  1. He seems to have gone for the complete heel turn this time though. That smack from Tyrone has sent him over the edge and now all he cares about is himself and baby jack. He just needs to grow the 'tash back and his heel turn is complete.

I think he should start looking towards Maria for sympathy at being a single parent and then just start slipping her a length as a "fuck you" to Sally and the kids.

  2. Stape is really the most over person on Corrie right now. If they don't let him bump Kevin Webster off in revenge for that beatdown he gave him years ago, it'll be a travesty.

Big Kev should never, ever be bumped off. The guy is main event and even managed to drag Molly to a half decent storyline. "Kevin! Get back in that conservatory!" has to be line of the year.

  3. I know. Surely she'd have gotten off lightly due to the fact Tracey was shown to be an out and out liar? Again!! Seriously, she lied under oath but was let out of prison months later? And she's an awful character. Sooner she's gone the better.

The lack of Big Sexy Kevin Webster makes me sad but the way Stape has stepped up and taken up the mantle has been spectacular. I love John Stape.

  4. Finally got around to watching Shutter Island which is directed by someone who has been called Americas greatest living director Martin Scorscse and stars Leonardo Di Caprio who I think could be the best actor this generation. (A bold statement but one I stand by).

The film itself is just ok. Leo gives a great performance as per usual, as does Ben Kingsley and it is beautifully shot but I didn't really like much else. Believe it or not I called the "plot twist" almost immediately (apart from the anagram stuff) and I just found the whole movie quite boring. So much going on but nothing really happening.

Like I said I knew almost immediately that Leo was really a patient on the island (The fact that it is a psychological thriller pretty much gave it away) but I did like the very end in which he forces them to lobotomise him rather than him continue living with what he had done. "Live as a monster, or die as a good man."

Michelle Williams is just plain awful. I've never seen her give a good performance. Ever. (Never seen Brokeback Mountain.) If Seven can name 10 people who could do a better Joker than Heath Ledger then I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult to name 20 actresses that could have done a better job than Williams here. Speaking of Ledger, was this filmed before or after he died? If it was after then I suppose I could cut her some slack.

So, yeah, I didn't think much of Shutter Island but at least I can say I've seen it finally. If I had to rate it I'd give it 4/10. Not even Leo could save it. :(

  5. Feel bad for not voting for Ebb or Wandshogun despite my non-interest in wrestling and love for MMA. I voted for TheBigBoot because this is primarily a wrestling forum and his posts are always really informative, never boring and he manages to get his point across without being antagonistic to any other poster.

  6. You mention all these guys that Lewis fought and beat but has either Klitschko ever fought anyone of their pedigree either? Haye was the one calling out the Klitschko's for ages before they were even relevantly interested in fighting him. He had to go and beat Nikolai Valuev who had the other title (someone neither Klitschko ever faced) and then took on John Ruiz who's never faced either Klitschko either. In your opinion who would you of had Haye fighting last weekend? Since the Klitschko's were not available to fight who should he of took on? No ones going to enhance his reputation so he took the fight that most of the British public would be interested in and generated the most money from it.

The way I see it, Haye has been smart, he tried calling out the Klitschko's way back and it didn't work and now he's in a prime position where they have to fight him and he can get a better contract out of it for himself. Most people are saying that "he should get the best deal out there for himself" but then critisize him when the fight doesn't happen because he isn't getting a fair share of the deal. There is simply no pleasing some people who are just anti-Haye.

I also wasn't comparing him to Lewis, I'm saying he's the best heavyweight we've had SINCE Lewis, not that he's on Lewis level because Lewis is far and above better then any boxer we've had in my lifetime. Hayes the only british heavyweight boxer to even come close, yet alone win a World title belt.

The Klitschkos can only fight who is put in front of them. It's a well known fact that the heavyweight division is dire at the moment and but they're not just beating guys, they're dominating guys. Haye called them out and then backed out of fights twice. (Once due to Setanta collapsing and the other due to injury) and then struggled to beat Valuev. (I scored that fight as a draw for what it's worth.)

It might sound like I'm bashing Haye but I don't mean to. I think he is a very, very good boxer and, along with Adamek, the most exciting fighter in the heavyweight division but I think they'd both get jabbed to death by the Klitschkos. Lewis was getting beaten to the punch handily until the doctor stoppage and he is a better boxer on his worst day than Haye has ever shown himself to be.

Don't think there is much more that can be said about Pacquaio. The guy is just phenomenal. I remember reading that he was planning on retiring in the not too distant future (might have been next year) so think he'll only be fighting 2 more fights maximum. Doubt the Mayweather bout will ever happen due to Money's court case and just the ridiculous amount of politics it would take to get the 2 guys in the ring. Such a shame as it is the fight EVERYONE wants to see and they'd both make an absolute fortune out of it. ($40-50 million each maybe?)

I'd love to see Pacman-Marquez 3 but fear Manny is just too big for that fight now.

