  1. DH Smiths been wearing a cowboy hat at autograph signings all week. Have I missed something or is he doing it for a laugh? Is he doing a cowboy gimmick now?

Lets hope not wrestling has had far too many fake cow boys

Well, he is from Calgary - hope of the Calgary Stampede!

  2. Does anyone know if the Instant Replay Debate took place as advertised at WrestleMania VI?

I remember it being pushed in the run up to Mania VI but it never aired on the Sky Movies version of WM VI or did it appear on the SilverVision VHS version.

  3. In Cardiff for work and just picked up Orig Williams book. Never even knew he'd written one. Looks like it could be a fairly interesting read of a brit legend. It was in Tescos so I snuck it through the self service till for a
  4. Quick couple of WCW related questions

WCW Saturday night used to be taped in a studio but later on 99-00 it seemed to be in an arena although looking at dates etc it doesnt look like it was taped pre nitro/ thunder. Did they actually run a show with just powerplant guys and jobbers essentially that people paid to go see or were they comps?

I attended a WCW Saturday Night taping in Toledo, Ohio in March 1999.

It was a seperate show and featured something like 40 matches mostly featuring mid-card talent.

My memory is a bit sketchy but I do remember that the main event was Chris Jericho vs Booker T.

Also, I *think* we paid to get in.

  5. Does anyone know who was the first UK trader to get non WWF/WCW/NWA footage over from the US or Japan?

Not 100% sure but would guess either Rob Butcher, Glen Radford, Dave Wright or Mark Allsopp. Could be wrong though!

Definitely not Rob, as he got his first tapes from Dave Wright before it all went horribly wrong.

That's right. Dave did Arena Report before Suckerpunch began.

  6. Anyone know where and when does this seasons Ultimate Fighter air in the UK?

Sky Sports 2. Tuesday at 10pm.

Cheers, SKY+ series link it is then. Have I missed much?

First episode was last week. They had elimination fighhts to see who made it to the house.

Checked my Sky+ this monring abd the show was actually moved to Sky Sports 4 last night.

  8. I don't remember that specifically, but I'd guess Bigelow was just one of the many guys brought in to be victims of the Path Of Rage~. Around that time, the money he'd have wanted to go full-time might have been prohibitive for ECW or maybe he had other offers and didn't want to hang around or any number of other things. I certainly don't remember him as an ECW regular through most of 1997.

Wasn't he part of the Triple Threat in '97 w/ Douglas and Candido? Also, he had a series w/ Spike Dudley in the Summer of 1997 - actually, it prob only lasted a week - Born to be Wired to Hardcore Heaven.
  9. 2 days before Uproar, he referee'd a main event match between Iceman and Joe Legend on a WZW show in Newcastle. I think he might have also appeared on a show in Wales the night after that, too.

UCW in Newport I think. He prob refereed.
Yep, he refereed Alex Shane vs The Gangster.A pic:FoleyAlex.jpgPhoto
  10. Does anyone know if/where Drew McDonald is wrestling at the moment? I'm a huge fan, and personally think that he's still one of the best wrestlers in Britain, but the only time I've seen him this year was at Croydon I believe. I'd really like to see him wrestle again at some point, so any info would be appreciated. Also, beside the Uprising shows and FOH, are any of the FWA shows from it's beginning - mid 2004 available on tape/DVD. I have Goldrush from 2004, anything before then would be great.

This is the last match I have a record of -

EuroWres: EWA 'Austria vs Great Britain'Posted by Phil JonesBritish, and Irish, wrestlers appear in bold - European Wrestling Association - EWA 'Austria vs Great Britain', June 9, 2007, Mehrzweckhalle, Trofaiach, Austria (720 crowd) Elimination match: Chris "The BambiKiller" Raaber & Robert Ray & Michael Kovac defeated Drew McDonald & Sheamus O'Shaunessy & The Celtic Warrior (?)

However, I wouldn't surprised if he was working for Orig Williams on his ongoing shows this month in North Wales.
  11. According to Wrestlezone, Benoit has been cremated. I can't be bothered to get the link, but go on Wrestlezone.com and it says on there.

In an article in today's Edmonton Sun Chris Benoit's father Michael confirmed that Benoit's body was quietly cremated. He wouldn't comment further, stating, ""We're trying to cope. It's a difficult time and we are trying to do our best."He said that the family intended to comment on the tragedy down the line, once they have had more time to come to terms with it.

How could they ever come to terms with it?
  12. :yinyang: Anyone know how old John Kronus was when he died?

    From the Obsever website -

Statement by family of John Kronus This was written to help clear any unanswered or missled info that related to Kronus's life and passing so that any questions about Jon (our son, fiancee', brother, and uncle,) would be posted and answered correctly. Jon was a father to his nine year old son named Gage. He was 38 years old. He was 6'3" and weighed 300lbs. Blah blah blah...

6'3" my arse. He was shorter than me.
I didn't notice that! I've met both Elims and I'm sure I towered over both of them (and I'm about 5'11").EDIT: Come to think of it, I seem to tower over most indy guys...

Jon was a father to his nine year old son named Gage. He was 38 years old. He was 6'3" and weighed 300lbs. He passed away on July 18th, 2007. He was born in Everett, Massachusetts January 13, 1969. His last name is spelled Caiazzo pronunced (kih-ahtz-so).His son Gage, was his life. He talked to him everyday and saw his son as much as he could. He wished it was more. He was engaged to be married this year to his long time fiancee, Brandy, a true soul mate. He passed away peacefully in his sleep. He had an enlarged heart, known to be capable of stopping at anytime. Our family has a long history of heart problems. His untimely death came as an extreme shock to our family. We will miss the way he made us laugh, the funny things he said, the stupid things he did (lol), his famous bismarque dance, his BBQ cooking (his signture steak tips he grilled anytime of the day but his favorite time to cook was 2 a.m.), and his bubbly personality that entertained us at family gatherings. He loved being a wrestler. His athletic ability was far beyond that of a regular athlete. Up until this year he could still do a full split to the floor (ouch). When his son was born, he was motivated to continue wrestling, to provide Gage with everything he wanted. He waswell known in Massachusetts and New Hampshire for his outgoing personality as well as within the wrestling circle. His wrestling family has been a great comfort in being there for us. We realize how important Jon was to them.He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and fans. But we're happy to know that when God took him, his father was there and greeted him above. If you have any questions you can email us at moose8500@aol.com. He will be waked at Rocco Funeral Home in Everett, Massachusetts on Wednesday July 25th from 4pm to 8pm. The funeral will be Thursday July 26th at 9am. In Lieu of flowers, the familyrequest donations to assist in the burial.Jenn Caiazzo P.O. Box 408 Tilton NH, 03276.
