It's always a contentious award and I think it will probably be changed to something else next year.

alexander Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 There's a distinction made about what counts as having made your debut, and what doesn't. If you first turn up in WWE/TNA/ROH/A major Japanese group/somewhere else that enough people on this board pay attention to for it to matter, then you're making your debut there. If your first match is anywhere else, a smaller indy like IWA:MS like Tyler (Or wherever he actually first turned up, I don't know) or FCW/OVW like all the WWE debut guys, then it shall be judged that you've never actually wrestled, and you don't get aknowledged as a wrestler until you enter the level mentioned above. That's why the award really does need changing. Some of the people who've won it in the past make it look more than faintly ridiculous. As a few people have said, "Breakthrough Star Of The Year" would be less fussy.
