Fly out on BA at 11am on Friday 12th from Heathrow - which is a bit of a pain considering I live about 30 minutes from Gatwick in jolly old Croydon. For the flight me and my mate Louis have got WMXX t-shirts off shopzone - hurrah!

It is prety stupid that you cant fly to New York from Gatwick, we only 15 mins away, instead we have got to go 2 hours to Heathrow, which due to an early flight means we have to stay in London, although to be fair that night in London will be amazing!

Another question. In NYC do they do that stupid thing of not adding Tax on to prices until they put it through the till, so you never know how much somthing is going to be until then, because of this in Seattle i ended up with loads of small change as i always paid with notes as there wasnt time to count out the cash! LOLAnd if they do that, how do you work out what the full price will be

TaxesThere is no value-added tax (VAT) or other similar national level tax, but every state, county, and city has the right to levy its own local tax on all purchases, including hotel and restaurant checks, airline tickets, and so on. Sales tax is usually not included in the price tags on merchandise but is added at the cash register. These taxes aren't refundable upon leaving the country. Not surprisingly, New York City has some of the highest local taxes in the country. The sales tax is 8.625%, the hotel tax is 13.25% plus $2 per room per night, and the parking garage tax, is a whopping 18.25%!
