  1. Just finished season 3 of The Wire. Fucking A'.

Considering he started his on-screen career in The Bill, Absolutely Fabulous and bloody Family Affairs, Idris Elba's portrayal of Stringer Bell is completely compelling. Amazing, in fact. All told, across the board this is easily, far and away, the best acted show i've ever seen. It might not pack the punch of The Shield, or be as tidy as some of the more budget-ed shows like 24 and such, but it doesn't need to be. As tense and as dramatic as television could possibly ever be.

I'm hoping season 4, which I start tonight, is a bit more Bubbles-heavy but besides that i'm all good.

If he's gone, properly, i'm gonna miss Major Colvin. Well acted character.

Still, the characters of Freeman, Bunk, McNulty, Stringer Bell and Omar (in no particular order) are some of the best television acting i've ever seen. Just fantastic.

**EDIT** On a lighter note, seeing Kima suck tit will forever stick with me. It was good, too, 'cause she was tarted up. [pervert] She cleans up goooooooood... [/pervert]

  2. So, just a question, but what the fuck is Kozlov doing in The Wire?

    Fucking bizarre.

I'm halfway through season 2, and to JLM, you were right in predicting how much I would enjoy this show. I've only found one episode I held a problem with, and that was episode 1 of season 2. I understand that it is supposed to be gritty, realistic and whatnot. But, this episode nailed it so much that it was near-on unwatchable. I can understand why the actors, the crew, the writers, the director etc would derive great pleasure from this episode as it nailed their objective square on the money. The problem is, as a viewer, it was the equivalent of a consumer buying a CD, running home, listening to it and proclaiming 'This album, right, it's the closest thing to not actually listening to music without having to actually not listen to music'.

It's clearly Omar for the win though. What a character.

  3. Supremo. Closely followed by Ebb and Bombcar but, yes, Supremo.

He presents his views in a logical, reasoned but no-nonsense way. People get their knickers in a twist about him a lot, presumably because they don't have the intelligence to enter a debate with him. You seriously need to be on the ball if you're going to call him out, he knows his stuff and isn't afraid to give his two cents. Luckily, we seem to agree on most things.

I'd hate to be shown up.

  4. This thread is so much more colourful when someone gets in a tizz about how not bothered they are about being on the list. Thus proving they are a bit bothered.

I usually wait till someone takes it too seriously before voting, but as all involved seem to have realised that it is only the internet; I voted for Mab. He's getting better, don't get me wrong. But, there's distance yet to travel.

  5. Yep. I took my 13 yr old daughter to see it over Xmas (I swear to God she was having teenage stirring in her loins through most of it...thought I'd have to wait for the lights to come on at the end and peel her off the seat!). Never seen such a steaming pile of tosh in my whole life. Some stupid teenage girl moves to a new town and falls in love with this guy at school...who happens to be a vampire. And he doesn't kill her! Where's the fun in that??

    ... :(

  6. I should really go into the actual thread, but am afraid of spoilers.

I started season 1 of The Shield. It started a bit slow, and I was beginning to give up on it (I thought the blurred lines between good and bad, and the way episodes flowed together rather than being wrapped in a neat bundle was a cute idea, but made bad television). Then, somehow, it got to the point where I couldn't turn it off. That was about three weeks ago, and i'm know half way through season 5.

Never has a show been more compelling or more absorbing. Glenn Close was fantastic, but Forrest Whittakers introduction has took this show to another level. I hope we haven't seen the last of Anthony Anderson, either. The bit where he's shot Angie and got a gun to Shane's head and says 'From now on, when I say 'suck my dick' you say 'want me to lick your balls, daddy'' is possibly the most tense moment in the history of televison. Well, aside from Aceveda's rape and when Vic finds out Aceveda screwed him out of the job he wanted.

Clearly the best television show i've seen. By a mile. And a half.

  7. Has anyone watched 'Human Weapon'?It's a history channel show, surrounding all manner of martial arts. It's prsented by Jason Chambers, and Bill Duff.My question is this, in the credits they announce Bill Duff as a former 'Professional footballer and wrestler', and I always assumed they just meant collegiate/olympic wrestler. But, on one of the episodes Jason makes a joke about Bill's 'pro-wrestling days'. I tried, admittedly not very hard, to find some information but couldn't. Does anyone know how far his pro-wrestling career went? ...I'm only interested because it seems he played football in the XFL, so was wondering if there was a WWE connection there.

  8. Out of interest...what's brought all this on? I very much got the impression you was in the same boat as, ironically, a pretty hefty amount of regular posters on this board who's general interest in pro-wrestling was waning and more force of habit. I also ask because i'd consider myself in a similar place to you and not in the geographical sense.

Both are, in part, true to be honest.I used to be a nailed on WWE mark, who would watch each and every show all the time. But, generally apathy towards the product has lead me to just watch Raw and Pay Per Views. I'm not necessarily positive about what I watch on the whole, I enjoy enough to keep me coming back. But, at the root of it all i've always had an insane, all consuming passion for wrestling. In my downtime it's pretty much a cert i'll be watching wrestling, be it a past DVD or the weeks programming. I go through wrestler autobiographies like they are pamphlets, and am forever going through spots, or whatever, in my head. it's just something I feel I need to have a go at, and try and make a positive impact on......nothing to lose.
  9. I was gonna start a thread about this, but considered it'd already be a topic on here. It relates to training schools.I'm pretty much sold on the idea of training (i.e. absolutely, utterly consumed by the idea) and would like to do so once I finish university (don't really have the funds to travel atm, and I live in Leicester and don;t think there is a decent one around). I figured i'd use this time to continue hitting the gym and getting bigger, stronger and fitter.Would anyone be able to reccomend one, if not a couple, of the best ones in the country?!Whilst one close to coventry would be ideal, i'm not afraid to travel and even find somewhere to stay overnight if it means being trained to the best possible standard available (see; not a 'shitarse').Any information would be wonderful......Also, at 22 (which is what i'll be when I finish), i'm not leaving it a bit late. Am I?!

  10. having seen mtx myself a couple of times, didnt think he was that badobviously we are all different, just wondered if you had a decent reason as most people properly wontthis is horrific

(p.s i couldnt ronin on youtube)
That is totally okay dude, until recently I couldn't ronin in public bathrooms......Ronin is a synonym, right?
  11. Right.I really want to get tickets for the Raw MSG house show on the 23rd of August, as i'm in Ney York that weekend. However, in order to get them through ticket master and pick them up from the venue I have to have a credit card in my name (I haven't, only a debit card), and can't use someone else credit card as they'd refuse me the tickets on the door.Does anyone know of any other way of getting tickets, either delivered before the 18th of August or picked up on the night using a debit card?!onlineseats.com claims to deliver before the show, does anyone know if this site is reliable?Cheers, like.
