It's this sort of flatulent banter that almost makes me want England to win.

Given that I have seen Scottish people being referred to as "porridge wogs" on here, I think crumpet eaters is pretty lenient by comparison.

  2. Absolutely cracking match that. Ran to the pub next door to watch the second half of extra time and penalties (didn't want the potential penalties spoiled by cheers as my iplayer stream is a couple of minutes delayed), and saw some spectacular scenes ranging from an 80+ year old man walk up to the TV, scream and brandish a dramatic middle finger, to a woman run around the pub with an Italian tricolour to being hugged by strangers, to being asked to confirm that I'm definitely supporting Denmark tomorrow. Got back to the flat in time to watch the penalties again, along with post-game analysis on iPlayer, just to be annoyed that the pundits seem to think they've already automatically beaten the Danes tomorrow. I certainly hope that Denmark do the business tomorrow and get England well and truly humbled.

Speaking of the Danes, truly loved this from Kasper the friendly Ghoalkeeper.

Denmark tomorrow then and failing that, here's hoping the Azzurri give the crumpet eaters a painful, deflating trip back to Earth. Forza!

  3. I'm shite at anything technology related so forgive the question, but does this mean I can get the PS5 PSPlus games and download them on PS4? Don't fancy either of the ones available to me this month but I would definitely like to play A Plague's Tale, which isn't showing as it's the PS5 game (although also out on PS4). Apologies if it's a daft question.

  4. Having lived in both Italy and Spain over the last 2 years, I'm agonised over this Spain - Italy but I suspect I'm going to have to lean Italy given I have a tenner on them for 9/1 to win the whole tournament! Either way, I hope whoever wins absolutely smashes England, and, so it doesn't get that far, really hoping Ukraine smash the English tomorrow and get them back in their box. I really hate the constant arrogance about how England are portrayed, even going back to the previous tie when Sweden and Ukraine were playing "for the right to play England". Absolutely fuck off with that sort of entitlement. Yes, I'm a Scotland fan, but in terms of population we're one of the wee teams but I remember Iceland in 2016 and there's nothing more delicious than watching the big bully walk into the playground and act the big man only for the little man he hits to send him packing. I think I, and everybody who isn't English, is hoping Ukraine can do similar tomorrow.

     bellend dances,

Perfect term for it. I've always hated seeing this kind of celebration. Smacks of complete disrespect to the opposition and makes any team doing it look like annoying wee fannies.

Although, those last 2 words in my previous sentence probably make it more than obvious who I'll be supporting today in the first game. On the pitch, I'm expecting a drab, dull, lifeless affair like all of England's matches have been so far but as long as it's England going home, I'm not too bothered.

  6. What a brilliant watch that game was. Full credit to Simon for recovering from that ridiculous own goal to go on to give a solid performance for the rest of the game, including making some crucial saves. For a team that couldn't score, Spain have now scored 10 in the last 2 games.

Scotland would have pissed them, obviously.

  7. Got the Platinum on the remaster of Far Cry 3 on PS4. I love that game, the main story is fantastic and the game itself is a ton of fun whether you're sneakily perched on a hill taking down an outpost with a sniper rifle, hunting ferocious animals in the jungle or simply chilling out with a beer playing poker in a dive bar, Far Cry 3 is all-round fantastic.

Special mention to Vaas Montenegro, who must be one of the greatest characters in gaming. The guy who voiced him hit it out of the park with this one - totally unhinged, mesmerizing performance. I remember playing Far Cry 4 on PS3 which, while very fun, seemed like it was for the most part just Far Cry 3 only in the Himalayas. I'll probably pick it up at some point and play it again and I've never played 5 before so I'll need to get on that too.

"Did I ever tell you the definition....of insanity?"

  8. Well done to Hungary. I think most people expected that they wouldn't get a single point from this group but in the end France and Germany couldn't beat them and it was only thanks to a late flurry from Portugal (and a somewhat deceiving scoreline) that they didn't remain unbeaten. They were going through tonight until the 84th minute or so and gave the Germans quite the scare. Their matches in Budapest also provided a cracking atmosphere.

They might be out but their heads should be held high. Some performance that!

  9. Absolutely loved that show and it got me through that brutal *no exercise, no going outside, no fresh air allowed* 10 week lockdown in Spain. Kept me sane at some points.

