  1. Live Aid: Rockin' All Over the World (2005)

The Beeb repeated this over the past two nights and it's now up on the Player.  I can't remember if I watched it when it first aired but this is an excellent insight into what led to and was involved in putting on Live Aid.  It's three hours, so is a long watch, although if you are interested in the subject matter or just want to learn about what was a once in a lifetime event it's well worth it.  Tons of interviews from performers as well as those involved on putting the event on, some great stories (the likes of McCartney and Robert Plant don't come out of it well, while someone like David Bowie, who you may thinks has every right to have an ego has nothing of the sort, and Alison Moyet has a really funny tale about him) and it's pretty incredible that not only they pulled the event off but looking back at the footage with all the people there.

  2. Sebastian back to his usual money wasting self today, an overall loss of £42 after encouraging his team to splurge £180 on some silver box.  Fortunately for him Charles Hanson had an absolute mare and did even worse (total loss of £95).  The fool then has the gall to start jumping around and celebrating the "win" like it was something to be proud of!  Raskin-Sharp on hosting duties again.

Is Kairi not sticking around then? Shame. Mind you I suppose you cant really blame her but I always thought they could have got more from her than they have. She was a really good babyface you could get sympathy on I thought.

The Observer reported the other week that she's moving back to Japan to be with her new husband.  There was some talk about her only wrestling for another year and then she'll retire.

I'm definitely not Joel Allen! (In fact I'm not even sure who that is!) Luckily I can prove who I am.....although it's very boring!!

I completely missed the original post by Fire Convoy, but I can 100% clarify that the Reverend is most definitely not Joel Allen!

  5. They showed Hard Times (1975) with Charles Bronson last night.  I literally only found out a matter of minutes before it started otherwise I would've posted in this thread.  Ever since someone (I forget who) mentioned Talking Pictures aired 'The Driver' a few weeks back I've been trying to keep more of an eye on the schedule hoping that they'll repeat it.

I went on a Walter Hill trip a few months back and this, along with The Driver, were the two films that I couldn't source.  Charles Bronson plays a drifter called Chaney who ends up aligning himself with gambler/hustler Speed, played by James Coburn, who becomes his promoter in organizing bare knuckle street fights.  I won't say any more on the plot as to avoid spoilers but this was a fantastic film, while the two main leads were tremendous, as was Strother Martin and like a lot of Walter Hill films there is a quality soundtrack.  Absolutely worth watching next time it gets an airing.

Some of the most famous contestants were not main characters on the show itself.

For example, given his current "fame", you would have thought that Schuab would have been a major part of TUF 10, but he wasn't. I can't remember anything that the dopey fucker actually did on the show itself. Kimbo, McSweeney, Nelson, Meathead, and the chubby lad that Rampage bullied were all more memorable.

    Titties, always Titties.

Going back to Season Six the thing I remember about Richie Hightower is when one Matt Serra's guys gets injured and they have to choose a replacement to fight Mac Danzig.  One by one Dana brings Serra's guys into the room.  Hightower, who had been giving it large, when given the option to come back into the tournament, fight Mac Danzig and potentially make the final, ums and arrs his way around the question and comes up with every excuse possible not to fight while claiming he does want it.  The moment he leaves the room Dana's like "he wants no part of Mac Danzig," while Serra and Ray Longo laugh at what they've just witnessed.

  8. I use Tweetdeck for my Twittering and this came up about twenty minutes ago in my 'Activity' column:  All sorts of fun to be had perusing that accounts tweets and being shocked at how old everyone looks.

  9. Talking of the Welsh Open it reminded me of Willie's commentary on O'Sullivan's 147 in the final frame of the final against Ding Junhui.  O'Sullivan produced one of the greatest shots I've ever seen on the 15th red and you can hear the joy and childlike enthusiasm as Willie calls it.  From about 7:30 onwards.

  10. It didn't sound good after yesterday's news of him being put in an induced coma, still awful to see that he's now passed away.  Instantly recognisable for anyone who was around in the 1980s boom period and one of the few BBC Snooker commentator's who I enjoyed listening to and who never turned into a parody (Virgo, Taylor).

    RIP "Mr Maximum"

Me & a friend have been working through all WCW ppvs from 1990 onwards, once we get to 95 we plan on watching Nitros & Thunder when it starts, could anyone fill me in on what other shows in the week that we’re tv shows? Some of the C shows always seem to come up in chats as having some corkers on from time to time. Cheers

Outside of Nitro and Thunder you have:

WCW Saturday Night - that show finishes in April 2000

WCW Worldwide Wrestling - continues to the end of the company.  They stopped taping in Orlando in June 1998, and towards the end of that year the show the show became a recap show with only a couple of exclusive matches.

WCW Pro Wrestling - finishes at some point in 1998.  Similarly to Worldwide

WCW Main Event - final show was 3 January 1998.  The show usually had one exclusive "main event" match, the rest of the show was recapping or repeating stuff that aired on the other shows

WCW Prime - ran from 6 February 1995 to October 1996.  A lot of the matches that aired were repeats from what had previously been shown on Worldwide or Pro, there was usually one "exclusive" (there is a Sabu WCW match that was exclusive to Prime same with a match for the Yeti)

Wrong Side Of The Tracks is difficult if you do it the way it tells you to, but the beauty of San Andreas was that there's so many ways to do anything and all the game worries about is that you meet the objective. I know some people who'd already got a sniper rifle (despite Ammunation not being open yet) just sniped the train driver in the cab so the train stopped.

I eventually did it by speeding off on the bike without Smoke, going up to a bridge over the tracks, jumping off on to the top of the train, and shooting the targets from behind like a coward.

Pier 69 was the mission, outside the first Zero one, that I always used to have trouble with.  It was where you had to sniper T-Bone's goons before they took out all of Wu Zi's men from the building opposite.  Always struggled with it on the PS2 ,killing them all in time, until finding out by accident that you can actually get up on the roof with them (leap off the roof of the building you're on, cross the road and then enter through a side door and you're up top).  From there it was straightforward.

The killing of Ryder to end that could also be tricky if you were to run out of ammo on the drive by, much easier way I found was to not swim after him and just sniper the boat he gets into from the pier.  I think you fire six or seven shots at the boat while Ryder's swimming towards it to damage it almost enough, then when he gets in it, sniper it again and it explodes.

I was never a huge gamer but I adored San Andreas.

It's a shame no decent unedited footage exists. The dubs on the WWE network just kill it, some of the best crowd reactions are during the entrances.

The footage is definitely out there just a case of tracking it down.  I had a complete run of ECW PPVs, from the original US broadcasts in excellent quality, most with pre-shows, all with original music, no over dubbing etc. which I sold to someone on this board last year when I was downsizing my collection.  The whole trading scene is pretty much dead though so stuff isn't as easy to locate as say it was a decade ago.  Your best bet would be getting on a torrent site if you can.
