It's good to see some Silicon Valley love, it's everything i could want from a "nerd" based comedy and Mike Judge is always ace.

I've started watching the X-Files from the very start, not watched it properly and only ever caught the odd episode as a kid. I thought it'd age really badly but i'm loving it, even the episodes that many seem to think were shit (except Space, that's fucking garbage). Tooms has to be one of the best baddies ever, shame he only lasted two epsiodes.

I see the history channel are showing X Files at the moment, ive never watched it and want to give it a go. They have nearly finished season 1 and starting on season 2 soon - Can I dive in now or is it the sort of show you really need to have been watching from the start?

Wait, the history channel are showing X Files? What the fuck?

Well History 2 yeah. From what ive seen the majority of their programming is alien related!

  3. So Dark Souls eh? (Way late to that particular party) but anyway. Playing today and managed to get past the Demon on the bridge in undead burg, but then as I was making my way to the boar, some guy jumped into my game and killed me, wtf? I was doing so well too after all that. Can people just dive in and out? How do I stop this?I also love the boss battles, its very Shadow of The Colossus in my opinion. Feels absolutely amazing when you down one.
Is this Dark Souls 1 or 2?Ive had 1 on my hard drive for ages from PS Plus but havent tried it yet, is it worth looking at?
  4. Whats the general consensus on David Icke? Im sure he must be mentioned in this thread quite a bit, but what do people really think of him?

I watched about half an hour of a show he did at the Oxford Union a few years ago which is on Netflix. I found the whole thing quite fascinating to be honest.

It was quite a lot to take in but I will try to explain what I think he said, I could have got things a bit confused -

He spent the first half an hour talking about how very few people control everything (a "World Government") and use local goverments and politicians as puppets. We live in a perfect dictatorship because we believe we are free, but in reality our everyday lives are controlled, and we carry on blissfully unaware.

This one "World government" will train an army, which it will then use the army to force other countries into submitting to its rules

Labour & the Conservatives are controlled by the same people, so it doesnt matter who we vote for, as the same decisions are made eventually regardless

The whole population will be microchipped soon - dont think he said why

In the future there will be one world currency, which is completely electronic. This means that the powers at be can basically decide if you eat or not, if they dont give you access to your money, you cant buy anything.

Some of his points sounded whacky, but it wouldnt surprise me if some of the things he said were true (or partly true)

I just wondered if people here thought he was a mental conspiracy theorist, or mis understood martyr?

I should also point out that at the start of this programme there was an interview with someone at the show who said "he lost the crowd a bit when he talked about the world being a hologram", so I think the talk must get a lot whackier

  5. Ive just added you Cinnanexus

If any one else wants to increase their friends add me - tlcohmy44

My Springfield is a bit of a shambles at the moment, im just saving up to get more space!

  6. Why is the Invasion angle always looked down on? I wasn't watching wrestling at the time, I think the last PPV I saw at that time was WM16. But I can imagine that at the time the thought of having ECW vs WWF with WCW thrown in somewhere would have been a wrestling fans wet dream. Was that the problem - expectations really high? Or did they really just fuck it up?

  7. What do you think WWE would do if Brock got a bit over excited and injured / knocked out Taker at Mania? Do they have some sort of "plan b" should a disaster happen in a big match?

Edit - started off as a random thought but turned into a question, apologies

  8. I'm super into the animated DCU movies at the moment, slowly collecting them on Blu-ray. As has been said they really give Marvel movies a run for their money.

Watched Superman/Batman Public Enemies for the second time last night. That one doesn't seem to get nearly enough love. Its a cracking adaptation and plays out like a buddy cop action movie. Best of all it's got the big guns as the voice actors. Kevin Conroy as Batman, Tim Daly as Superman and Clancy Brown as Luthor.

The Blu-ray has 4 episodes of the Justice League Unlimited TV show which is just awesome, A 55 minute round table discussion with producer Bruce Timm, Kevin Conroy, casting director Andrea Romano, and DC's Senior Vice President of Creative Affairs, Greg Noveck and a 20 minute doc about adapting the book for the movie. There's also a ton of previews and 2 episodes of the Superman animated series.

    Another tremendous package from Warner.

So far I've got this lot,

Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker Blu-ray

    Batman: Gotham Knight Blu-ray

Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman Blu-ray

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1 Blu-ray

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2 Blu-ray

Batman: Under the Red Hood Blu-ray

    Batman: Year One Blu-ray

    Green Lantern: Emerald Knights Blu-ray

Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox Blu-ray

Justice League: The New Frontier Blu-ray

    Justice League: War Blu-ray

    Superman/Batman: Public Enemies Blu-ray

    Superman: Unbound Blu-ray

Watchmen: Tales of the Black Freighter & Under the Hood Blu-ray

Watchmen: The Complete Motion Comic Blu-ray

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm DVD (This needs a BD asap, as does the whole Batman: The Animated Series)

I've also seen a few rentals which I haven't got round to buying yet.

    Superman/Batman: Apocalypse

    All-Star Superman

    Justice League: Doom

Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths Blu-ray

Wasn't so into Apocalypse and All-Star but Doom and Crisis on Two Earths were well worth a watch.

Have any of you seen The Dark Knight Returns deluxe edition? How's it different to parts 1 & 2 individually? I'll probably get it seeing as I LOVE parts 1 & 2 and its got a feature length doc about Frank Miller on the disc but it would be cool if the film it self was a different cut.

Not yet watched JL: The New Frontier. Probably will crack on with that later tonight.

If anyones interested the new Lovefilm Instant -Amazon Prime - has got a tonne of these available on demand "for free"

  9. Im really enjoying reading this thread, its cool to see how many layers there are in the world of superheroes, much like wrestling to some degree.

Anyway I would love to get in to some of the animated films mentioned in this thread, and really want to start getting into comics. Can someone please let me know where a good starting place would be? I have no experience with either so baby steps would be much appreciated.

  10. Someone rescue this thread please

From what? The discussion about deathmatch wrestling?
The same old arguments from the same old people are getting very tiresome. Its turned into people posting bollocks just to get other people to post more bollocks. This thread thrives when its discussion about a recent deathmatch show and looking at reviews etc, not defending it to people who in reality couldnt care less about it anyway.
I don't think you have any idea what you're talking about, to be honest, but ok.This is a thread about deathmatch wrestling. People are discussing whether it's art and why it could be considered as such. I've actually found this far more interesting than looking at people with hideous injuries even though Richie's reviews are really well put together and written. There have been several great debates in this thread, actually, all of them well reasoned and intelligently debated. No-one is baiting anyone here and I don't recall this debate cropping up in this thread before. I'm interested in people's views on the scene, as I think many others here are, rather than the content of the scene, so your last simple point is completely wrong.I think what I'm basically trying to say is why don't you just come back when the nice man posts some pictures for you to look at again?
I agree that the art side of things was a better read then most of the arguments here, but even then there were people posting nonsense for whatever reason. The reason I originally posted about rescuing the thread is because it was just getting stupid. Talking about deathmatches in galleries? You think that was a serious post and worthy of further discussion?Like Richie said the whole argument for and against is futile, and after 48 pages its irrelevant to be honest. We all know each others reasoning. There are some arguments worth reading (like the art one) but they always descend into shit. This debate may have been reasoned and intelligently debated, but without out a doubt that is the exception rather then the norm. And the very first thing is this thread from Richie is -

    First thing
