  1. Bigger than San Andreas, IV and Red Dead combined...wow.

Fucking serious? I'm super excited now. It's going to be ridiculously big.
I don't know. Maps like San Andreas are fun to explore initially, but about midway through the game that's when you really start to hit a wall of sorts, and the sheer size of the map and things like the countryside didn't help matters. Ditto IV. And I can't even speak for Red Dead because I've never played it. And it's going to be bigger than ALL of them combined? Don't get me wrong, I'm excited about it and I can't wait to get stuck into it when the time comes, but it just sounds almost too vast. I dread to think what you'll need to do in order to land the coveted 100% mark in this one and how long it'd take. It took long enough in the PS2 version. Thank heavens they didn't make you do the Unique Jumps for that one!
  2. You won't need to raid the local supermarket anymore at this rate. You're cleaning up.

Some tough games at the weekend, lots of matches in the Prem in particular that I'm struggling to call. I facy Everton to pip Sunderland but otherwise there are games like Arsenal/Fulham that are difficult to pin a marker to.

Any tips for the weekend betting slip?

  3. I'll happily do it again if there's enough interest. I'll get it going later this week, probably Sunday. Should give everyone enough time to shout up.

    Christmas avatars at the ready!

EDIT: Sod it, I'll do it in a bit.

Woohoo! For me, the Xmas season starts when it kicks off, and doesn't end until it finishes. Which sometimes runs quite far in January, because there's always ONE little sod who doesn't send a gift and poor Frankie is left chasing them for an age. Wasn't it vanhalen last year or someone?

  4. Anyone sticking on accumulators tomorrow night? I'm looking out for the following,

    Brighton,

    Cardiff,

    Hull,

    Derby,

    PSG,

    Zenit,

Schalke (Arsenal are off the boil right now and they'll struggle away in the Champs League now I think)

    Bournemouth,

    Huddersfield,

Leeds (Despite my best attempts to discourage myself from such villiany)

There looks to be a few comfortable home wins there at least. I have thought about having a flutter tonight too on West Brom Southampton. A lot of bets coming in for a 3-1 Scoreline.

  5. Cunt

That's not a very nice way to talk to HG after all the effort he's gone to doing this thread, is it?

This has been brilliant so far. I'm surprised Ashley Cole, One Direction (PICK ME HARRY!! PICK ME!!) and David Cameron haven't placed higher, or that Clegg actually placed higher than Cameron.

I see Rylan Clark from X-Factor didn't make the top spots, but I'd imagine he'll be a frontrunner for the 4th installment should HG ever wish to compile it. And I hope he does do another one, because I'd love this to become a yearly highlight. The write-up's this year with all the extra stats, tweets etc have been bloody super.

  6. Agh, should have put Emilie Sande in my list the woman is never off the TV.

Not having that. She's had a lot of coverage and has a mighty forehead, yes, but she's an absolutely incredible singer with an absolutely belting voice. Not many people can take songs like Imagine and not only nail them, but come damn close to betting the original (Yep, I went there).

If it were a person though, that Read all about it song would get a mention because that's been played repeatedly now for months. Not Em's fault IMO.

  7. Fresh meat for the betting world's grinder here.

...And I'm a complete and utter novice. I'm desperately trying to fill out a ladbrokes betting accumulator online, I've made my picks, now it's asking for a deposit. So much for only wanting to spend a princely pound. What am I doing wrong and/or why is it being such a willy?

Help me before the 6pm kick offs tonight and I'll give you some of my winnings!

  8. I've rediscovered a love for Electric Six. Fire is an absolute corker of an album and although no albums since have come close to it, Senor Smoke is fantastic to cruise along to down the A47. Bite me and Future Boys are absolute riots. I like how they try and use the cheapest possible synth gear and also the inherent silliness and downright vulgarity of their lyrics ("Are you ready for my bloody bloody?").

I imagine they don't cater for most folk's taste, but for anyone interested their touring the UK this winter and their set is basically the entire first album nearly ten years on. Smashing.

  9. Might be alone (and I hope not) but let's definitely not forget Leigh 'Keith Lemon' Francis. Unfunny cunt.

See, this is both the best and worst thing about the twatlist. On the one hand you're happpy to see names like this crop up because it makes you go "Ah, of course! He IS a big twat." But then when you've already submitted your ten twats, as have I, you're a bit dissapointed you didn't nominate the waste of oxygen yourself. I hope my #1 twat wins but I don't think she's been in the limelight enough recently to warrant it. She'll be close to the top ten though if nothing else.
  10. Recently gone back through all four Alien films. The first two are absolutely great, but the third and fourth pale in comparison. The third has way too much British people swearing. In seriousness, the cult vibe going on through it is poorly executed, and don't even get me started on the CGI. I heard that David Fincher was constantly getting messed around by the studio, but surely they could've come up with something better than this?

I actually enjoyed the fourth one. It follows in 3's footsteps in terms of shitting over the quality of the first two, but as a stand alone movie I think it works well. It's very 90's-ised but there's some good twists and turns and some cool sequences through it. You see the Aliens in a different light through some of it too, putting a new spin on the species for the first time since they first appeared.

I also watched Walking Tall again recently. I'm a sucker for The Rock and this film, despite being cliche to an insane degree, is so easily watchable it hurts. Get a six pack of Quavers, some Ice cold Coca Cola, sit back, relax.

Also, I watched Spy Hard yesterday. One of my favourites and some effortlessly clever, and more importantly funny, slapstick comedy.

  11. Re the Booking thing, I'm waiting on one judge before posting a poll thread, which is purely for a public vote and not intended to encroach on anything else going on with the other list type stuff. If people would prefer I didn't go down the poll route, thats all good. I'd propse to keep the poll open for a week or so, then get a mod to close it by a cut-off point. That'll be it as far as the Booking Comp goes apart from obviously crowning the winner.

  12. Wouldn't mind a read of that myself, Nicko. He is still fondly thought of by Cov City fans. Although I do hope Professor Huck had some help with the big words.

He speaks very highly of the Coventry fans himself. You can actually buy a different cover of him playing for Coventry. That goal against Man United was something else!

Only read through the first couple of chapters but it's an interesting read. The first chapter talks about his time as an apprentice at Lincoln City where they'd clean the boots, wash the first team players' kits and turn off the lights at the end of a shift and making his debut under Keith Alexander. Looknig forward to looking through the rest of it.
