  1. I watched Brian Kendrick's King of Flight tournament.

Know who I don't like? Brian Kendrick. Is it just me? He's one of those ones that has the great reputation. Everything I've seen from him has been garbage. Garbage in WWE. The absolute pits in TNA. He's my pick for most overrated wrestler of the last ten years.

He isn't in the tournament thankfully.

I thought he was alright in WWE actually. It was when he got back to the indies and all he started doing was that stupid jumping kick that I really took a dislike to him.

  2. I watched Brian Kendrick's King of Flight tournament.

If you like spotfests, this is going to be right up your alley. Loads of highflying, great sequences and massive moves. If you look more more than these things in your wrestling though, you'll absolutely hate it. The Young Bucks do bring a different dimension to their own matches though.

  3. Watched the third episode of True Detective.

SPOILER - Highlight the black box to read

It's not as good as the first two, but I think that was a necessity as they focused more on the crimes this time, rather than the people investigating them. Not that they didn't focus on them of course a great deal. Cohle seemed to up the intensity a few thousand notches, and the relationship is clearly strained BIG time when they go to the church, with his attitude REALLY grating on Hart, who seems to have heard enough of his pish. But the focus on the murderer was a lot of fun too, and when they finally go and get their man, Hart's not even close to begrudging in his respect for Cohle being right, which was a nice touch.

Hart's clearly repressed anger isn't so repressed anymore, and you get the sense that the man is clearly unhinged. He looks a lot more at peace in the modern day interview and I hope we get to see what has led to that particular set of circumstances. So yeah, it was still a belting episode, and in most TV shows it'd be a highlight of the season. For True Detective's first season, it's not quite.

  4. I'd say that Bale and Lawrence are well worth their nominations for American Hustle. Would also maybe have had Jeremy Renner ahead of Jonah Hill too. I thought Hill was fun, but Renner was terrific as the goody two shoes guy.

It's going to be very strange to see Jared Leto win an Oscar. Deserved, but weird.

  5. anyone catch the first episode of True Detective? don't think it's on over here yet but it's online, looks like its gonna be some good shit.

The first episode had me absolutely captivated. Especially Rusty Cohle.

SPOILER - Highlight the black box to read

It looks like he's gonna be the main catalyst for a lot of what we're going to see.

A lot of questions coming out of it, mainly about the relationship between the two leads more than anything about the killer, although it's clear Cohle is a suspect already, and how that unfolds should be interesting. Cohle also has a lot of questions following him. How did he end up in Louisiana? What happened to his daughter exactly? What happened 10 years previous to the present day events, and who did they catch in 1995?

I've always liked Matthew McConaughey but by god, he's unreal in this. Harrelson's great too. They play off each other well, especially when Cohle starts opening up to Hart, and Hart is none too impressed by this. Also the tension between them is insane. Clearly not going to be some buddy cop story.

Not really seen enough of other promotions to make any judgment.

  7. Here's what I made of it. Stupid. Now, I can take stupid movies. But what makes this one so hard to take is that it's so close to what actually happened. How can people in general just be so fucking thick? It made me so angry to watch at times and it made it worse knowing that so much of what was going on actually happened. Credit to them for sticking to the facts so much and it might well be a story worth telling, but I don't want to hear it or see it.

  8. Worth noting the new Kris Travis set is out today. Bought it for myself and it looks damn fine.

  9. Chalk me up as a fan of The Last Exorcist. It shits over most of the recent found footage films. I think I'll have to watch the sequel this weekend.

Yeah, I've had to dig deep to find good ones. Although I seem to like Grave Encounters more than most. The second one is dire, but the first one had me on the edge of my seat for about 50 straight minutes.

Other ones worth looking out for are Home Movie and Exhibit A. The latter being a really grim movie and built around the performance of the guy in the middle of it all, which is truly one of the best I've ever seen. Disturbing. Home Movie is disturbing too, but for other reasons. Really don't wanna say much about that.

  10. I really find it difficult to want to watch The Last Exorcism II because 1) I love found footage horror an don't know how I'll take to the change and 2) As you said, it's such an under-rated movie. I think the change in perspective might make me take it as a stand alone movie easier though. I think you've pushed me to giving it a go.

The switch from found-footage to regular movie kinda makes it the Blair Witch: Book of Shadows to the original, but while it's not as good as the first one, it's totally worth watching for the completely insane ending. The original's ending was ballsy, but this is something else.

I loved the ending of the original.

I'm a fan of it because Marcus finds his redemption. It's such a great moment when he steps out there realising what's going on. I know it'd have been impossible to end on that note, but if that was the final thing you seen, it'd have been even better. The ending we get is great though.

  11. I actually expected to like The Heat, but thought it was awful. Good to see The Conjuring continue to get some good press. It's not been the worst year for horrors. Really enjoyed In Fear and You're Next too, although the latter was more down to the comedy of it.

EDIT: Meant to say that yes, The Purge is shit. Like you I thought the premise was great, if a little silly.

  12. Exceeded expectations. My own thoughts on day two.

    * Really enjoyed Hardcore Holly and D'Lo Brown. Especially Holly, who came across as ridiculously down to earth, and seemed to love being there. Brown seemed to enjoy it as well, and seemed genuinely touched by the post-match reaction he got after the Hayes match. The match they had with each other was great fun.

    * Uhaa's theme music. YASS!!!

    * Dave Rayne and Mad Man Manson are two guys who I've never truly been convinced by, but I enjoyed both immensely last night.

    * Kris Travis and Kevin Steen were both involved in two wars yesterday. Some good proper double duty from those two guys, and the idea of their respective opponents, Masters and Mastiff, going to war is also very appealing.

    * Lionheart vs. AJ Styles is must-see stuff.

    * I was like a little girl when Liger appeared, and also when he landed the Liger bomb.