  7. I'd pick Mayweather to win a lopsided decision but not necessarily to win by knock out. He doesn't seem to have been able to bring his punching power with him up the weight classes the way Pacquaio has.

  8. It's phenomenal. We've watched it several times already, but I'm still absolutely hyped that we're going to see a proper screening on the 25th. Spoons, American footballs, we're doing the whole damn thing.

Where is the screening? Always wanted to go to one myself and missed the one on the 3rd September. Spoons, American footballs, a dozen red roses etc. Plus one of the guys I'm planning on going with is called Mark so he can expect a lot of "Oh hi Mark"

  9. Has there been any word on Filho yet? I mean is he in the country? Is he healthy? Does Bellator have a back up plan in case he no shows?

I hope he is in top form as he is another one of my favourites and it's just such a waste of potential the way he's going.

  10. Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere but remember a few months ago Alexander linked to a 9 part review of the Phantom Menace? Well the guy has released his review of Attack of the Clones and it is just as immense.

    Enjoy:

  11. If the BNP could somehow lose the skin-head, chav image it has and actually be able to back up a lot of their pledges with well thought out policies then I'd gladly vote for them.

So for you, it's just a matter of image, is it? The thinly-veiled racist policies and drive to send Britain back to a totally agrarian economy are things you'd consider worth voting for? Despite your claim you've never voted before and that voting for anyone outside Labour or the Tories is a wasted vote?

    Wow.

    Yep, got it in one!

  12. Fedor vs Crocop at Final Conflict 05 is an absolute epic. The only time where the two top heavyweights in MMA faced off and you can sense it, the whole fight has a special feel about it.

Great fight too, Fedor is a fucking machine.

Just reminded me, I watched Shockwave 2004 on thursday night. That had the 2 top HWs in the world and Fedor just absolutely dominated Nog standing up. Hands by his side it was just a spectcular performance.

Also had the last great performance by Wanderlei where he fought at an 80lb disadvantage against Mark Hunt. I thought he won the fight but they gave it to Hunt. A fun little fight which saw the Atomic Butt Drop!! huntsatomicbuttdropud4.gif

Gomi and Pulver put on a great stand up battle which shows how good Gomi can be. Cro Cop beats Randleman and Anderson Silva gets flying heel hooked!

The first few fights are boring as hell but the top half of the card is highly reccomended.

  13. I was slightly let down by the 2006 open weight GP. Granted, the Big Nog/Barnett match was an all-time classic but apart from that the matches were quite poor. It doesn't help that the winner was given the easiest path imaginable to the final which left a slightly sour taste in my mouth.

  14. I think Pride 2005 grandprix is widely considered the best, ive just rewatched it all and despite a slow first round, the rest is epic. Great stuff and a great cast of fighters.

What i will say is, people always seem to think that this was the tounrnament where Shogun dominated. It's not true, he killed Rampage and Arona in the first rounds and finals, but he was getting handled by Overeem until Alistair ran out of gas, and its debatable whether he beat Lil Nog, many say he didn't. Having said that, it was unbelievable showing by Shogun, he showed if anything that he has huge heart and cemented that deadly killer instict he has. But it wasn't the dominating performance many would have you believe.

As for Final Conflict 2005, i will say that the Arona/Silva fight was a lot better than i remember. I always remember Arona lying on Wanderlei for a boring decision, but Arona stood with Wanderlei for much of the fight, and only took Wandy down once, the other's were from a kick and slip. Arona was busy on the ground and beat Wanderlei up. Wanderlei was as much to blame for not pulliing the trigger standing, because Arona gave him plenty of oppurtunity.

I remember Shogun had problems with Overeem both times they fought.

The Shogun-Nogueira fight was really fucking close and if they gave it to Nog I wouldn't have had a problem with it to be fair.Could have been a draw but they needed a winner with the tournament format.Just a really close, awesome fight.

You're right though,it wasn't the blowout it's remembered as but it was a great run of performances over some very tough opponents.

The Arona vs Wanderlei fights I recall being pretty boring but I haven't seen them for a long time.Hate to admit it but I remember thinking Arona won both fights and that Wand got real lucky with the judges in the second fight.

Yeah, I think Shogun/Nogueira was super close. The stand up was even and on the ground was even. I think Shogun probably deserved the win due to the takedowns in which he dominated. Still my favourite match of all time and I'm so excited at the possibility of a rematch.

The Arona.Wandy matches were very boring. In my opinion Arona won both matches. He was able to put and keep Wandy down for the entire match and showed why he's never even dropped a point at ADCC. Can't wait to see him in the UFC with elbows! :)

  15. I always enjoyed the 2005 Pride Welterweight and lightweght torunament which was held through one Bushido event (9 I think) with the finals at that years Shockwave. In fact, I'd rate that Bushido show as probably the 3rd best event ever put on by Pride. Pride 25 and Final Conflict 2003 being the only shows I'd rate above it.
