rubbish selection of films, again like De Niro he seems to take everything that's offered him and the less said about the likes of The Wickerman remake the better. If anyone hasn't seen his early/mid 90's work I'd encourage them to go back and have a look as there is some really good stuff in there.

  4. Line of the night for me was niff saying "if I was there, I'd have walked out by now", raising the point that he was more than happy to sit watching a shit stream until four in the morning, but if he paid a shit load of cash to watch it in the stadium, he'd have got on his bike before the main event happened.

How presumptuous of you to think I'm a male watching it on a shit stream. I'm female, paid my

  5. Road Dogg came back in some capacity recently and now there's shots of Billy Gunn backstage at Mania. Years ago they did a joint shoot interview where they said some extremely negative things about Triple H. Obviously, he has the power for them to never appear in WWE again or even be treated well and invited backstage at the biggest show of the year. But they were. Do we know if apologies were ever offered or if they're back on good terms? Or does Trips just not really hold grudges?

Road Dogg found religion so I imagine he apologized or whatever and was brought back. I don't think HHH or Vince took any of that VKM shite seriously anyway, think Billy said recently they were desperate to get back into WWE during that run so I imagine it's all forgotten about now after RD did a HBK.

  6. Yeah, Danson definitely steals the show...

There are loads of episodes of King of the Hill I've never seen due to only catching it on TV, not having always had Sky, and it getting shunted around the timeslots and channels. It's a great show - I'd love to get all of those at some point and work my way through.

The first five seasons are usually going rather cheap in HMV and places, generally about a tenner each. They only released the first five over here, surprised they even bothered with that don't really think there's a market for it over here hence why it was constantly shunted around Channel 4.

  7. Saturday night on Channel 4 was interesting for films

Avatar- Was erm bobbins. Beautiful to look at, but bobbins nonetheless

    Alfie (Remake)- Was utterly atrocious

Lost Days- Meandered without going through/over much other than being a (something, fogotten the word) for Kurt Cobain

That Alfie film was utter utter shite, it just seemed like an excuse to have Jude Law fart about with loads of different famous actresses, abysmal effort by all concerned, except Marisa Tomei

  8. Trailer Park Boys is good, but is pretty damn non-traditional! It took me a little while to get into it.. I generally don't like "reality" style sitcoms (a la Office) but this is probably my favourite one.

Bored to Death went a bit off the rails for me in the 3rd season anyway so I wasn't as gutted as I should have been when it was cancelled.

Do you like animated comedy as well? Archer and Ugly Americans are well worth checking out if so.

Last night I got hooked on the Fresh Prince marathon that was on TV. That show was really fucking funny. It hasn't aged too badly at all for the most part... I was having proper belly laughs, frequently.

Aye the third season wasn't up too the standards of the other two but Ted Danson in that was class, one of my favorite characters in anything. Took me years to be able too look at Ted Danson without hearing George Costanza crying out about jets and shit in my head. I'm a big fan of animated comedy aswell, all the obvious ones and I love Archer, haven't quite got caught up on season three after the Burt Reynolds episode so i'll get downloading, not even heard of Ugly Americans though so i'll look into that aswell. Don't think anything will be able too top King of the Hill in the animated comedy stakes for me though, just a fantastic heart warming show. Got most of the Fresh Prince on dvd, another great show with likeable characters, has aged well but there's so many one liners that are about random shit happening in America at the time that totally went over my head, can't help but cringe at it sometimes.

  9. 30 Rock is good, and there's loads of it so it should keep you busy for a few days.

    Modern Family also good.

I've been meaning to work my way chronologically through the whole of Malcolm in the Middle as I only ever watched it on TV. I need to actually download it first though.

Aye I keep up with 30 rock it's excellent, Alec Baldwin is fantastic, don't usually get that kind of character in many sitcoms. I watched Malcolm in the Middle the same way but I find the mother too annoying to ever give it a proper viewing. I hear good things about Modern Family so might give that a go, is Trailer Park Boys much cop? Have never seen that. I like some weird shows, absolute love My Name is Earl. One of my favorite shows ever, was gutted when it was cancelled. Bored to Death was another I couldn't believe they canceled, I really enjoy some non traditional sitcoms.

  10. I'm looking for a good new comedy to watch but i'm pretty stumped, Iv'e worked my way through the classics like Frasier, Cheers, Arrested, Seinfeld etc etc and currently keep up with the likes of Big Bang and HIMYM, Eastbound and IASIP, was just wondering if anyone had any good recommendations for something I might have overlooked? I'm pretty open and need something to watch now i'm off for Easter.

  11. Power Slam is for people with a critical eye. If you just want to read how great or amazing a certain wrestler or show is (when they aren't) then read some other mag I guess.

I always wondered if Vince read PS because in the late 90's I noticed that when PS critised a westler then a few weeks later they stopped being pushed. Coincidence?

Nope your spot on mate, it's well known Vince was rarely seen without Powerslam in his hand backstage during the boom period. It's the only reason Ahemd Johnson isn't the one taking on John Cena tomorrow.

  12. Just incase i'll spoiler tag this question as it's about a potential spoiler in the Wrestlemania Thread so don't read if you don't go in there.

<-- click on 'spoiler' to show/hide the spoiler

I saw the first post that said someone had been spotted in Miami, I have a pretty good idea who it is but don't want it spelling out if I can avoid it, I assmue people are now talking about it spoiler free? If so i'll stay out of there until Mania. I only ask because I would like to keep up with the pre-Mania chat if they're not.

    [close spoiler]

    ");document.close();

Aye it's being discussed now, it's all just conjecture at this stage though. Nothing confirmed.

  13. I've tried watching a few episodes of Its Always Sunny and I don't get it. Danny de Vito aside, it feels like low grade Seinfeld if every character was played by acting powerhouse Jerry Seinfeld.

Justified I also found quite dull. They don't really follow through on the premise of a wild west style law enforcer out of time and place. I wanted Timothy Olyphant to be badass ala Bullock/Deadwood but instead his character seems mostly quite nice and reasonable.

Iv'e heard it described as Seinfeld on Steroids and I though that was pretty apt. I feel their great at portraying their characters. Dennis is fantastic, easily the most mental character and is somewhat underrated.

I think Charlie is the most mental character, I'd say Dennis was the most manipulative and Mac is the least obnoxious (although that's not saying much!).

I dunno there are moments when Dennis seems like he might actually lose it and there are definately flashes of evil with things like the D.E.N.N.I.S system and such. His reaction to two girls he was hitting on when they said they had boyfriends last season was amazing aswell.

  15. Always preferred Segal to Van Damme myself, never really drawn to JCVD's films, though the constant ads for Double Impact on old Nitro's iv'e been watching have made me curious. Speaking of Segal watched on Deadly Ground the other night, some good scenes and a surprisingly good support cast (Caine, John C. McGinley, the reacharound general guy from full metal jacket, Billy Bob Thornton) but it was just awful.
