That just shows the entitlement of wrestling fans. The “Broken” stuff was developed in TNA. If the Hardys funding a few episodes of Impact, that doesn’t gain them any right—they were still under contract of TNA at the time. TNA are just protecting their business interests because that’s what they are: a business, and their product is a TV show. The gimmicks portrayed by the Hardys were part of that product.

TNA don’t owe the Hardys anything. If the Hardys paid for a couple of episodes of Impact out of their own pocket then that was their prerogative. What employer wouldn’t let an employee pay for something that’s going to benefit them? If I told my boss, “I’m going to pay for this project” then of course their eyes are going to light up and quickly say “OK!”.

TNA aren’t in the wrong here. The Hardys tried to use intellectual property of one company in another. It’s like an actor developing a character in a TV show, funding a couple of episodes of that show, and then trying to use the same character on another show for another studio. I say “like”, but that’s the exact scenario here. Do you think Warner Bros. would go, “Oh, well. We owe the fans for them to take that character to another show. Imagine the goodwill it will buy us!”

This isn't a case of right and wrong, it's about picking your battles and, as you say, running a business. TNA need to rebuild their fanbase and get a positive buzz going. That should be their biggest priority. They aren't going to attract casual fans at this stage so they need to target the "hardcore" fan, which unfortunately is the type of fan who takes this sort of shit personally. You can call it entitlement, or whatever, but it's still a reality.

They've alienated a lot of potential customers, and seriously hurt their "reboot", all to protect intellectual property that they can't use anyway. It's a massive own goal however you look at it.

Anthem aren't from the wrestling industry. They are a corporation that owns a wrestling promotion. The law allows them to do this so they exercise it according to business protocol. Emotional wrestling things like friendship, good will, pettiness or bitterness don't mean anything to them. It's not out of immorality or spite, its not "PR" as you put, it's ruthless and at times down right savage bureaucracy.

Interesting thread on Reddit. Regarding IP laws in wrasslin'.

Intesresting read and it basically confirms what some of us know. Legally, Anthem hold all the cards. A fact the others parties obviously know, otherwise ROH would not have junked the Broken Gimmick on the PPV. Dish Network dropping the event at the 11th hour was unfortunate and will reflect badly on Anthem/Impact in the court of public opinion- a phrase I used in my previous post and a phrase used in this blog post by Jason Powell.

And this is Jason Powell, who more than some of the others, was fair to TNA, barren years, stuff ups and all.

I genuinely think this 'bad guy and spoiler of pro wrestling' role Anthem have been cast as over the past day or so will reflect negatively on the coverage Impact shows and events receive going forward, even if (as spoilers suggest) the product gets better in this period of moving the chess pieces.

It seems whatever the name, the good on-screen is offset by something off-screen that clouds everything. Last year, it was the best, most consistently written product since 2012, in my view, that many can't recall due to the behind the scenes stuff.

And the next 4-5 weeks of what could be better television than Thursday will be likely ignored or subject to negative comments about the company. If you see a door with a dodgy lock and you respond by simply painting it a different colour, the lock is still dodgy.

Where was the f**k LU blog when they tried to get the Expedition of Gold stuff pulled over a referee?

Wheres the fuck AAA blog with what they are doing to Pentagon/Fenix/Daga? (trademarking every name they come up with and threatening every indy they work)

WHere was the fuck WWE with the whole Rhodes thing?

Its because its TNA and Reby stupidly mouthing off on social media. Legally TNA hold all the cards as you say. Wrestling is a carny and petty business. I don't think Anthem care.

They could have fired Jeff Hardy there and then after Victory Road 11 and they stuck by him.

No they didnt. They sent him out in no condition to perform. You honestly think that decision was made with the wrestlers wellbeing at heart and not because they were a mark for him and didnt want him leaving?

No I know, they couldn't afford to lose him, thats why they kept him, they could afford it he'd have been gone.

Read some reviews that last nights impact was the worst episode of a televised wrestling show ever. Anyone watch it yet? I am morbidly curious now.

Csonka of 411 once again with his bullshit. It wasn't bad, main event was good. Josh is REALLY pissing people off its an angle to write him off as he is leaving the commentary table. Wasn't a home run but it wasn't as bad as Csonka or Voices of Wrestling make out.

Thought as much, did sound a bit like hyperbole especially compared to WW-ECW. I will leave it for a bit and see how they get on, I hope they succeed. Seems a bit weird to write off a commentator though.

EC3 is turning heel (we saw the start of it last night) Josh maybe a part of it. Its like they're not allowed to set the scene without people complaining.

am I right in thinking the name is now definitely Impact Wrestling?

That press release about Spike UK refers to it showing both "IMPACT Wrestling" and "TNA pay-per-views", which suggests that TNA is still the name of the promotion and Impact Wrestling the name of the weekly show.

Don West shills like he's selling meat out of a van at a market

    Great, isn't it?

Well the old stuff is TNA. But the name of the promotion now is Impact Wrestling. There is no trace of 'TNA' anywhere.

  7. Meltzer says on Observer Radio that Bruce Pritchard is coming in as himself, as the numbers for his podcast are so high they think it'll help the ratings. Some kind of anti-TNA gimmick.

Also, something involving Konnan and LAX - and for some reason, Matt bloody Morgan.

Heres the thing with Morgan, he should have been World Champion at the time, ok a bit late now but still worth bringing him in.

One problem that may upset some is the press release states "UK & Republic of Ireland".  Spike isnt on the EPG in the Republic of Ireland.  You have to get it through the "add channels" option on satellite.  Its not available on cable as far as i know...

Will be on My5 on demand, something they did not have with Challenge.

TNA was on Challenge's on demand/catch-up service.  At least it was on Sky.

Yeah it was, My5 is on Virgin, Amazon, Roku, Chromecast (?), Sky, Talk Talk, BT TV, Freeview, Free Sat, YouView

  9. Fair fucks to them, that's a good deal.

I don't watch the show, are they still referring to it as TNA on-screen or has that all been dropped now? Last time I saw it the show was Impact Wrestling but the titles were still TNA world championship, X-Division championship etc.

Tapings start tonight, we'll know more.
