Tough situation. Unless you've been there a long time or the ordinary redundancy pay is being enhanced, redundancy pay really isn't that much, £544 per year served until you get over a certain age.

It's easier to find a job when you're in one, than when you're not, so perhaps think of this as an opportunity to find a new job before you are made redundant

I should have added my redundancy is being enhanced and with me being there 8 years (actually I have been there 10 years next April but the first 18 months I was on agency, which is a whole other story)  it is quite a substantial figure.

Thank you for the response and the suggestion, which I think I will do. Another plus point is, that as I have technically been served notice there is nothing stopping me getting a new job in say, February and as long as I serve my notice I will still get my redundancy pay. I am quite surprised given that, that they haven't offered some sort of financial incentive to ensure that who ever they have asked to stay on (believe they have asked 10 people) actually stays on till the end.

For me, it is a psychological thing now with me knowing that I am going to be made redundant and I have had that particular cloud hanging over me for 2 and a half years, which is what it will be by the time I actually get my redundancy money, unless time schedules change again. It has affected me and stopped me planning and doing certain things, trying to be careful with money that sort of thing.

  2. In November 2019 I was told that the company I work for has been brought out by another company and effectively we would all be losing our jobs and the time frame given was by the end of December 2020.

COVID happened and we were all working from home and the migration from the company I work for to the new company was delayed and I was informed in October 2020 that my role would be extended until April 2021.

In late January 2021, I was offered the chance to work for the new company until 31 December 2021 and was offered a pretty substantial monetary bonus as well as an additional year on my redundancy pay to stay on, I agreed to do so as it was pretty much a no brainer.

Today, I was informed that they would like to extend my role again till end of March 2022 this time with no additional bonuses being offered and my redundancy will be paid in April 2022.

I should be grateful, I know I should but, I have mentally be preparing myself to leave in December and now this. It really is not a straightforward decision. I have till Thursday to make a decision, time to do some thinking.

What's the Psycho film where he calls into a radio station? I quite enjoyed that when I saw it in my youth. I fear its dreadful if I rewatch it though.

Psycho IV, it was ok for TV movie.

First film recorded at Universal Studios Florida as well.

  4. Loved Muppets Haunted Mansion, being a big fan of the attraction I liked how they got so many phrases in from it as well as part of the back story of the attraction. Hoping to see more crossovers in the not too distant future.

  5. Grim viewing, for most of them I bet that sort of behaviour happened on a frequent basis in previous years, it just seems that people and thankfully society started to change.

Although,  not related to the Plane Ride From Hell, on a side note, why the hell would Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty need to date rape people?  Both good looking guys (in the time period in question) and would not be short of attention.

Guess it boils down to getting a kick out of the power and the "because they can attitude" either way, it is a Psychologists dream.

    Help

Jack Thorne really knows how to write grim, depressing yet utterly captivating TV. After writing a bunch of This Is England 88/90 and The Virtues episodes, it definitely seems like him and Stephen Graham are made for each other.

Jodie Comer is so good in this and deserves a BAFTA purely for that absolutely mega 20-minute long, one shot sequence of her doing the night shift.

Totally agree, Jodie Comer was absolutely brilliant in this and deserves every accolade and award going.

I don't think so. It got ported to C64, Master System, Megadrive, SNES, CD32, PlayStation, GameBoy Advance and it's turned up on Switch.

    Was on the 3DS too.

I remember buying it, but being disappointed with it compared to the Mega Drive version I played previously.

  8. Willard Scott, has died aged 87.

Perhaps not known as much in the UK, Willard was recognisable face on US TV, especially the NBC Show in which he presented the weather as well as other segments. He was also the original Ronald McDonald.

  9. Think the N64 was my favourite ever console, it didn't have many games but on the plus side, no shovelware like the PlayStation.

Think I would choose Mario World as the game I wished I played when it was released. I had only just got a NES at the time of its release and probably didn't play it, with the exception of those SNES disguised as arcade machines you saw occasionally in Amusements until about 1995 When I got a SNES second hand as everyone was trading them in for the PlayStation.

  10. DJ Kat - I was even a member of the Fan Club, would love to know where the Fan Club pack went.

Games World, although I preferred Bad Influence

Wasn't Superstars of Wrestling on SKY One in 1992? I know it was shown on a Friday Night at 10pm but I cannot remember if it was shown on SKY One or Sports.
