  1. Fuck Sting. Someone should just call Goldberg, go with Wrestlemania streak vs. Greatest streak in wrestling history.

Otherwise, this is the least exciting Wrestlemania line-up in years and years. There's nothing that feels like anything more than a RAW or Smackdown main event.

It doesn't exactly grab you immediately like previous years, but if anything I think it'll actually surpass initial expectations like this and be a very enjoyable show. The build up should be pretty good. If they go down the Orton vs Punk/Nexus and Cena vs Miz routes then you've already got some brilliant promos there to enjoy in the run up to their respective matches.

I expect there'll be another couple of surprises along the way as well, least of all Undertaker and Triple H's prospective returns. Not everyone will be too psyched for it but especially in Undertaker's case he's a huge part of the whole Wrestlemania mystique, so whoever he comes up against it'll be one of the most talked about aspects of the show, be it Sting, Goldberg (I'd actually like to see that happen. It won't, but it'd be fun) or whomever.

More than anything, this Wrestlemania will be about the likes of Punk, Del Rio and The Miz firmly establishing themselves as certifiable main eventers for the next five years, and I'm all for that.

  2. See, I wouldn't actually mind seeing The Chaperone. It is what it is, a family film which shouldn't be taken too seriously. It strikes me as the kind of film I could laugh at in a kind of 'its so bad its good' kind of thing, only with added Triple H. Similar to Dwayne in the Tooth Fairy. How can you not love it when someone asks him who he is, only for him to reply "I'm the Tooth Fairy. Oh yeah!" It's cheesy, yet humorously so.

    ...Or, perhaps its just me.

  3. Finally got around to watching District 9 over the weekend, and I'm a spacker for not having watched it sooner. Fantastic stuff.

Also caught The Other Guys and Jason Statham's new turn in The Mechanic. Both are a fun way to kill a couple of hours or so, nothing more and nothing less. The Mechanic in particular is clearly just a vehicle for Statham to do his thing, though he's cool as a fuck so I don't mind.

  4. Taker/HBK II for me. For the third straight year at Wrestlemania HBK produced a classic. Watching those matches live just added to the whole spectacle of what was going on.

Can't say I agree with the Rumble nominations, I thought HBK aside last year was one of the dullest Rumble's of recent history. I just felt it had more to offer in terms of playing up to the storylines around that time, and the potential for stuff like more DX tension with HBK eliminating HHH seemed to end too quickly. Also, I remember hoping for some kind of Miz/Show/Jericho interaction, alas no dice. Also, R-Truth eliminating both Big Show and Mark Henry? I'd rather have seen that "honour" go to someone else. The above is probably just me being a little pedantic about it, but I just didn't enjoy it much at all and I'd never consider it to be a MOTY candidate, especially when virtually all of the other suggestions in this thread so far were better.

  5. There must be a photo somewhere of Fearne in one of those crisp ads where she was looking very slimmed down, with trick photography or whatever? I think it was for Rivita minis or something. A few years back now, but I remember thinking she looked quite yummy at that time.

  6. The Muppets Christmas Carol

If I had to name an all-time fave film on the spot, it would be this. Magic, just absolute magic. Micheal Caine is fantastic as Scrooge, there's great sets, a great story (Which is a carbon copy of the original tale, but still) and colourful muppet appearances and great songs just make this an absolute treat. As a December child myself, pretty sure this was one of the first actual films I ever watched. I loved it then and I love it even more now as I keep picking up on things that I didn't notice before. Speaking of Xmas fun...

    It's turbo time.

Another fun Xmas film. Insanely daft, yet you can't help but love it.

  7. Finally got around to watching Get Him to the Greek. Wasn't overly impressed to be honest, but it had its good parts. P-Diddy got the most laughs out of me. It has to be said that Russel Brand's real life persona actually translates quite well to film, though I found it impossible to generate any sympathy towards his character, especially near the end, without giving too much away. A few funny moments but I actually remember enjoying Sarah Marshall a bit more the first time round.

  8. It was back in 2007, I was doing the internet dating thing and I started chatting to this amusing and friendly girl online. We met up in Crystal Palace, the midway point for us both, going to a Portuguese restaurant I'd fancied for a while. The restaurant was very quiet and she said she doesn't eat much so we only had a main course. She was far quieter and mousy in real life and I basically had to talk at her for the entire date, which thankfully lasted only 50 minutes. I was flirting, piss-taking and she seemed genuinely hurt, at total odds with our previous interactions online, and just stopped talking. I was bored but, out of politeness, asked her if she wanted to go to a pub. She said no so I walked her to the bus stop in silence, where she got on the bus with a curt goodbye and then texted me to thank me for the evening(!). Very uncomfortable. And I was still fucking hungry.

Been on a couple of dates with similar circumstances and stuff where it's just me doing the talking. Even when you try and make it about them, trying to show an interest in them, it's like they just don't want to play ball for whatever reason.

  9. My final of the 3 for 3:

    Iron man 2

Well id allready seen it, but its a total geek-fest for me, and im sure many others. I wont get into which is the better film of the two (as i really couldnt say.), but of course Mr downey Jr rocks it up in this film, as does the actor who plays Justin Hammer, as i found myself so annoyed at how just.....pathetic he is, which then made me realise hes either a great actor or actually like that in real life. I'll go with actor to be nice!