However I sincerely hope you watched the original Spanish version with English subtitles because "Money Heist" is such a shit name and much different from the translation of the original "La Casa De Papel" (The house of paper). I can only imagine that so much would be lost in an English dubbing.

  10. I really wish Leigh Griffiths had got himself in a decent shape. He's a natural finisher when at his best (and we all know what his free kicks can do). But he wasn't  and he's the perfect guy to bring on when chasing a goal.

It's not often I find myself agreeing with Devon but he's bang on when he says we have all the makings of a decent team but sorely lacking a consistent goal scorer up front. Where that player comes from, I have no idea. Gilmour was definitely a big miss as Armstrong didn't bring much at all and I'm sure he would have brought more. Great midfield, amazing to have Tierney and Robertson in the same team but our problem is obviously that we have a blunt edge. I don't know the updated stats but before a ball was kicked tonight we were actually the team with the most shots on goal in this group. Tonight was our first and only goal.

    Cazzo.

  11. That's Billy Gilmour out of tomorrow after testing positive for Covid. For. Fuck's. Sake.

After earning almost universal plaudits (with the exception of the ITV commentary team apparently) for his performance against England, that's a huge blow on the eve of one of our biggest games for 20 plus years. Classic Scotland. Hopefully there's no more to come.

As second sides go, I'd like to see Spain do well and after living out there I feel I can justifiably claim them as a respectably good second team to have a soft spot for. Even though I technically live in Italy now, it's Sardinia so I have no sense of attachment to the Azzurri so not too fussed what they do.

After watching the first 2 games of each team in this tournament, I'm going to shamelessly reverse this statement and do the classic Italian thing of changing my allegiance.

  13. Yasssssssssssssssssssssssss! So, so proud of my team there, especially when viewed in the context of the first result. We beat Croatia at Hampden and we have a great chance of going through! Absolutely buzzing. To a man we were brilliant.

Before all the English condescension starts - 5 million against 65 million. We were excellent and there's not been many times for most of my life that I've been able to say that as a Scotland supporter. Alba Gu Brath!

  14. Now I'm hoping that one of the Scotland players will put the water and Coke under the table in their press conference and leave the beer.

  15. Neither the commentators nor the folk in the studio mentioned David Marshall for fault for that second goal and instead all seemed to pile on Jack Hendry. Yes, it was naïve as fuck for him to take a shot for 35 yards and nothing but bodies in front of him but the broadcasts I was watching didn't seem to question what the hell David Marshall was doing almost at the centre circle for seemingly no reason. No need to be up there at all. I suspect that given the (rightful) praise he's had since becoming the (rightful) Saint David of Belgrade, the commentary teams were loathe to criticise him for being hopelessly and needlessly out of position, but he was definitely at fault for that one I reckon. Had he stayed on his line, nothing comes of it.

  16. Now that the final whistle has blown:

    Bollocks.

Happy just to be there above all but that was disappointing. We were desperately unlucky and couldn't seem to get the right bounce of the ball while every deflection off the Czechs seemed to land well for them. That second goal though.....Jeeeeeeeesus. Especially coming shortly after we hit the bar. Not entirely sure what the hell Marshall was doing so far off his line. Depressingly, this was realistically the match we had to take something from to have a chance of going through. Despite all this, again, I'm happy just to be here but we got it somewhat wrong today.

    In conclusion; bollocks.

  17. Aware that for two posts in a row I've now used "Twitter" as a source but I've read that the Danish coverage cut away to only aerial shots as soon as it transpired that what was transpiring was more than your typical football injury.

In my head, I'm rationalising it as it was the UEFA feed which was choosing where the cameras were pointed but if the BBC did have power to cut away, they should definitely have done it sooner. As soon as the first shot of Eriksen getting the CPR, they should have gone straight back to studio or to crowd/aerial shots or whatever.

Really though, I don't think it's the time to be throwing blame about this stuff right now, when really I can't feel any anger or nuance when I'm so relieved that the man is still alive. It reminded me too much of the footage of Piermario Morosini and Patrick Ekeng. Honestly thought that Christian Erikson died today but he scored the most important winner imaginable. That should be the story right now.

  18. "

"UPDATE: Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen was conscious and raised his hand when he was carried from the field"

From a news company called BNO on Twitter so take from that what you will. Also saw a photo of him sitting up looking at the camera with his hand on his head so fingers crossed all of this trickling information is legit and he's had a near miss.

Actually feel a bit shaken after watching that.
