I think the ‘idiotic son in law’ has turned out to be the best thing to happen to the WWE ever

Not having Vince involved in creative has been a massive boon for sure. How much is down to Trips I suppose time will tell but it's as if he's "listened" over the years and what we're getting now is (almost) everything we've ever asked for.

    Bells. Whistles. And some tinsel!

    Very well done all round.

So this was truly disappointing. We were all wondering whether or not we saw a genuine upset Seth Rollins at Wargames and to be honest, it looked fantastic. I saw several clips where he is already flipping off as soon as the music hits all the way up to the famous footage where he is held back by Michael Cole of all people. He is cursing and cursing ... I loved it. IMO if you want to keep this momentum the thing you should NOT do is openly talk about CM Punk at some live event. He is not worth his breath, yet he talks about him. I wish he counted more on his veteran status instead of giving the next big Phil match away.

What do you all think. Was it a good idea to immediately follow up the next day or... just ignore CM for a few weeks.

Yeah he could've just let it be. No matter what he says he's going to get booed when it comes to the match so a bit pointless. Lots of chat about him genuinely being pissed but recognising there's money in it so we'll see what happens tonight.

Be good all round if there was no interaction between the two.

Man I have rewatched the end of this show a lot of times. A looot of times. Flawlessly executed and what a spine tingling pop. Been perusing the fan cam in-arena videos of it too, I can’t get enough of stuff like that when something monumental happens in wrestling.  Can’t beat it.

I still don’t think I can sit through a full three hour Raw but I am certainly intrigued to hear what he has to say. They’ve got me for that at the very least. I hope he does feud with Rollins as it would be highly therapeutic for me to hear Punk skewer him on the mic.

This. Seth was mouthing off after the live event last night about how irrelevant Punk is. Would love to see Seth put in his place.

It's 100% better than the version they used after that until he put the mask back on, which sounded like the not-quite-right melody WCW would have given to Kane if he'd jumped ship. That was utterly shit.

Beat me to it. Acoustic version posted I think is pretty good. *

Is the general consensus that Brand was the comedian that Katherine Ryan was referring to? Even if he wasn't, she was given lots of legal ramifications for saying anything as I understand. I think speaking out without any kind of actual proof is tricky.

Apparently that's who she was referring to. I read something at the weekend about her and Brand but can't find it now so may have been removed.

  6. Simon Evans with the comment regarding Brand and his rise to fame:

As said above, it's a fair point. Russel Brand was a creation not a comedian. How those in power and in the know remain in their jobs beggars belief but there's still evidently something very wrong with mainstream television that this happens so often and so little ever changes.

    Does anyone actually believe this?

Well I believe it for one and it has been the running theme of our group chat over the last few months. I haven't come across anyone yet that wasn't relieved when Punk got canned. His arrival and debut, as anticipated and as good as it was, led to AEW diverging from their storylines and doing a TNA by accomodating big names and assuming they would carry the company.  Unfortunately, Punk isn't a draw and didn't have any impact on the shows other than making them slightly worse. Big names can work, but they only work if the storylines and people around them are on board and that's never been the case with Punk in my opinion.

The fact we don't have actual superstars in life these days was made clear the moment he walked out.

I understand riding for Punk but this statement simply isn't true.

Three things were made clear the moment be walked out:

    1. He is even more of a selfish, arrogant and childish prick than we ever thought

    2. His on screen/in-ring contributions were not missed one bit. The show on didn't suffer and the actual real life superstars such as Sting, Moxley, Danielson, Cassidy, Allin, MJF carried the roster without any bother at all.

    3. Punk isn't even a superstar when you see the reactions that Sting, Page, Omega et al get.

I don’t really understand why some people have turned on FTR as of late

A large part of it is down to their podcast I think. They've gone from internet darlings to people actively talking about how much they dislike them. Unfortunately with so many platforms through which you can communicate with fans very few wrestlers stop to think about whether or not they should communicate with fans. There's no gimmick to protect so their real personalities shine very brightly. They appear to be entitled, whiny marks (similar to their pal CM Punk) and that perception is hard to shake. The other part of it is once your personality comes out, your political preferences and opinions can easily be deduced and in that respect they are Jericho levels of plonker.

In terms of their in-ring ability I'd say there right up there with most entertaining tag teams of recent years.