As for the geek-ish ness, of course he has the suit-in-the-brief-case like from the old cartoons, and thus i nearly jizzed in my pants, and also of course.....WAR MACHINE!!!! Also adding in a breif cameo of captain americas sheild, (and the secret ending with thors hammer!!!).

Bar that some great stuff from micky rouke as always, and otherwise some great action all round.

    8/10 deffo worth a watch/buy/rent!

Agree about the geeking out over the hammer and the shield, that was pretty cool. War Machine, cool as all of that was, didn't get nearly enough of a slice of the action for me. For instance, that little battle at the end, I thought it could've lasted a little longer. But each to their own. I also felt a lot of the action took a while to come to fruition, whereas the first film had much better pacing and in my opinion a better story to it.

  10. Got through a whole bunch of different stuff this week.

Bowling for Columbine and Fahrenheit 9/11 from Micheal Moore are both thoroughly enjoyable, regardless of the element of bias in both films. Columbine in particular has been criticized before over some of the content being staged unfavorably, such as the gun in the bank scene. 9/11 obviously features heavy Bush bashing. To be honest this is what I enjoy about a documentary though, bringing a subject like that to the screen and then the resulting discussions afterwards. Some say Moore is a visionary, some say he's a biased prick. I'll go somewhere in the middle and say I don't agree with everything he does, but I do enjoy his documentary style.

Talking of documentaries, re-watched SuperSize me again recently on youtube (Here it be if anyone wants to see it). Enjoyed it. Again, it's a bit of a radical experiment and has bias in places but overall it's good viewing with plenty of good points made. I'd like to see a similar experiment carried out with someone like Subway, which is marketed as a healthier alternative to outlets like McDonalds.

Finally caught Iron Man 2 recently, and despite some good parts I think the first one shits all over it. I love Iron Man and Downey Jr continued to bring the awesome in the film, but it just didn't live up to the hype for me. It's good, but a bit of a letdown all the same.

  11. I watched UP

I thought it was shit, I've heard so many people say it was amazing and moving but it wasn't either.

all the "sad" bits were heavy handed and didn't make sense, all the characters were horrible, it was boring and annoying at the same time.

I have no idea what all the fuss is about, I can't imagine any kids enjoying it either, extremely disappointed.

Watched it again last week having seen it at the cinema. I thought it was even better the second time. The characters weren't horrible at all. it wasn't massively moving but had a few touching moments. The story is preposterous but wonderful at the same time.

This, I absolutely loved it. Brilliant film and actually quite moving. The character I found even close to being annoying was the chubby kid, but even that didn't annoy me much. I can only think PSL's mates had ridiculously overhyped it before he watched it and thus this may have affected his opinion on the film slightly.

  12. Caught a preview screening of The Social Network . I thought it was top banana. I've already heard some people calling it the most epically brilliant film of the year, of which I have to disagree. It was great, but not something I'd consider to be an all time classic. However, there's some great acting and a good turn in particular from none other than Justin Timberlake. Jesse Eisenberg delivers the goods as Mark Zuckerberg and the rest of the cast deliver too.

I'm not one to bitch about factual correctness or anything, but from what I gather and from what I understand the real personalities portrayed in the film have said, their lives were actually nothing like that of which was depicted in the film. Not a problem for me at all though. On the contrary, I say good arrows to Mr.Fincher for taking a story like that and adding some spice to it. Enjoyable and well worth a watch.

  13. Buried starring Ryan Reynolds. Quite good I thought considering it's basically Ryan Reynolds in a box! It's a strange way to make a film but a very interesting and intriguing one as the story progresses.

I saw it last night. I had heard a lot of bad things about it - mainly from morons with criticism along the lines of "it's really boring/must have been really cheap to make". I guess because Ryan Reynolds keeps his shirt on in this one the females hated it.

I thought it was fantastic. A really interesting idea and something I haven't seen in a film before. It sort of reminded me of a one-act-play which I guess it's the movie equivalent of. Excellent stuff.

Yeah, my friend at uni basically had the same criticism, citing the potential cheapness and how it's basically just a man in a box. Admittedly, I did wonder how the pitch would go for that idea! Agree though, really interesting way of making a film and I thought Reynolds was fucking ace. I've always been a fan of his anyway, but if you're going to put one guy in a box and keep an audience interested for the whole duration he's an excellent choice. The bloke can act, and brilliantly to boot. I loved how his reactions were basically what I think we'd all be doing in that situation, like when he gets through to someone and they're like "We need to keep the situation contained" And he's rightfully like "I'm in a fucking box! Is that not fucking contained enough?!" Great stuff.

The thing about Reynolds is that he can draw in an audience to this kind of film that otherwise wouldn't have bothered checking it out. They see a Hollywood type like Reynolds in there and their interest peaks and everyone wins, because he delivers a bigger audience but also does the artistic side of it justice with a top performance.

  14. Those Eddie/Mysterio 2005 matches were terrible, and they were so freakin boring. I never want to have to sit through the Judgment Day match again especially, that was brutal. I do think that Guerrero is a bit overrated due to his death though, becuase I think the only two matches of his I love is the first JBL match and against Ric Flair from Hog Wild, but the rest I find to be a bit crap.

Well, this ought to go down a treat.

  15. Do you actually think a person like Chris Irvine/Jericho would intentionally hurt a woman

Only if she's standing too close to his car and there's security around to stop her hitting him back.

Even people backstage took the piss after he smacked that fangirl outside an arena last year. As Jerry Lawler puts it:

Vince and I were talking and Jericho walked by and he said:
