Vamp
I personally don't for one second think that WWE tries to push masculinity and cover up the fact that wrestling has homosexual theme's. The WWE has been around since the early 80's and is a mulit-million dollar company, I really don't think Vince sits up at night wondering how to make the WWE less gay. Its World Wrestling ENTERTAINMENT if anything over the years WWE has pushed gay characters and gimmicks, BIlly and Chuck, Goldust, Mickie James during her fued with Trish. While WWE doesn't force gay sterotype in the faces of fan on a constant basis but I don't think either they hide away from pushing the homosexual button when its called for in the name of Entertainment. I do believe that its unlikely we will ever see a fully fledged gay storyline or character in the future due to WWE being PG and more family friendly. You have to think 1 in I believe 3 men are statistically meant to be homosexual, it makes you wonder with a male roster the size WWE has which ones are gay?..... Â No, it just vilifies it or ridicules it. And what the hell does the company being PG or family friendly have to do with them have a fully fledged gay characters? Are all homosexuals PG-14 now? I must have missed that memo. Also the type of homophobia being discussed isn't necessarily a conscious one.
Stormy Weathers
if anything over the years WWE has pushed gay characters and gimmicks, BIlly and Chuck, Goldust, . Â To be fair though both Billy and Chuck and Goldust were pretty grotesque representations of homosexuals, I mean they had Billy & Chuck say they weren't gay at the end of that angle and goldust was some kind of freak. Â I don't know of a wrestler who's character was openly gay without it being turned into some exploitative story line played for laughs or to get heat.......The wrestling industry has a chip on it's shoulder about being portrayed as a homosexual past time that's why everything is so damn macho and historically any wrestler who minced down to the ring or was a bit fruity or a dandy was a heel. Â Hell if you want to see just how homophobic the industry still is just watch JCW which is all "faggot this and faggot that" and the angry young white men that make up 70% of wrestling fans just lap that shit up........Just the nature of the beast man
Vamp
If anything the Billy and Chuck angle was WWE at its worst in terms of gay representation. The fans were up for the wedding, they were getting positive mainstream attention and they decided to have it be an act all along. Â Although it did result in one of the best Eric Bischoff GM moments. Swings and roundabouts.

handspants
How exactly do you let the audience know a character is gay without blatantly portraying them as so? Â Just have them go about their business, and every so often just blurt out 'I'm gay me!'? Â Â Wrestling isn't exactly the subtlest of things.
