  1. For any AEW looky-loos wondering what they should look out for on Impact in the coming weeks, I'll try to sum it up for you. I've had about 18 episodes saved up on the old Tivo box for the most part of the year but when they moved to Wednesday night on Freesports in HD and I realised I actually had that channel I thought I better catch up. I'm still 5 weeks behind, but I've basically fast forwarded through the vast majority of the previous episodes to keep up to date with what's happening. That of course should tell you that mainly, you haven't missed too much. Impact has long been a solid but unspectacular show. Funny enough their best matches probably actually came from Michael Elgin (who had a couple of barnstormers with Rich Swann) and Tessa Blanchard, both of whom are of course gone in disgrace or something. Other than that it's been quite a lot of repetitive combinations due to depleted roster (+ shitarses) infront of no crowds (insert your normal joke here). I watched nothing of the WRESTLE HOUSE stuff outside of the first episode. I just couldn't be bothered. I heard it was leading to a big (well received?) wedding angle before I even saw it.

But yeah they have 'some' good talents but not ONE big name really who you would think would be a threat in an inter-promotional war (which I don't think is happening anyway). EC3 and Eric Young seem regenerated here and have changed things up. Eddie Edwards has been a suitable maniac all year long. Ace Austin, Trey Miguel, Rich Swann and Willie Mack all have plenty of mileage in them. Callihan is Callihan. The North stuck out as a team that WOULD fit into AEW nicely is they needed to. I don't really have time for Motor City Machine Guns in 2020. It's just 10 years too late I'm afraid. Gallows and Anderson, I think, have been appalling mostly. Tommy Dreamer still turns up. There's a really fat tag team who look a laugh. Fallah Bahh is MONEY all day long. Ken Shamrock is Ken Shamrock. Moose is very entertaining in his role and the bringing back the TNA title for him was a good call.

Overall though, I can only see improvements in the show with some injection of talent being under-utilized for now on Dark. Very interested to see how this goes.....

  2. I don't think Impact has the talent to headline a Blood & Guts match and I don't think that's the way they are going. Cody, Darby, Dustin and Sting Vs Cage, Hobbs, Starks and ? sounds more likely. Sting won't have to do anything in that.

Although Omega is turning up on Impact to give them the rub the most likely scenario out of all of this is Dark goes back down to a manageable 45 minute/1 hour show for lower level guys and a lot of the others end up in Impact on the regular (like Pillman and Griff and some women) to bolster their roster, which occasional bigger name talent exchange.

I don't suppose Khan has purchased Impact/a part of it has he and it just becomes the 2nd show they were talking about?

Anyway, I can't say I was surprised by the inter-promotional announcement. They showed they were willing to elevate other companies with the NWA and as soon as Callis turned up a while back the cogs started spinning. I'm ALL IN! :)

  3. Hikaru Shida was fantastic when she first came in. Really laying it in and having great matches. Since she moved home permanently to America she's just looked like a nerd cosplaying at being a pro wrestler. Not impressed.

Zack Ryder would be better off just reverting to his 2009 persona than being bland wrestler #whatever. Just be completely over the top.

  4. The highlights of the Swamp fight on SD actually made it look like I might enjoy it. I would never have called Alexa turning up as Sister Abigail or whatever the fuck. I might watch it one day.....

They definitely should have kept her coming out in her Ann Summers gear on a PG show, sure.

Ermmmm, no. I was refering more to the glamourous dresses and beautiful hair and makeup she exibited when she debuted there. When she would just sit on the stage watching or her backstage area stuff. The Smokeshow. Not the latter stage obviously. She's not wrestling anyway.

  6. Props to WWE in making Scarlett look bang average. A gazillion times hotter in her Impact run. She's meant to be Sunny x Sable x Trish, not some goth weirdo.

Also Shotzi Blackheart giving herself the equivalent of a Misawa/Kobashi head drop from the top rope to the outside mats was not a pretty sight. Lucky girl to walk away from that....

  7. I don't have half the issues most people seem to have with the Dark Order. I think it's heading in the right direction gradually. With Stu and Uno MIA it took a hit but they quickly introduced the '10' character bestowed upon a local guy (Preston Vance) they thought had potential and gave him some wins on Dark. He's been protected from the usual minion beatdowns. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets the rub over Moxley next week either with Brodie costing him the match before the title bout. We already know the identities of two other mask guys and they can be enhanced when they return. I think I would just like to see maybe two other known names unmask at some point and then you have a reasonable stable to start having many different matches with whom I would assume would be The Elite after the feud with Jericho's lot takes a break.

My assumption is Pineapple Pete will revert back to Suge D properly and at some point defeat Jericho. I thought they'd have a rematch at the PPV for this until they announced the Stampede match. He's got some mileage in him despite this relatively quick loss.

  8. Spud is being interviewed live on WWE The Bump on Twitch right now. Sounds like all this is a work in some sort of redemption storyline for him to be interim champ or perform well enough to 'get his job back.'

I wouldn't be surprised to see Gallows and Anderson rehired in 3 months when AJ Styles comes back from the dead either.

  9. It's the worst possible re-introduction of young hipster CM Punk.

Nah this has Ali written all over it. I'm up for that. I was wondering where he was. This was the gimmick originally planned for Sami Callihan/whatever the fuck he was called in NXT for those 3 weeks he was employed right?

I hope it's AJ Styles though for the lolz.
